We’re suffering an oh-so-quiet news day. The calm before the storm perhaps, or just the fallout from unceremoniously losing all our Champions League contenders. Regardless, it’s time to freshen things up by offering you a reminder that the Fantasy Premier League Captain poll is currently fully operational in your middle column.

Despite Fulham and Stoke postponing their midweek date, the voting remains more than a little squeeky. Chelsea dominate with Bolton moving hesitantly into their Stamford Bridge sights – Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and the new, radically improved, version 2.0 model of Florent Malouda are hoovering up the votes right now. Fernando Torres is the meat in the Chelsea sandwich – he’ll need to come through tonight’s Europa tie but should bring in more votes in preparation for his Anfield encounter with the Fulham defence. Beyond these four, there appears to be slim pickings, although Jimmy Bullard looks to be the dark horse – albeit a slightly knackered one with a particularly flouncy mane.

Register your vote and for the sake of keeping things tidy around here, use this article to post your views on the current crop of captain candidates.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
