Alex Ferguson has handed fantasy managers some handy reassurance on the apparent injuries to both Evra and Vidic. Both players were withdrawn from yesterday’s 5-1 trouncing of Newcastle – Evra at half-time and Vidic with fifteen minutes remaining. However, both look to be minor concerns according to the United boss.
“Patrice wasn’t feeling very well. He was sick at half-time so we took him off,” he explained to MUTV.
“Then Vida came off. I think he’s okay – hopefully it’s just a calf strain.â€
Vidic could be a doubt for the for trip to Fulham but it would seem unlikley that the problems would see them miss that game. Of cousre, Ferguson could look to rest the pair as a precaution for the Champions Leagu the home leg with Lyon. That’s certainly a possibility with Evra although if Vidic is fit, he’s likely to play. Ferguson had previously stated in this article that he felt little need to rest and rotate his centre-backs.
“Centre backs don’t have the running to do like midfield players and forward players,” remarked Ferguson. “They have a partnership, which helps with the understanding and communication. There is no reason to rest them.”
