The news will come as a welcome reassurance for Rafa, plus the thousands of fantasy managers who have recently invested in Torres off the back of his recent goal glut.

Meanwhile, Benitez has also been boosted by scans that have allayed fears surrounding the groin injury sustained by Steven Gerrard in Saturday’s defeat against Ukraine.
