West Brom have revealed that Chris Brunt is a doubt for their clash with Stoke City on Saturday after suffering a groin injury whilst playing in Northern Ireland’s 1-1 draw against Morocco at Windsor Park last night. The midfielder will be assessed later today to find out the full extent of the injury. Roberto Di Matteo has already declared his irritation at the manner in which the injury was sustained…

“We know that Chris Brunt picked up a groin injury last night and that really annoys me. The others seem to be okay. We’ve just had four games in 12 days – and one of those games was with nine men and put a lot of demands on him. The last thing we needed was for him to go to a midweek international game because the risk of injury increases. Friendlies at this stage of the season don’t make sense to me. He’s coming in today and he’s going to be assessed. At the moment he is a doubt for Saturday’s game.”

With Brunt holding the idyllic combination of both a fairly low transfer value (5.7 in the FPL) and the ability to score decent points, many Fantasy Managers have targeted the Baggies man as the perfect cut-price option to compliment some of their more pricey assets. In addition to his expert left-foot deliveries from both set-pieces and open play, Brunt has displayed the capacity to rake-in Bonus Points, grabbing an impressive 10 in total to this point.

Earlier today Di Matteo admitted that he may have to make some changes to the Baggies’ starting line-up to combat Stoke’s physical presence.

“I’ve been thinking about adapting the team. It’s a possibility getting big players in will affect my thinking.”

We can only speculate on the tweaks that the Italian has in mind, but one possibility concerns the role of Peter Odemwingie. He could well be shifted back to a position on the flank, with Marc-Antoine Fortune, who has had to be content with cameo roles in his last two outings, returning as the lone striker to add his size for the battle at set-plays. Roman Bednar is another option here, although only today there is speculation surrounding his immediate future at the Hawthorns with a possible loan move on the horizon.

Regardless, with Brunt now a possible absentee, the key message for Fantasy Managers is that there is new uncertainty surrounding the West Brom lineup for what looks to be a potentially profitable home fixture.

nobody else, that's the idea- his value will drop making him cheaper and will be a better differential. if i get rid of drogs i'll need chelsea coverage and there's no way i'll every invest in fat frank in this game.

Yeah probably. I had to sell him though to fund Fabregas.

Thing is, I had Albrighton for the first 9 weeks and I got 0 points from him.

The fifth midfielder is usually the burn slot anyways, so it isn't all that important that he plays well. A steady point gatherer like Ferguson or Emerton will do just fine in the odd occasion where one/two of your chosen front 7 pull out through injury.

With regards to Adam. It’s worth bearing in mind he has a Lancashire derby vs Bolton after Wolves. So even if he doesn’t play on Saturday I’m keeping him until then at the very least.

I guess so. Got to be NZogbia instead. I've also got reservations about Konchesky. Any suggestions?

I think I'm also dumping Foster and bringing in Gordon because a Gordon/Jussi rotation gives me 11 home matches in the next 13, primarily against weaker opposition. After that I can play the other wild card.

Even with this Gerrard injury weakening the Liverpool team? I like their fixtures though and I can't see anyone better. However I've already had Konchesky this season during his 1 point streak.

N'zogbia the best option instead of Adam despite being at Manchester United first?

I'm no fan of Malouda's but he's been pretty shit the last eight weeks. Given what he cost and considering that he isn't on penalties or free kicks, I think you can do better. Do you have two frees this week? If not, Arteta to Nani is the only crucial transfer.

Hi guys, I need help as always with this weeks transfers, take a look at my team below

    Foster | Hahmanman
    Coleman | Alcaraz | Bosingwa | Simpson | JAra

    Fab | Nani | Bale | Arteta | Malouda

    Drogba | Carrol | Varney

1.5 in the bank and 2 free transfers so was thinking either of these

A: Alcaraz, Bosingwa, Arteta for Vidic, Cahill, Jarvis (4 point)
B: Alcaraz for Cahill saving free transfer
C: Alcaraz, Bosingwa for Kolarov and Cahill
D: Arteta, varney for jarvis and tevez.
    E: something else.

What do you guys reckon? Malouda Drogba Cesc all all diferentials from my rivals

Nobody else thinking Nani may get rested this week? 90 mins at City, Villa and Spain in the last week on the back of an injury then Rangers away next Wednesday. The over-riding factor may be that united will struggle without him but I just don't trust SAF to start him.

i agree with Zod.He's Uniteds only creative player from what i've seen and playing well,he could get taken off but only if united are cruising.

any thoughts on getting rid of Cashley?

Oh and Camzy, I do currently still have Mummy (had him since day 1) but it is the right decision to ship him out while wildcarding given the uncertainty, right? Basically I'm bringing Kolarov in for him.

why so easy? i've seen a few saying it's time to get him out, but he's a good player... he can't be sat on the bench at sunderland for most of the season? Have i missed some injury/transfer news or something?

... because he hasn't started in the last two games from which they've got good results. Richardson has played really well on the right side and Elmo can consider him benchfodder for the time being..

Which one of these players would you bench from the following:

    Malouda Nani VDV N’Zogbia Jarvis
    Berbatov Drogba Carroll?

I’m thinking Malouda but am unsure. :S I have Dempsey and not Jarvis at the moment but it’ll probably be the transfer I do. Depending on what people say will help me decide what transfer to do too.

West Brom scored twice there while Bolton, Everton and Fulham have all scored well against them this year.

Their defence is not the mean one from two years ago and looks there to be got at, Rio might be injured so if Evans has to play then NZogbia would be a good shout for captain...

best replacement for elmo who isn't too pricey? i'm thinking maybe konchesky. would like kolarov, but can't justify spending 5.7 on a defender who isn't even a proven starter/producer as of yet on a very shaky rotation.

Will barry ferguson ever get more than 6 points in a single gameweek.

looking at his stats, and he played over 3000 minutes last season, without a single goal or assisst to his name.

This season he has started in the same fashion. Does he just stay in his own half for 90 minutes every match or something.
