The gurus behind the Metro Game have recently sent us word that they ventured into the realm of Ipod apps, handing those multi-tasking Fantasy Managers the opportunity to play tinkerman on the move.

Over pre-season we had a look at the game in great depth and when it comes to gameplay this is just more of the same, unsurprisingly given that it’s the same game built directly for the on-the-go iPhone user.

The interface is incredibly smooth and allows you to do everything you can do on your laptop or desktop PC with just as much, if not more, ease; whether it be making that urgent transfer while you’re being dragged around H&M by the other half, or following the action via the live scoring as the points roll in.

If you’re serious about the challenge for that £15,000 first prize (I’ve already had the survey done on a new extension) – or maybe “just” even the iPad on offer for topping the Fantasy Football Scout league, then the 59p outlay of this app looks worth a punt.

I know the bandwagon opinion is to dump Bale but is it possibly too soon? Still early days playing with VDV and they did pretty well together in the CL fixture...

The true feeling of disappointment, just got home from my local teams FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round Replay, Away at Dartford (Canvey island my team), they're the league above us and twice in the last three seasons have one the league that we are in. They have always beaten us and beaten us well. Saturday, we went 1-0 up after 7 mins, they scored on 70 and 76 to take the lead, 93rd minute penalty to us, we scored. Replay. We went 1-0 up early again, about 5 minutes later they equalised, then got another before Half time. Second half, were all over them, get us on the break 3-1 Game over?? No, 30 yard screamer from one of our players (Alex Rhodes) then with about 10 minutes to go he scored again 3-3, Free kick in stoppage time for us, Hit the post!. Extra Time, Two chances for us, one hit the bar, one just, just wide. Penalties. They took first. Got up to 5-5 they missed, just this penalty to win it, HITS BOTH POSTS! Then went up to the tenth penalty in the end, we needed this to stay in it, MISSED!! So so sad, Lost 9-8 on penalties. The (Not so) beauty of Non-League football and the FA Cup ay?

    Thanks, It was pretty Epic, Still sad though. I have now got about 3 hours of video from the game to edit. I just ... No words for it really, probably the most disappointing match I have BEEN TO (Liverpool Vs West Ham FA Cup Final the most (Didn't go though), Also 3-3 and lost on pens, Deja Vu?) :'(

    I know, It is so much cheaper to watch as well (I get in free anyways, but it is just excellent. We won 3-0 away to some other local rivals the other week to, A Hat-Trick of penalties for the same player, and he had to re-take one (4 in the same game). Those are the sort of games that standing in the freezing cold and poring rain in the middle of winter seem so worthwile.

King Eric & Cuffs. As you are still awake ; I see both your teams have the "2 cheap forwards strategy". There's not a lot of love on this site for that particular option but I am going that way this week with my 2 free transfers. Torres OUT maybe Odemweg/Varney/Elmander etc IN. Bale OUT Fabs IN. It gives me a powerful Midfield and Defence, and also next week I'm bringing in Kolarov to join Cole at the back. What you think?

    Thanks for the reply. I'm going to stick with the 2 cheapies up front for a while coz I see it as a differential to the Drogba/Tevez or Berb/Carroll front three that everyone seems to have. If one or two of those don't score on a given week we could reap the benefits in Midfield or Defence....here's hoping anyway.

      also, i'd keep an eye on jones from stoke- if he stays fit i think he's going to have a break out year since he fits perfectly w/their style of play given his strength in the air, similar to carroll in that regard.

    ha, ya it's only 5:30pm my time so i'll be up for awhile. i like to have an overall balanced team, bench included, but i think that the top teams this season will find that most of their points will come from midfield, not emphasizing too much in the back as many team aren't getting clean sheets week in/out.
    
    the two "cheaper" forwards i have are just good value for pts. right now and have been producing just as much, if not more than the big name price tags, so i figured why not and use the funds for my midfield. i've been playing with either a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 and see myself sticking to that for most of the season. hope this helps.

        yes indeed! just breaks my heart and makes me mad watching them play after the world cup, such bollocks- such a class team that finally deserved to be on the trophy. now i'll have to wait until i'm an old man before they're in the final again. timing was perfect, players in their prime, next world cup they'll all be old and we won't have any experience in the back.

        first off, don't count league cups. if cups define a player then where would the likes of top players be who have never been so lucky to be on a dominant side? plus, would have been 6 english titles and 3 fa cups if he wasn't banned. also, he retired early or would have captained, let alone been part of the treble winning squad no doubt.

        de jong was unlucky and i think will be back after simply being made an example of because of press and and all that. he's a class holding mid imo and has no dirty intent- can be reckless sometimes. even in world cup he didn't deliberately go up like that, he just has to take it down a notch.

Do you guys think it's worth finding a replacement for g-bale? I've got .1 in the bank and selling him would give me 6.8 to blow. I know it's a 4 point hit but with 3 away games in four and europe coming up then I can't see him getting many points at all any time soon. What's everyone else done?

  I wouldn't take a 4 point hit to get Bale out. He's a great player, and can easily score well. He's put lots of crosses into the box, and it's only a matter of time before the strikers convert. He also scored in midweek. On the whole, taking a 4 point hit for a player who isn't injured is risky, and rarely pays off.

    Da Costa is £4.8m I believe. Elmo is £0.1m cheaper and plays for a better team with a better striker to give service to.
    
    Upson is cheaper so that makes him better value if you need to save some shekels.
    
    However, I still think that, if you can fit him in, Elmo is the best sub £5m defender to have by some distance.

  I think Upson is £4.6m at the moment. Looking at West Ham's next 6 games he could net you a decent return for that price.

G/k rotatations. Anyone wildcarding found the best pair of goalies?

I've come up with Jaaskelainen and Robinson who rotate nicely on a home and away basis. When both are away, there is favourable away fixtures to comfort thy soul.

        The 2 of you can continue your mud slinging over the next 3 days while this "rookie" will enjoy his 40th Bday tomorrow with his beautifull wife having cocktails in Campsbay, Cape Town. Google it. Most beautifull beach in the world.
        
        Friday will be a "rest day" before going off to the mountains and Houwhoek Inn on Saturday with 12 friends. Will no doubt be watching footy and enjoying my team kicking ass in the Cup/Southern cross/h2h.

        1. Where did you finish in 2009/10 fpl(you dont have any history...hhmmm)
        2. TM thought(and still thinks McFifa was a farce. He did not play)
        
        PS: I came 2nd in FFS(CL) in 2009/10 season. Andy beat me by a whisker. Also ended first in MCfifa h2h in SA.
        
        So I think my stats beats yours. By a mile.
