The Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power, has reached the last 64. This means that for those able to navigate their team through to the next round will be involved in the draw made on the podcast. For the full list of 32 fixtures, click here. For a summary of the draw, read on…
Last weeks top scorer Xtentz faces George, whose team is on the up after catapulting his team from 280,000 in week 3, to a top 30,000 team last week. George has had four weeks of improvement and will fancy an upset this gameweek, with Xtentz currently relying on 3 Liverpool players at Stamford Bridge, whereas George has Rooney and Fabregas with very strong fixtures aswell as Torres.
You wouldn’t expect many managers to be still in the cup after 3 successive weeks of drop in overall rank, but that is exactly what Unusually Rubbish has done. A decent start in the top 70,000 after GW1 was improved upon every week up until the FFS Cup started, reaching a high of 4,895 after GW4. Since then he has managed to progress in the cup despite dropping each week to a (still very good) rank of 9,983. Surely another week of falling rank will not get him past Burton, who is one of the highest ranked remaining players, who sits 206th in the world.
Higher still is anfield_1989 who is is currently 157th in the world, but up against tough opposition in Little Lukin. Not all is lost for Little Lukin however, as anfield_1989 has already made a transfer to remove one of his big guns and leave him with 8.8 million doing nothing in the bank. Little Lukin may also not be too displeased to see 3 Hull players in anfield_1989’s squad.
One manager who’ll be looking for a major upset this week is flookbird, who has been drawn against current leader of the FFS H2H Reserve league and who is 4th in the FantasyFootballScout league. Amazingly though, flookbird has a squad value 1.7 million greater than oi keano, who’s overall position of 126th in the world is just the 96-odd thousand places higher than flookbird. So maybe the upset is on?
Sound11 may have held the advantage over Brick in their tie, having a superior overall rank of 10,515 against 25,669, but what he might not have reckoned on was Brick choosing this week to activate his wildcard.
Two managers just breaking the 400 point mark last week were Barkerov and The Saint, who face each other in a very tight tie, as just a single point splits their overall tallies. Barkerov will be hoping to continue his run of never seeing a red arrow on his history, and carry on walking the mile, walking the green mile (is that phrase a goer?), whereas The Saint on the other hand will be desperate push on as he’s not been able to improve his overall rank significantly since GW2.
Elsewhere we have Bedknobs and Boomsticks Vs. da Beeeez (I’ll let da Beeeez do the full match preview for that one), John Vs. Sir Steve Kirk, Lovely Camel Vs. Sparky and swindonabroad Vs. denial, to name a few.
Good luck to everyone, and remember that the free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power is up for grabs once again this week for the highest score. The full results will be published a day or two after the gameweek ends.
