Craig Bellamy’s return to our fantasy radars looks to be brief, with news that the striker has suffered further complications with a recent knee injury in Hamburg last night.

Bellamy completed the 90 minutes of the UEFA Cup tie but suffered another flare up to his knee after the game. Fears are growing that this threatens to sideline him for the rest of the season although City are due assess the extent of the injury today on Bellamy’s arrival back in the UK.

Clearly the striker is out of the Fulham game on Sunday and the second leg with Hamburg. With Benjani also suffering a reoccurrence of his thigh strain last night, it seems likely that Sturridge will lead the line for Mark Hughes and come into the reckoning as potential budget fantasy purchase.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
