Fernando Torres suffered a groin injury whilst in training with Spain on Wednesday evening, although all the reports so far suggest that the knock is a minor injury which shouldn’t keep the striker out of action.
Spain face Armenia on Saturday before visiting Bosnia-Herzegovina next Wednesday and, although Torres seems set to be in contention, Rafa and thousands of Torres fantasy owners will be hoping he isn’t risked. That doesn’t likely given that David Villa is already missing from the Spanish squad with a hamstring problem.
Torres has previously broken down when thrown back into the fray too soon after an injury. So, although we shouldn’t be forming a queue for the panic room just yet, we’ll need to monitor his minutes on the pitch for Spain over the two qualifiers with Liverpool’s trip to Sunderland next weekend in mind.
