Gary Megson will have Cahill, Elmander and Taylor available to him for the trip to Old Trafford this weekend.

Cahill returns from a three match ban following his red in the Carling Cup last month, while Elmander has recovered from a hamstring injury and is expected to join him back in the starting eleven. Matt Taylor is also likely to return but may well start on the bench having recovered from a broken toe.

All three represented decent low-to-mid price options at the start of the season but failed to capitalise on some early decent fixtures and bring in the points. Following the United game, Bolton’s fixtures look fairly kind once again and Cahill in particular, should find some suitors in the weeks ahead.

Smolarek, Gardner and Shittu are likely to be the players under threat as a result of the return of the trio.
