Arsenal’s casualty list has lengthened following today’s 2-0 win over Stoke after Eboue, Traore, Rosicky and Gallas all suffered injuries in the game. Eduardo meanwhile, missed the game with a muscle injury sustained in training, prompting Wenger to start with Arshavin in a central attacking role.
It’s been confirmed by Arsene Wenger that Traore and Gallas have both suffered hamstring injuries. Rosicky meanwhile has sustained a groin injury, while Eboue’s problem is described as muscular. Wenger sounded optimistic as always on three of the injuries but did confirm that Rosicky will face yet another spell out…
“We are hopeful that Eboue, Traore and Gallas are not too serious but Tomas Rosicky is out for a while. Eduardo has a thigh problem, he had to stop training yesterday. It is a little recurrence, the medical staff tell me he could be available next week.”
Injuries to Gallas and Traore could now see starts for Silvestre, and even Senderos, in Arsenal’s forthcoming fixtures, starting with the trip to Liverpool next weekend. The absence of Rosicky and Eboue will also be felt, although Wenger did confirm that Diaby could be in the frame to return next weekend, while Song will be back after suspension.
As for Eduardo, he wasn’t missed today with Arshavin employed down the middle. He duly notched the first goal and the Gunners boss has suggested that the Russian will get another opportunity to play in that role. That could come at Anfield, a ground on which Arshavin scored four goals last season. Classed as a midfielder across the fantasy games, Arshavin suffered a price drop in the Fantasy Premier League game this gameweek. It will be interesting to see if his fortunes change after today’s goal and maximum bonus return.
