Arsenal have just this minute kicked off their Premier League encounter with Portsmouth at Fratton Park, before they did though, Arsene Wenger brought us this little nugget on Cesc Fabregas’ hamstring injury…

“Cesc Fabregas looks like he’ll be out for about 10 days, there was no chance he could play tonight.”

It’s not much to go on and, given that Wenger has underestimated absence to injury before now, not totally reassuring. However, it’s the first indication we’ve had of a possible prognosis. If this proves to be the case then the good news is that Fabregas could be in line to return for the league game with Everton on January 9th. The bad news is that he will miss the second fixture of gameweek 20, the home game with Bolton three days earlier.

No doubt we will hear a lot more on this post-match, as the full verdict on the Fabregas injury is revealed.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
