As our recent Tweet has revealed, Andy Carroll’s availability for the Gameweek 23 remains a doubt, with Alan Pardew granting the striker a break in the sun to help him recuperate for the derby match with Sunderland.

Carroll has been sent to Dubai to rest and he is not set to return to a chillier climes until Wednesday with his fitness is set to be assessed the following day. Carroll’s Fantasy owners remain in the dark on his chances of making the Sunderland clash then but Alan Pardew did at least offer us this on the situation…

“It’s an injury that’s difficult to judge because it’s just a small tear in his thigh, but it’s a big muscle. Striking balls is a big problem. He’s walking and getting around feeling no problem but it’s when he starts kicking it will cause him a problem. We won’t know his chances until next Thursday.”

Carroll has already suffered an Fantasy Premier League price drop to 6.4 following his absence over the past two Gameweeks; his ownership has fallen from 54% to 47% in that time. With the Gameweek 22 wildcard now active, his sales seem set to continue and only confirmation of his availability for the clash with the Black Cats will likely stem that tide.

Personally, I’m holding tight. Like many of his Fantasy owners, I would suffer a heavy loss of funds if I sold Carroll on and, given his consistency and Newcastle’s mini-revival under Pardew, he may even present a decent differential on his return. That stance depends greatly on Thursday’s assessment however; if the prognosis suggests a prolonged absence, Carroll will surely suffer accelerated sales as wildcards are put to use before the Gameweek 27 deadline.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

A little surprised Tevez have so many % in the captain poll.

I do believe City will beat Wolves, but City are pretty bad at home and so many people keep saying everything they won't captain Tevez again. Is that forgotten?

Not sure myself, (c) on Fabregas atm but i'm strongly considering Tevez.

Tevez rarely scores more than one at home. In fact City rarely score more than one at home.

Really? No Tevez/Torres/Rooney/Fabregas/Drogba/Malouda/Vidic/Lampard - looks like an ultra-cheap side.

I'd gamble and skipper RVP, but Nasri's a shout.

    I don't have a captain this week.

    thinking of doing

    drogs -> Tevez (c)
    yaya -> nani

Also, I have a strong feeling Tevez might not fire, so instead i will try some DGW player?

Half of his owners doesn't know there is a WC/or doesn't do tranfers.

He'll be back pretty soon so 40-45% will still have him I think.

pros: penalties, free kicks and corner.
cons: he is still far away from top form and is sh*t every game.

There would be a big ass pro if I could find what to do with the 2.9M, nothing I couldn't leave without though. Also potential con is that I know as soon as I sell Drogs he'll catch fire again. It's not like he's playing THAT badly so he's one or two great saves away from scoring every game.

That is an issue, because in "lesser games" Chamakh might play. I have sort of convinced myself that I'm stuck with Drogs, as I don't really rate the Man United forwards higher (heresy for a Red Devils fan -- oh what does the Fantasy League do to you), I have Tevez, don't want Torres, and like I said I believe if you don't have the extra money earmarked for something why put it in the bank?

I'm using the wild card this GW and trying to plan ahead for the GW27 DGW. The thing about GW27 is that even though heaps of teams of playing twice, most of them aren't on my radar, e.g. Stoke, Wolves, W.Brom, Brum. Kind of limits the options.

it says to replace the head every 18 months because in that time you shave an area the size of a football pitch

Speaking of razoring I'm attempting with mixed success to cultivate my first proper beard out of boredom (besides it's in the archaeologists rulebook - must have beard post 30), it's really blonde (whereas I've brown hair) and makes me look like one of the Germans at Stalingrad. Needless to say the Missus hates it so could be doing with a new razor. 🙂

In a way Attila, the Hughton sacking has a silver lining. Seeing as Pardew is a personal friend of Ashley's, more money will surely be available and players like Andy Carroll won't be sold, whereas im that would not have been the case under Hughton

Indeed he may be. It is a real shame that Harry has clearly taken a disliking to him. Having said that Bentley's done himself no favours with his attitude... took him far too long to realise that he wasn't Beckham MK2. Far too long faffing around with his hair and not enough time getting his head down.

