After their thrashing in the Tyne-Wear derby at the tail end of October, Sunderland stunned Chelsea and probably themselves with a fantastic 3-0 victory at Stamford Bridge last Sunday. Perhaps this signals the start of a rejuvenated drive in the coming weeks for Steve Bruce’s men and a great time for Fantasy Football managers to draft in some of his revitalised stars? If so, who could be better to shore-up your defence than the Black Cats’ ever-dependable Mr Bramble?

The madcaps out there might be tempted to take a risk and bring in a more offensive option, but Sunderland have not been the most prolific goal-scorers so far this season, racking up just 15 all term. Having only conceded 13 goals, the fourth least in the Premier League, and staunchly keeping five clean sheets in the process, opting for a defender might be a safer bet.

The man whose captain recently backed him for an England call-up and declared him “the signing of the summer” is probably a wiser option when compared with some of his teammates. Ahmed Elmohamady, for example, has an ownership of 20.1% in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game and isn’t even a guaranteed starter, having only come on for the last few minutes against Chelsea at the weekend. In comparison, Bramble is owned by just 5.9% of FPL teams and has been ever-present apart from a one-game suspension which saw him skip the home game with Stoke City.

Once poetically labelled a “Shambles”, in recent years Titus has proved to be anything but. In the company of other bargain basement defenders, with a current FPL value of £4.7million, Bramble stands out from the crowd with an impressive 40 FPL points, claiming 6 bonus points along the way too. An increase in Sunderland’s momentum and a manageable run of fixtures (EVE, wol, WHM, ful, BOL, mun), now could prove to be the perfect time to invest in the in-form centre-back.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

I've been weighing up Onouha vs Bramble all week - Onouha seems to have more potential for attacking points, Bramble for bonuses. I went for Bramble in the end solely because of price enabling me to do next week's transfer without a points hit. Bardsley is also a good option, but not convinced that he is guaranteed starts longer-term.

Yes yes I know the captain's poll says Nani...but what are people thinking in terms of captaining him over Fabs? Tempted by the little Spaniard myself.

I was burned twice earlier though with him, so I could definitely be swayed towards the little greaseball.

Lol, it's a toughy. I'm in the same situ. I cap'd him in his first two games back and so feel resentment towards him! I think nani has been so consistent this season and is arguably against weaker opposition than Fabs, that I'm going nani. Having said that, i do think it'll be a goalfest at the Emirates

Spurs poor at the back. Fabs will be involved if Arsenal score
On pens, has had more rest and back in England longer
Its the derby and Arsenal - Spurs never have been 0-0 at the emirates
Nani only came back later, played longer during international week.
United could win 3-0 and Nani get 3points. That will never happen with Fabregas.
Nani could be taken off early due to late arrival back and the fact the game should be wrapped up .Fabregas will play 90min as its the derby.
Fabs is owned by far less players and will boost your ranking should it pay off.

If RVP starts then he wont be on penalties.... But should RVP play then Arsenal are likely to score more goals so I see that as a plus not a negative.

Plus if Arsenal win Fabregas is guaranteed 2/3 BPs, the same is true of Nani.

I was initially favouring Nani, but I think I'll go with Fabregas especially if Denilson starts and not Wilshere.

Am I missing a way to easily compare teams performances HOME/AWAY in terms of goals scored, clean sheets etc in stats section? If not, would be useful addition so you could quickly see which teams most likely to score and concede depending on whether home or away.

    Drogs, Carroll, Elmander(C)

Only question is should i play stearman over dann and in that case do i bring in kru; instead of foster as I don't want to double up? So which combo Foster/Stearman or Dann/Krul? Thanks guys.

    I have problems:

    Foster, Krul
Zhirkov (out), Elmo (doubt), Faye (doubt), Coleman, Jara
Adam (doubt), Barton (out), Malouda, Nani (poss rest), Fabs
    Drogs (malaria), Carroll, Tevez

.3m in the bank, 1 free transfer.

Was planning Mal out for Cahill (then to VDV after Spurs' tricky fixtures), and Faye out for Kolarov, but I can't really sell one of the few players I have that might actually play (Mal).

Problem is that dropping Mal was going to free up money to improve my def.

Thoughts on just doing Elmo to Konchesky, or Zhirkov to Kolarov, and praying that Adam plays and I can field 11?

I actually like the fact that Kalou, Anelka, Malouda, and Drogba will all be playing this weekend. I might just keep Malouda after all.......

(altho do you think they'll stick with 4-3-3 and play FloMo deeper or move to 442 and play Kalou & Florent on the flanks?)

Malouda in the middle and playing deeper for sure.

We have a similar teams. I am currently relying on Malouda, Jaas as my differentials. Do I ...

He was good. A well taken goal. I'd say he is going to tear Tottenham apart.

Anyone notice that one week Wenger says "you will see a different Cesc on Wednesday" and thereafter he has been hauling the points in.

I'd say Fabregas will do well against Tottenham
