Phil Jagielka will miss the rest of the season having suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in yesterday’s home defeat to Man City.

Jagielka was carried from the field after the hour mark and scans last night confirmed the worst. He will of course miss the FA Cup Final and the early part of next season.

The Everton man has had an outstanding season and has had plenty of backing in fantasy terms. Currently owned by over 15% of Fantasy Premier League managers, he will now surely be sold on with Baines and perhaps Lescott, likely to see plenty of investment as a result.

While the injury is dreadful news for the player and Everton, us fantasy managers can at least now be assured of some stability in Moyes’ team selection in the back four. The Everton boss rotated his troops again in yesterday’s game, resting Lescott to the bench having done the same with Jagielka at Chelsea on Wednesday.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
