The fixtures could have fallen a little better; this is not exactly a standard gameweek to ease us into normality after the frenzy of last week’s doubles.

Manchester United will hope their second away day meet with Owen Coyle this season will end better than their last; the Rooney doubts are still lingering and won’t help matters. Arsenal travel to face Birmingham with McLeish eager to inject some solidity back to his defence. Will Cesc get the freedom to rake in the points? Meanwhile other recent favourites Chelsea and Aston Villa do us no favours by facing off at Stamford Bridge in a fixture that looks mightily tough to call and back in fantasy terms.

Perhaps Harry Redknapp hosting his old club Portsmouth, will draw some captaincy allure. With Defoe out and Pavlyuchenko an injury doubt, Gareth Bale perhaps has the greatest potential as an out of positon defender. City’s Carlos Tevez up against the obliging Wigan defence could be another bankable option. And what about the drums of Fernando, can you hear them? With five goals in his last three outings, Senor Torres is in some mighty fine form of late…

And that form has made him choice number one in our poll to date, with all of the aforementioned Rooney, Fabregas and Tevez jostling fairly evenly as second best candidate.

Have we missed anyone out? If you think Niko Kalinic will shine in the Lancashire derby at Burnley this post and poll is just for you. Place your vote, speak your corner and discuss with your fellow community on who will be wearing your Fantasy Premier League armband this week.
