Fernando Torres looks set to be rested for Spain’s World Cup qualifier with Bosnia on Wednesday. Spain’s national coach Vicente del Bosque has stated that the Liverpool striker will not take part if the player reports any discomfort with the abductor muscle injury sustained in the weekend qualifier with Armenia…

“If the boy is well and wants to play, he will play against Bosnia. And if he has any problem, he will not play. It’s that simple.”

The news will come as a welcome reassurance for Rafa, plus the thousands of fantasy managers who have recently invested in Torres off the back of his recent goal glut.

Meanwhile, Benitez has also been boosted by scans that have allayed fears surrounding the groin injury sustained by Steven Gerrard in Saturday’s defeat against Ukraine. Initial reports suggested that Gerrard could be sidelined, but he is fit to remain with the England squad for tomorrow night’s qualifier with Belarus and will likely take the field when Liverpool meet Sunderland this weekend. Dirk Kuyt remains a doubt with the ankle problem he picked up whilst on international duty with Holland in Australia, although Liverpool will have time to treat the Dutchman back at the club, prior to the weekend.

*Edit* Gerrard limped out of training with England this morning with further groin problems. He has now returned to Liverpool and will now go into the weekend as a major doubt until we hear otherwise.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
