United have withdrawn both Ronaldo and Nani from Portugal’s squad for the international friendly with Italy on Wednesday.

Both players picked up knocks in the 3-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday. Ronaldo is complaining of pains in his left leg, while Nani has reportedly suffered a pulled muscle in his right leg.

The pair have to be considered doubts for United’s clash with Villa on Saturday. On the face of it, it seems unlikely that Ronaldo will be rested for that game, however it’s worth considering that United face Roma in the first leg of the Champions League Quarter-Final in Italy on Tuesday and Ferguson will look to rest and rotate with this in mind.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
