The results are in from the fourth round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, and can be viewed right here. For a round-up of how 64 became 32, read on…

In what was a low-scoring week all-round, Gazzamania narrowly came out on top with a handy 53 points. That earns him a free £25 bet courtesy of sponsors Paddy Power, and a spot in round five. Feeling the full force of that score was Ron Burgundy, who could only muster a lowly 21. That was the third-worst score of the round and, unsurprisingly, that tie had the widest margin of victory.

Just missing out on the week’s top-score by a single point was Manif, who killed off our former champion donnellyc 52 – 37, as I correctly predicted.

Also biting the dust this week is my fellow Scout, Granville. He lost 40 – 33 to Chris81, thanks largely to Charles N’Zogbia.

With no draws this week, all ties were all decided on points. The closest of which were single point victories for Dksbananas and Unwillingplayer, who were 37 – 36 and 41 – 40 victors over megatron x and Fiat_Chelsea respectively.

Mightily unlucky this round is Mighty and daniel.mf, as the former was involved in the highest scoring tie of the round, losing 51 – 43 to DollyDaisy, and the latter achieved the best score that failed to progress, in his 49 – 44 effort against olive.

Fortune instead favoured gooner dave, who had the lowest score good enough for a victory and his 29 – 22 game against Azfad was the lowest scoring tie of the round.

The wooden spoon for round four goes to xero131, who could only score a pitiful 15 points. Placidcasual was the benefactor there.

Congratulations to our final 32, and commiserations to those leaving us at this juncture.

With Gameweek 12 only a day away, there is no let-up in the schedule and our 32 Fantasy Managers will have only a few hours notice of their fifth round opponent; expect the draw this time tomorrow.

    Hello,

What is the deal with the mid week games from a fantasy perspective? It looks like the games Tuesday and Wed make up a week, and then the weekend games start a new week.

Other than more excitement packed in a smaller time frame, and perhaps a greater likelihood of rotation, there is not real fantasy advantage to take place, is there?

Sorry for asking a stupid question, this is my first year.

That is just an excuse for him being wank against West Ham, didn't Torres show you yesterday that good players are good players, if he does well on Wed then everyone will jump on him like they are doing with Torres now.

He has been injured, he's had two full games now, pretty soon he will click into gear, in the last two games he has still had chances so he's getting in the positions and taking the right shots.

Patience is needed if you having, a lot will wait a bit, you would be angry with yourself if you miss out.

It's not as if he's been consistently bad this season though...

He was good against Blackburn, Bolton and City, and the stats show that he was far from terrible against West Ham.

Other than the Newcastle game, he's still been turning in decent performances. Not for a second have I considered getting rid of him, although I welcome other people doing so.

Yeah, I think I will wait one more game to see what's up. I have two transfers, and COULD go:

Fabs and Varney OUT to Nolan and a high priced forward.

Problem is, I don't see the high priced forward to bring in. Don't really want Tevez or Berbatov with their up and coming fixtures. I'd have enough for Torres, who has a great set of fixtures coming, but am not convinced with Liverpool, and would feel like a bandwagon sellout!!!

Fabregas could have done no better in the match and ended up with a goal from the shot on the bar (was it a freekick?) or an assist from Nasri's shot that was stunningly saved. Big kneejerking, Fab is going nowhere from my team, and if they played Newcastle on home again on Wednesday I'd captain him again.

If you only buy/sell your players on how many points they got the weekend before then you'll be forever bandwagon chasing.

For the sake of following the example, I bet there actually weren't lots of players who hit the bar over the weekend.

People are thinking too much about what he did last season. He has lost his mojo! The games have caught up on him he said so himself! He is also not right mentally, he wants off to Barca! He plays better with a fully fit Van Persie! There are lots of reasons why he is no longer fantasy gold!

He will be good again, but not as good as last season, and won't reach his peak until about GW20 at which point I will probably get him back in.

If it's true that he plays better with RvP then getting rid of him just when RvP is coming back doesn't make sense.

Why am I trying to convince you all to keep him? Sell sell sell!

But RVP will need a few games too! I just think this season there are lots of cheaper MIDS that can score just as well as Fabs at the moment. And that means more money is available for another top striker. We will see anyway!

I'm a newcastle fan, I captained Fabs, brought in Clichy this GW, and had Enrique as my last sub. Needless to say I have egg on my face.

I did watch the game though and Fabs was far from his best, his passes were sloppy, his vision was limited, however there were moments of brilliance that will keep him in my team, as captain, for the forseeable future. With the extra pressure on Wenger from the Donetsk defeat, theres not a chance in hell he'll bench Fabregas.

I'd leave that one for now in case O'Shea starts in GW's 14-16 which are easy fixtures for Man United. Just make sure you have a decent defender on the bench. In fact you'll have Simpson who could fill that role.

yeah you'll want him for GW 14-16 when Man Utd have easy fixtures. Not sure then, maybe RVP is a good move and you'll get him before his price starts to rise.

I might have Adam in instead of Tevez, I coudl totally see AV making a mess against BP and even tho Tevez might be good for a goal, Adam has showed the same recently and they are both good for some bonus points.

I'm sort of locked into nasri because I got him at his cheapest price. Trying to get out of that "value" mentality since this isn't banking. It's tough losing him and all that money for one gameweek though.

        Walcott!

If you ever had arshavin in your team this season and watch him play, you will never consider him.

With nasri's injury, i'll go with Walcott

that fabregas tweet was interesting..I forget sometimes that he's so young..just 23 and already he's played nearly 200 prem league games, 60 internationals and 60 champs league games. That is really quite remarkable for someone his age.

true....can;t see him lasting past 30 at this rate....if he leaves next year could be another great transfer by Wenger...work him like a dog, get his best years then farm him out to another as he declines and his body slowly gives up.

ive just put in bosingwa for perch. i think bosingwa will get 120+ mins game time over next two home fixtures.
great chance for a cleany, good chance for an assist and a possible chance of goal.

im a chelsea season ticket holder. from what ive seen of bosingwa, unlike a.cole he prefers to cut in at the 16yard box and either have a pop on goal from there of a quick thru ball. a.cole prefers to go for a quick cross up to drogba, or to run down to the by line and cross from there. so in my opinion, aslong as bosingwa gets enuff game time, hes much better value than any other chelsea defender. i think ivanovic will get the nod over him more on away games.

According to Fantasy tools Tevez is going up tonight. However he is meant to be protected, anyone reckon he’ll go up?

He was yellow flagged all weekend? When did he lose his red flag?

Anyone care to shed some light on the price rising situation.

What do people think about Odemwingie's chances of starting wednesday?

    I am either going

    A) Dembele->Odemwingie

    B) Nasri out for Nolan/Brunt/Adam

    C) VDV out for Nolan/Brunt/Adam

    A) is the preferred option, but then 3 mids might be injured and not play.

Would love your 50 cent on this.

I first brought Odemwingie in against Brum (after hearing good things about him), watched the game live and he didn't disappoint. Since then I've stuck with him. I even gave him four weeks on the bench, which I've never done for another injured player. Came of the bench against mcy at the weekend after his time out and still hit the bar. I've no probs playing him in the next two away from home. He is a class act.
