Mark Hughes is officially on the look out for a new, experienced, keeper to boost his options at Eastlands.
Despite having both Joe Hart and Kasper Schmeichel on the books, the new City boss is looking for extra cover and has emphasised the need for an experienced campaigner.
With Friedal’s move to Villa looking imminent, he is clearly out of the question but if Hughes can find the right man, it could be that Joe Hart will come under serious threat for the number one jersey.
Hart is likely to prove fairly popular with fantasy managers this season. Currently he’s been selected by just 6% of the 400,000 Fantasy Premier League managers registered thus far. With Dunne suspended for the first two games and City’s fixtures looking fairly tough, that’s perhaps not surprising.
Fortunately then, we’ll be handed some time to get a view on Hughes’ thinking with regards his number one. Even so, if a senior keeper arrives at City, we could have another situation like last season at City when Sven juggled Schmeichel, Hart and Isaksson for a good few months.
