Boltonโ€™s rise to the Champions League places was once again orchestrated by the performance of a strike pairing who are becoming the most feared double act in the Premier League. I can barely believe those words as they are typed.

Johan Elmander and Kevin Davies justified the oxygen weโ€™ve been feeding them on these pages but sharing four goals in the 5-1 dismantling of Newcastle at the Reebok today. Throw in one assist each for the pair and youโ€™re left with points totals that see them both take up places amongst the top four Forwards in the Fantasy Premier League game. Elmander, incredibly, is now at the top of those rankings and if Bonus Points fall kindly, he could rank as the top scoring player in the entire game. Astonishing.

Currently owned by just under 14% of FPL Managers, the Swede enjoyed a price rise this week. Get used to it โ€“ Elmanderโ€™s value will surely soar with Bolton facing the porous Blackpool defence in a weekโ€™s time. At just 6.1 in the FPL, the lure will surely prove too much and already thereโ€™s talk of the armband for Gameweek 15. Rewind 12 months and such an accolade for Elmander was simply unthinkable โ€“ he was lucky to experience the warmth of a crowded bench, let alone that of the Reebok faithful.

Poor Kevin Davies is having the season of his life but even his substantial contribution looks likely to be overshadowed; Elmanderโ€™s seemingly relentless rise to prominence is looking just too irresistible. Owen Coyleโ€™s prize asset will be a hot property in January โ€“ even hotter in the Summer. Right now itโ€™s Fantasy Managers who will be shopping at the Reebok and theyโ€™re likely to come in droves.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Who would you get rid of first - Drogba or Chamakh? Happy to keep Kevin Davies for obvious reasons but feel Torres is due a big points haul soon and fancy Gyan/Bent with Sunderland's run of fixtures. Answers on a postcard.

Funny thing is that chelsea and Drogba in particular played well.

In an alternative universe one of Drogbas early shots went in and they ran out comfortable 3 0 winners.

As it was i reminded me of a game of premier manager where the computer dosent want you to win , you have twenty shots on target and lose 1 0

With Elmander going up in price tonight, is it worth doing this transfer now?

    Am thinking Carr – Simpson
    Piquonee to Elmander.

If i leave it I will have to do Alcarez – Simpson
then Piq to Elmander due to money.

    Foster (Carson)
    Vidic, Konchesky, Coleman, Alcarez, Carr
    Malouda, Nani, VDV, Fab, Adam

    Malouda -> VdV tonight?

I was sure of that change an hour ago, but after Malouda getting BPs and playing a Newcastle team who just got thumped, i'm starting to have doubts. Then there would be the potential problem of having VdV and Bale in the same team, playing vs a Liverpool side which doesn't totally suck lately ๐Ÿ˜€

Gallas is getting too much credit for playing on with an injury. If Chamakh had a decent first touch that game could have been 4-0 at half-time. Spurs were wide open. Arsenal took their foot off the gas and paid the price for being utterly crap at the back. That and Spurs going 4-4-2 meant the centre-backs actually had to mark people and they couldn't do it

Just watched the BIR/CHE highlights... Drog would have scored 4 but for Foster. Looks like he might finally be back to form.

The more people that sell him this week the better ๐Ÿ™‚ He will be back scoring 10+ pts per game soon enough

Like Bale though, the problem is that you don't know when that is going to be.

It could be next week, it could be in a months time. Meanwhile, you keep picking up 2 points every week from him and unless the rest of your team are picking you up you'll soon find yourself slipping down the rankings.

I think the message is clear this season that the big names are not where the real value is. Look how many weeks the captain choice has sucked in the real game and look at the players that have done well week in week out who have gotten nowhere on the captain's vote page.

      Its a funny season, man.

I'd have to disagree with you there. As good as Bale is, Drogba has a hell of a lot more going for him in fantasy terms & is much less of a risk... I'm prepared to wait as long as it takes, he'll more than justify it

well i was thinking drog out for elmander and then put drog back in in Jan when the fixtures improve... I saw the game and I know he could have scored a hatrick and is due a big week. but the fixtures suck

    For GW15 - Lee + 5.3 defender(Onouha maybe) OR Nzogbia + 4.9 DEF (Bramble?)
or should I get a defender froma different team for gw15?

My front row at the moment is Carroll, Drogba, K Davies.

For next week only I want to bring in Elmander so I have both him and Davies up front. I'd take a .2 million hit to take Drogba out, but am likely to make that up over the course of this week. Kneejerk madness?

Not sure it's a good idea to have both for any week. This was the first time both have gone crazy in the same game.