Still, he'll always be a alright in my eyes after that goal against Le Arse.

I can't see why he wouldn't, he's been excellent this season, whereas Neville has been awful and JOS hasn't been much better.

Im goin Rafeal, Nani Berba currently, i dont fancy a double up on any defence when United got easily score a load of goals and you'd be left out

My big issue is Nasri & Carroll v RVP & Nzogbia

Favouring the latter as it allows an earlier wildcard (week 24) to take advantage of arsenal nice fixtures with fabs and RVP who i believe are better than Nasri and fabs (so many times RVP and fabs made runs of each other centrally and nasri was the assister of the assist almost v city)

I cant believe not many others fancy a punt on RVP after Westham, he could have got 15 points last night.

              And very low ownership

Not really, RVP's injury prone and Wenger will want to preserve him. Chamakh deserves games and Bendtner's up there too.

Stoke and Wolves aren't exactly the type to lie down

I dissagree. When RVP plays 90% of the matches
Rotation is a possibility and so is injury but that comes with nearly every player

Simply going on past seasons when RVP has been fit he leads the line for Arsenal and I expect this if he keeps fit.

In other season's there hasn't been great back up. It's different now with Chamakh.

Just my opinion, I don't think he'll play both.

imo there is a massive chance rvp will be a victim of the ease of the fixtures with bendtner playing one and chamakh the other. best case scenario rvp will start one of them imo. not sure what the champions league schedule is around then

Not being a member here but ive heard and it seems pretty evident Berba is helped by Rooney this year re points total and fpl potential

Rooney scampers outside the box and berba poaches the goals so berba going on this is better value

For the 2mil difference i think id rather Berba currently.

Am I the only one that while looking at people's teams thinks that a penalty should be introduced for bonehead moves like keeping people that are not in the country (Cahill), clearly injured (Caroll) or suspended (Defoe) in your starting XI -- assuming you have enough playable people on the bench? You've signed up for the game take at least a couple of minutes during the week to pay attention and update your damn team!

OK enough venting here, I know I'll get blasted for this, but I'm just saying.

kyle walker to get regular games for villa? they have a run of nice home games on the horizon so could be an alternative cheapie to simpson and foley. he's not on the list oddly despite playing for spurs in gw2.

true. i doubt this walker would go to villa though if he wasn't going to get games. now petrov is fit if him dunne, collins and freidel can get their act together i'd rather back a villa defender than foley for example. tempted to go simpson and walker for the rest of the season

    Hi,
Need advice on WC team...thinking something like...

    Foster - Gordon
    Rafael - Kolorov - Coleman - Dann - Bardsley
    Fabs - Nasri - VDV - Nani - Adam
    Tevez - Berbatov - Carroll

Or would it be better long(ish) term to have Bale + Drogba (or Rooney) instead of Fabs + Berbatov?

    Thanks!

Found a way of being able to get Fabregas in without using the wildcard. I can do G Johnson > Alcaraz to get the money and then do Cahill > Fabregas. Will leave me with 0 in the bank so need to keep an eye on rises and drops this week..

Need a cheap defender though and seeing as it is a hit I'd prefer someone who has a DGW so at least if they are shit it is justified a little more. Anybody else under 4.5 you reckon? Annoying Bardsley is 4.6! 🙁

Yeah I thought Djourou, would only be short term until wildcard after all.

Nice, didn't realise Bramble was that cheap. Scared of him getting an own goal but still, great value for a Sunderland defender at the moment. Definitely not Carr, already have Foster.

i expected a complex plan, a collection of transfers of bamboozling complexity. not a pretty basic switcheroo that involves getting rid of a player who's in qatar for the month

Just depends how long Verm is out. Fabrinski is a cheap route for an Arsenal player..

Seeing the last 15 times he has played for Arsenal, the record is 14 wins & the draw to Man City he should become a permanent figure.

Well I basically need to get a cheap defender to fund getting Fabs in and it is down to him, Bramble or Alcaraz. You think he is safe until GW26, the week I plan to wildcard?
