Well then, after a nice two week vacation, isn’t it nice to know that we can all settle back down to the regular fantasy routine here at the Scout? With a veritable goalfest of action going on this weekend, there was certainly plenty of points being shared out across the leagues – let’s find out who capitalised on that to boost their position in the all important Scout league tables…
Fantasy Football Scout League (Fantasy Premier League)
Hot on the tails of this years pacesetters, the classic Scout League this week has usurped one more of our competitors and jumped up into 3rd place and with only two more to assail in the next 8 months, I’m confident all of our diligent readership will do the business to get us that title once more. As for in the league itself, nobody can seem to get a good grip on the top spot as of yet and we welcome site poster tutankamun to the peak of our fantasy mountain. His team Jedi Knights scored a sound 61 this week despite mining only 7 points from almost half of his starting line up – the force must have been strong in this one. I’ll shut the door on my way out…
Fantasy Football Scout League (Can You Kick It)
There was minor tragedy over in CYKI this week though; our rivals on the FISO forums have knocked us off top spot and down to 3rd this week. Much like our original league, we welcome another newcomer to the dizzy heights of first place here – regular scout poster djman102 give us a wave. In a similar fashion, djman102 managed to get even less (six) points from half of his team – but once again, his big money buys proved exactly why they cost so much – because at the end of the day, they bring the goods home. Watch out though, Chikadi China The Chines Chicken (Bare Naked Ladies fan I hope) is shooting up the Scout League.
Still leading the pack in our first Head to Head league is BP FC, just who is going to knock him down a peg or two eh? In an all-american tie he managed to best jms by a mere 2 points, the somewhat surprising Anton Ferdinand assist (one big punt upfield) was enough to scrape it. Perhaps Dino can come through next gameweek. Mark and Marknlard tied, unsurprisingly, given their names are so similar (solid logic?). Comfy Coxy coasted to victory with 68 points, but the less said about him the better – I’m just a little bit bitter he beat me in the FFS cup. Now I can’t go without mentioning me once more this week I’m afraid, Foch and Andy (that’s me) managed to run out a 64 points a piece draw, now I’ll happily take that point – but we would have beaten anyone else in our league this week (bar Comfy). So, I hand the “comforting arm around the shoulder award” this week to my colleague and I, just for our poor luck.
Like most victors this week, JWF kept his unbeaten record at the top of the league in no short part thanks to his striking partnership of Defoe & Bent. RoysBrotherJohnson is around the corner for you, and he will be riding on the crest of a wave following his 1 point victory over PDM Allstars. Fran continues to stutter in the Head to Heads, this time losing out to Ibracadabra, …al gave last weeks 2nd place manager Waggy the bitter taste of defeat for the first time this season and Scout statistician Superior Being continues his ascent up the table.
With a score of only 40 points heading into Super Sunday, previously unbeaten Hammer Time looked like he was about to relinquish his grip on the top of the table, but up crops Tim Cahill with a goal (and one very important bonus point) so our resident West Ham fan managed to keep a pinky on the top spot. He pulled in an average score of 48 but that was enough to see off Dan B by a single point. Continuing in his hot pursuit at the top, Dribbler beat last weeks joint leader adz by a nice handful of points – slowly, slowly, catchy, monkey. I believe a victory against his own brother next week will continue his assault on the top spot. Elsewhere, Verbal beat Ryangal1982 this week, while TorresMagic trumped Ian and resident Wolves fan Pop Ooh Yeah coasted past Defoe Rules.
Seven teams were sharing top spot in Head to Head number four at the end of last week, only separated by their overall rank – four of those have fallen by the wayside this week – a venerable culling of of title contenders. Mike McBam, Gros, Benedict Wong & Sasquatch all had an early bath this week – can any of them dust themselves off next week and fight back for that top spot? The Rock holds on to it this week, he’s also continued to keep hmself in the top 1000 worldwide positions; a very credible start to the season. It’s also worth mentioning that with only two of his players scoring 2 points or less, Cherag hauled in 69 points this week – none too shabby.
The unabashedly brazen rez-rez has been toppled and there is a new manager sitting pretty on the top of our final select entry Head to Head league. Rez-rez lost to new league leader, and one of our resident Everton fans jils – Chris Samba getting substituted prior to Blackburn conceding sure help conspire to earn Ms. Spencer the 3 points here. A matchup against Lovely Camel next week will have close rivals Jonty & Juha Hornborg hoping for a slip up on a potential banana skin.
Last weeks 37 unbeaten managers at the top of the Reserve League has this week been whittled down to a barely visible 22 managers – will any of you folks last the whole season? Perhaps Gerrard Gosson will be the man for the job, because with a score of 65 points this week he has shot to the top of the Reserve League. He has claimed the spot thanks to being the player with the highest overall rank of those unbeaten folks – 175th in the world after 5 gameweeks. That’s the kind of start that dreams are made of. The £29m investment in your strikeforce is firing on all cylinders, long may it continue.
Thats another gameweek gone then. Watch out folks – I’m sure us managers in the bottom half are just preserving our energies, after all it is a marathon not a sprint (at least that’s what I tell myself). Who’s going to join me for a thirty-three gameweek unbeaten run?
It most likely won’t get any reports, but for those interested in some midweek european fantasy Champions League action – I’ll leave you with one last advert for the Fantasy Football Scout League which starts this evening, the code to join is: 2628-830 and the game itself can be found by clicking this here link. Oh look, the tranquility of selecting Ronaldo once more!
