The time has come to dust off my reporter’s hat and bring you the first summary of our 2010/11 season from around the Fantasy Football Scout leagues.
As you may well know, we’ve got a whole gamut of leagues across various games now, with ten in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) alone. We need to truncate this beast then and present a snappy appraisal month by month.
Let’s begin with our main interest, the FPL endeavours…
Fantasy Premier League
The Good…
The Fantasy Football Scout league is currently in second place after just three weeks and topping that very league, fresh from losing his battle with this fantastic four, is Felix von Stumm on 257 points and in 24th place in the world. Frequent Scout posters Nikola and the boodster are closely chasing in 2nd and 6th place respectively.
The first winner of our Members league, and walking away with his Paddy Power bonus for it, is Utkarsh Dalmia who is known to those of you on the Fantasy Football Scout commenting republic as zophar. Thanks to his 1 point lead in the Members League over oi keano he is also the ever so slender leader in our Reserve League too. Not a bad August for Team Zophar.
The seven saviours at the top of the Head to Head leagues at this stage are Roger C, dadoune, TorresMagic, denial, Dan B, Cake or Death and Sepp Graham. You’ll need to keep it up chaps, there’s plenty – 133 to be precise – people looking to knock you down a peg or two.
The Bad…
Some of the sinners at the bottom of our seven Head to Head leagues include Verbal, Myself (sigh), Captainmarvel, PDM Allstars, Hugh Jarse and pewty who all have the unfortunate grace of zero points from three attempts so far. Must try harder. As should Simon Tabata who claims bottom spot in the Fantasy Football Scout league. But then again, when you select James McArthur, what can you expect?
The Ugly… (otherwise known as the Scout team)
The longstanding Mark and Granville rivalry is live and kicking once more and only five points separate these Scouts, colleagues and podcast jockeys in the Contributors League. However, young buck Akers has started off the strongest of us all – despite being out of the country for the best part of a month, the swine – with a slender one point lead over Granville as just 8 points separate the top 5 Scouts so far. The luck isn’t spreading across the Atlantic though, as a 17 point haul did not favour Da Beeeez too brightly in gameweek 3. Ack.
Metro Fantasy Football
Our first month dabbling in the wares of the Metro game has been an interesting one to take in, the scoring matrix definitely seems to continue the good work seen in the World Cup as a reward for good effort on the day. Even if a player might not score or assist, if they’re active – the bonus points seem to follow.
The managers currently at the peak of the Fantasy Football Scout league include 16th overall Gary Davidson and his team Lucas is my captain. Lucas is not his captain – seeing as he is top of the Scout league, I guess that is easily figured. Hopefully my 90th in the Scout league will be boosted by the time the end of September rolls around.
Other Leagues
- Our Ubecha experiment saw botchjob come first and walk away with £52.07 for his efforts. Frustratingly, and unsurprisingly, I came in fourth and just missed out on a return. Please spend my money wisely.
- The Champions League kicks off on September 14th and we’ll be running our usual Scout leagues for some midweek European flavour, look out for a post once the game goes live, which has to be soon – I’ll be looking to defend my crown with honour.
