The Watchlist player rankings have been updated for the Christmas period.

The table can be found in the bottom right corner your frontpage and represent our current ranking of players based on form and their fixtures over the forthcoming Gameweeks.

The update is dominated by the return of two heavyweights, as Tottenham’s Dutch playmaker Rafael Van der Vaart and Man City’s settled skipper Carlos Tevez, blink back on the radar as major considerations for the Gameweeks to come.

Joe Hart holds the top ranking in goal, with three home fixtures in the next five Gameweeks enough to see him keep United’s Edwin Van der Sar at bay. Pepe Reina falls to third then with his Boxing Day fixture at Blackpool in doubt. Sunderland’s Craig Gordon is the high new entry – presenting strong value at just 4.5 in the Fantasy Premier League game. Expect another climb for him once this weekend’s Old Trafford trip is out of the way.

Aleksandar Kolarov climbs to the top of the Defender rankings – despite defeat against Everton on Monday night, the Serbian should enough attacking intent to warrant his ranking. Leighton Baines’ form has him remain in the top five and has him climb to second, with Liverpool’s Sotirios Kygiakos dropping to third. Again it’s Sunderland presenting the value here – with Phil Bardsley remaining in our top five.

Chelsea’s Ashley Cole is slowly climbing back up the rankings and could push the top five once the trip to the Emirates has passed. Below him, both Ryan Nelsen and Carlos Salcido are new entries to represent the Blackburn and Fulham defences – Fulham in particular, have fixtures that could see the Mexican and team-mate Brede Hangeland, pick up some profit over the next six Gameweeks.

Nani keeps the top spot amongst the Midfielders once more – his forthcoming fixtures should allow him to maintain that position for a few more weeks at least. Rafael Van der Vaart is the big threat though; the Dutchman is back in contention for Harry Redknapp’s side and has fixtures ahead of him that present the opportunity for him to maintain his impact on the Premier League.

The rest of the top five remains intact with Gareth Bale holding off the charges of Cesc Fabregas, while Frank Lampard’s return to the Chelsea midfield also promotes Florent Malouda. Chelsea’s fixtures after their Boxing Day clash with Arsenal, should give Malouda the opportunity to regain some form.

Carlos Tevez arrives back in the Forward rankings and topples Fernando Torres to second, while Dimitar Berbatov is the big climber – ousting Darren Bent for third spot. Wayne Rooney, Didier Drogba and the in-form Danny Welbeck are all on the rise this week. Expect further a further climb for the 5.1 Welbeck once this Gameweek has passed – the Sunderland striker is ineligible for the trip to Old Trafford.

The Watchlist will be refreshed once more ahead of Gameweek 21; there may well be a few tweaks along the way but we will alert you to any updates as they occur over Christmas.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Ok, 2.7 mil in the bank. Transfer opinions please?

    Robinson
    Coleman Vidic Dann
    Nasri Nani(c) Cahill Pedersen
    Carroll Tevez Elmander

    [Foster Bale Ivanovich Perch]

Thinking of getting Dann out for Baines, and next week Bardsley in for Coleman?

Plan sounds good. Unsure about bringing Baines in now, what with Arteta returning to dominate set pieces, and his main assist outlet leaving in the form of Cahill's rather profitable forehead. In addition Everton don't look especially good at keeping clean sheets, even moreso now that Jags is out.

So many transfers I'd like to make this week...tempted to take a hit but probably best waiting until the new year and wild-carding.

Rooney tops my list to replace Torres - Blackpool are a liability when it comes to playing games in the cold.

Would love VDV, Cesc and Tevez too though...

    Decisions, decisions.

I would exercise some patience with Torres, cast your eye to his two relatively kind home fixtures after the Blackpool game, if you've brought him in you may as well give him a chance to deliver. Rooney isn't exactly playing any better than him at the minute.I like your team oveall but personally I'd lose Arshavin, and don't have much confidence in Defoe producing regularly this year

Yeah I went for Arshavin a few weeks back because the leader of one of my leagues had Nasri...worked against me but i'm planning to get rid of him after they Chelsea game.

I know what you mean about Defoe, would love Tevez and Rooney but it's going to mean not getting Cesc which i'm not sure if i want to do.

