The dust is still settling on last night’s bruise-fest between Everton and Chelsea and following the suspension of Terry and the possible injury to Cech, there’s potentially more significant news for fantasy managers emerging from the wreckage.
Chelsea’s Alex faces a possible three-match ban for violent conduct as the FA have revealed that they are looking into an incident in which the centre-back appeared to stamp on a floored Tim Cahill…
Referee Phil Dowd missed the incident on the night but the FA will now apparently ask him to review the video evidence.
‘If a referee misses a particular incident, we can ask the him to look at video footage of it and ask what he would have done had he seen it,’ revealed an FA Spokesman.
It has to be said that the evidence is pretty damning and so it looks nailed on that a sulking Scolari will be further cheered by news that he will lose his other centre-back for a three-match spell.
This would leave the Chelsea backline in tatters for the festive fixtures. The could now go into the games against West Brom and Fulham with Mikel and Ivanovic in central defence, unless Carvalho is available following a knee injury. There is still some doubt over his fitness however.
When you consider that Cech could also be missing in those games after injuring his thumb last night, suddenly the Chelsea clean sheet machine is looking vulnerable – even against West Brom and Fulham.
