There’s some significant early team news from Eastlands ahead of Man City’s double fixture gameweek, with reports suggesting that both Emmanuel Adebayor and Gareth Barry are doubts going into the weekend clash with Villa.

Adebayor is apparently struggling with a thigh injury, whilst Barry sounds even less likely to make the reunion with his former club – he’s doubtful with a hamstring problem.

City face Spurs in midweek following the clash with Villa as they look to cement fourth place and claim a Champions League place. Fantasy investment in their players has picked up as a result of their double fixture and both Barry and Adebayor have attracted interest…

At the time of writing Barry is ranked second in the “Transfers In” table in the Fantasy Premier League game with over 12,000 buyers. Adebayor meanwhile is trailing teammate Carlos Tevez, but has still had almost 14,000 investors. This latest injury news will come as a major concern to them.

The absence of Barry would likely see Roberto Mancini look to keep a Vieira and De Jong partnership in central midfield. Adebayor was not included in the eleven that took the field at the Emirates last time out. Should he fail to make it then it would seem likely that either Stephen Ireland or Shaun Wright-Phillips will be given the opportunity to come into midfield, or Roque Santa Cruz could earn a start if Mancini looks to change formation from the 0-0 draw at the Emirates.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
