Louis Saha’s departure in Tuesday’s Carling Cup tie appears to have been more than a precautionary measure prior to the weekend meet with Villa. The striker reportedly suffered a calf injury in the 2-0 defeat at Spurs and is now a doubt going into the weekend. Everton are yet to comment on the extent of the injury or a possible time on the sidelines…
This is more awful news for Moyes and his Everton squad that has suffered from a whole array of injuries of late. According to this report, Everton still have ten players out of action going into the Villa game although the likes of Yobo (head), Pienaar (knee), Baines (calf) and Bilyaletdinov (thigh) do have a chance to figure.
The absence of Saha will be a major blow however. In fantasy terms, he remained the one real asset and has attracted plenty of interest of late, off the back of a run of form that have seen him move on to six goals for the season.
