Chelsea face an anxious wait over the fitness of Petr Cech after the stopper collapsed with a calf injury on the hour-mark in last night’s 2-1 Champions league defeat in Milan.

It could have been worse for Chelsea number one. There were fears that he had suffered a potentially serious knee injury after being stretched from the field. Cech left the stadium sporting strapping on his leg and his boss Carlo Ancelotti, put minds at rest on the injury sustained..

“It is not his knee, it is his calf. Cech had an injury on his calf and we have to wait, we have to control the next days…”

Cech will clearly be a major doubt for the weekend home clash with Man City, although when questioned on his availability, Ancelotti was non-committal

“I don’t know, we don’t know, we have to wait. We have to do a check on his calf. We will take a decision and we will know how long he has to stay out.”

The likelihood however is that Cech will be sidelined for a number of weeks which will hand another opportunity to Henrique Hilario. The Portuguese keeper replaced Cech last night and will surely be set to mind the sticks against City and during Cech’s absence. Fantasy Managers will immediately be on the alert to the opportunity this presents. Hilario is a budget keeper across the various fantasy games and is valued at just 4.9 in the Fantasy Premier League game.

We will bring you more on Hilario’s prospects, with further analysis, in a future article once more on Cech’s prognosis is at hand.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
