Evening all. Regular comment posters will have noticed that I’ve introduced some changes this afternoon to the way in which comments in posts are displayed.
Because of the volume of comments being posted and the load that this puts on my server (even my upgraded one), I’ve had to split comments into pages. On the plus side this makes post pages load a lot quicker, it should make it quicker to post comments and you no longer have to scan down the page for the latest batch of comments – you’re automatically taken to the page with the most recent. You can use the page tabs across the top of the comment panel to navigate to pages containing earlier comment posts.
The disadvantage of this change is that the comment reply function is no longer functional – instead you’ll need to use the comment post numbers to indicate a reply to a previous comment. I hope you’ll agree that the increased speed, stability and ease of reading, more than makes up for this.
As a final note, as promised users now have to be registered and logged in to post comments. So, if you haven’t already, get yourself registered by clicking here. The good news here is that this will enable me to reduce the spam filtering on comments which was, on occasion, catching some users legitimate comments. All good. As you were then.
