The keen eyed amongst you may have spotted that the monthly picks in the right menu have now been updated. Not only does this update remove some embarrassing placeholder values like the claim that David James will be playing out of position, it also gives you all an idea of how I’m currently ranking players for each position at this current time.

Currently we have no form to go on so the picks are based heavily on forthcoming fixtures over the next five games. Subsequently players from the likes of Arsenal, West Ham, Everton and Bolton – who all have favourable starts, all figure prominently.

There will be lots of changes to these in the coming weeks as more transfer deals are completed. Looking at the midfield situation in particular, Right now the likes of Barry, Bentley, Lampard and Ronaldo are all affected by transfer speculation and injury so Modric for one, benefits from this with a high ranking in my picks. I’d expect that to change once Barry and Bentley are finally settled at their new clubs and by the looks of things we could even see Sidwell threaten to push himself into the rankings if a move to Villa is sorted.

For now though, use the tabs in the monthly scout picks table to navigate my current rankings and let me know how they compare to your current thinking.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