Rooney is looking better than Torres at the moment...close to being back to himself again

Fair enough. Considering how I've been burnt with the big names this season, I'm going to wait until Rooney or Fabregas have a strong performance or two before bringing them in, but then you do risk missing out on the original haul. It's a tough call. Still, I'd hang on to Torres, if the Blackpool game does go ahead then with the way they play he will get chances, and if not you have a strong bench to deal with it, leaving him nice and fresh to Wolves and Bolton, who must have two of the lowest clean sheet counts in the league. Maybe lose Arshavin and bring in Tevez for Defoe, but switch either Torres or Tevez to Rooney if his form lights up?

Haha no worries. Yeh you make a good point on Defoe to Tevez, I can actually afford it without taking a hit and it seems the more sensible option.

I can't see many Arsenal players scoring well against Chelsea so will leave Arsh for this week.

That Jagielka injury has thrown a spanner in the works. Was planning on keeping for this week and then shipping next week for Dawson, might just make that change this week and then do Elmander > Wellbeck or Gyan next week.

Be pretty happy with my team after that until the wildcard i think, will be:

    Foster Jaask
    Rafael Dawson Kolarov Simpson Jara
    Fabregas Nasri Nani Malouda VDV
    Carroll Tevez Wellbeck/Gyan

    Any thoughts?

Pending team news - Nasri to VdV looks ok right? Nasri has Che(h) Wig(a) Bir(a) so I'd expect fairly modest returns.

For the 11th spot - Foley Vs Wig (home) or Barton Vs Mcy (home)?

Yes im sure her view is sincere and nothing at all to do with the lad culture on SSN where unless you dress like a slut, act like a slut and now actually pretend to fancy other women your out on your ear.

Can anyone explain to me the point of your team value being the total it would be to buy them. Surely its value is what you can sell them for?
My team value is £106.1m but if you add them all up it comes to £104.3. The first figure is pointless.
You sell a player for £8m and buy a player for £8m but your team value goes down.

That's true, but it is nice to see the £106.1 figure. But £106.1 represents the total value of your team, so it's not pointless, it doesn't represent the "sell on" value of your team, but that doesn't really matter

Admittedly Italian football is not my strong point but what exactly did Ballotelli do to win the golden boy? I saw plenty of clips of him but did he actually deserve best in the world? How exactly did ozil not win it?

        Özil is too old.

Not really sure what Balotelli really did do to win it, but I do think he is one of the u21 players who has the most potential. Physically he is frightening for his age.

I expect him to blow it bigtime though, and remain a promise but nothing more for the rest of his career.

Oh right sorry, the sourse I found the nominations on mentioned his name, it was a forum though so nothing official. But surely the prize is awarded on current ability and not potential?

            I don't know but I think so.

I've not watched him much enough last year to be honest. When I did watch Inter I mainly remember him coming on as a sub lately and getting a yellow card and gesturing towards the fans though.

I don't think you really have to sell Balotelli. He'll probably get more chances. Good team you have. I think I'd get on the Carroll wagon if I were you.

    All,

I have 2 free, need to make a transfer or i lose it.
Over the next few weeks i'd like to get in a Sunderland defender, for who?

I'd also like to do T Cahill -> VDV and Elmander -> Tévez, but this week Elmander and Cahill have better fixtures so i'll leave them for now. The same applies to Jarvis who will go in the next 2 weeks.

    My team:

    Foster / Gilks
    A Cole / R Ferdinand / Konchesky / Kolorov / Jara
    Nani / Cahill / Barton / Nasri / Jarvis
    Elmander / Carroll / Drogba

    Any ideas?

Get rid of Gilks for Gordon?
Dump Jarvis a week early as he is a doubt anyway?
Do the VDV and Tévez transfers a week early?

    Hi guys

Have 2 free transfers this week but can't see anything obvious to change. Should I use the one transfer to give me more in the bank, e.g. cole to ivanovic? as I only have 0.3 in the bank. I don't like "wasting" the one freebie I have by not using it but I'm in the nice position of being happy with my team for the upcoming week.

    Squad:
    Foster Krul
    Givet ACole Vidic Baines Jara
    Bale Cahill Nani Yaya Nasri
    Drogs Elmander Carroll

    Any chance Donavon is on his way back to Everton or did i hear correctly that he ruled it out? This is from his twitter this morning;
