As our recent Tweet has revealed, Andy Carroll’s availability for the Gameweek 23 remains a doubt, with Alan Pardew granting the striker a break in the sun to help him recuperate for the derby match with Sunderland.

Carroll has been sent to Dubai to rest and he is not set to return to a chillier climes until Wednesday with his fitness is set to be assessed the following day. Carroll’s Fantasy owners remain in the dark on his chances of making the Sunderland clash then but Alan Pardew did at least offer us this on the situation…

“It’s an injury that’s difficult to judge because it’s just a small tear in his thigh, but it’s a big muscle. Striking balls is a big problem. He’s walking and getting around feeling no problem but it’s when he starts kicking it will cause him a problem. We won’t know his chances until next Thursday.”

Carroll has already suffered an Fantasy Premier League price drop to 6.4 following his absence over the past two Gameweeks; his ownership has fallen from 54% to 47% in that time. With the Gameweek 22 wildcard now active, his sales seem set to continue and only confirmation of his availability for the clash with the Black Cats will likely stem that tide.

Personally, I’m holding tight. Like many of his Fantasy owners, I would suffer a heavy loss of funds if I sold Carroll on and, given his consistency and Newcastle’s mini-revival under Pardew, he may even present a decent differential on his return. That stance depends greatly on Thursday’s assessment however; if the prognosis suggests a prolonged absence, Carroll will surely suffer accelerated sales as wildcards are put to use before the Gameweek 27 deadline.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Please pick between one of these two options for me -

    Option A

GW23 - Clichy for Djorou, Tchoyi for Nasri
    GW24 - Tevez for Rooney

    Option B
    GW23 - none
GW24 - Kolarov for Hangeland, Tchoyi for Nasri, Tevez for Berbatov

A, but if you mean the transfers the way rounf i think you do then don't get rid of Tevez

Planning to get rid of Tevez for a United striker for the double GW on 24. Bringing Tevez back in when I wild-card.

Seems like a poor choice to me. Tevez fixtures are great regardless of the fact he has no doubles.

I must be in a minority that isn't even tempted by united strikers at the moment. Too hot and cold at the moment, if Rooney gets on a run i might be swayed but that doesn't look like happening anytime soon.

Fair but United fixtures from 24-26 are better than City, esp with the DGW. Also have a couple of games to see how Rooney & Berb get on (against Spurs & Liverpool)

WCing this week, would appreciate feedback on:

    Hart, Stockdale
    Rafael, Coleman, Huth, Dann, Djourou
    Fabs, VdV, Nani, N’Zog, Adam
    Drogs, Tevez, Campbell

Plan to switch Drogs to Torres GW24, then back again GW26.
2 frees for DGW 27 (prob n’zog to Brunt, plus one other)

i would also contend that stockdale may not give up his spot. earlier in the season he was great and there were rumblings gordon wouldnt get his job back. only an injury made the switch back seamless. stockdale may wind up being a steal at 3.9

everyone talking about fabs for gwk24, he may only play a small part if they struggle against ipswich next week and is needed for the 2nd leg that is 3 days later. also they may have a fa cup replay 3 days before wigan at home aswell. with nasri rosicky arshavin song diabi walcott wilshere and ramsey available id wait and see how they fare in the next 2 cup fixtures before bringing him in

Leeds are busy at the top of the Championship this year and don't need a cup run, but even if they get a draw Fabs wont play in the replay - and if there is an upset and Leeds win then there's no replay to worry about

    Morning all.

    Possible WC team:

    Foster / Kingson

    Rafael / Djourou / Bardsley / Simpson / Jara

    Nani / Fabs / Lamps / VDV / Adam

    Berbs / RVP / Varney

    What's the verdict?

Too much to try and fit both Fabs and Lamps in? Midfield is super strong but is defence and attack too weak?

Foster can be picked for most games anyway, so you'd just need a nice cheapie.

          Carson? Al-Habsi?

I've not looked at how well they rotate though yet.

Lamps is a massive punt at this point. Unless you have a lot of ground to catch up in mini leagues (60+ points), I wouldn't risk it personally.

You are spot on - having a shocker this season and got 90+ points to catch-up so figure i have nothing to lose...

Agreed Lamps is a huge cost but as and when Chelsea get it going again (how long have we been saying that?) you've got to think he will be at the heart of it...

Having said that - if i dropped him i would obviously have a lot more cash to throw around.

Yet again - FF doing my head in.

Fair play, 90 points is pretty big and Lamps is as good a punt for a differential as any.

It's an all-in shout but you don't have a huge amount of choice. Good luck!

That is interesting. disney are proper weird, it's like things are judged on how anthropomorphic they are based on the clothes they wear.

Goofy and Mickey may be shirtless, but they're certainly more "human" than Donald, who just wears a shirt.

Or maybe they robbed a person and distributed what he was wearing between them. Sinister.

It's not quite exponential, that's probably where the idea comes from.

Humans have only really been breeding exponentially successfully since agriculture was invented and the birth of civilization.

Plus before a certain period, you'd have to go back and explicitly define "human" - probably as Homo Sapien.

No, it wouldn't. I'm no mathmatician, but you won't even be able to use a simple equation to work out how many humans there ever were since most of the world settled into cities towns and villages.

You'd have to factor in the average death rate (which might be a tad unreliable going back) and the average birth rate for any given year in any given section of the world.

It would be simpler to work out if more than 6 billion people have ever died, just going on average death rates and average populations extracted over a series of large spans of times.

It would be rough, but I bet in the 20th century alone you'll get a very large figure.

Tensile, definitely not. Bone is brittle compared to steel.

Although again, it depends on the kind of steel. I've forgotten a lot about steel from when I was researching kitchen knives a couple of years ago but stainless steel carbon steel and even basic steel can vary massively by nature of its ingredients.

Like Damascan steel (the original stuff rather than the styled stuff you get now)

GW27 is a good time to play it, I agree! The initial statement was 'people should wait til the transfer window's shut to play it', that's what I'm disagreeing with. It just so happens that it coincides with some good reasons to play it then. Spreading this small point out over a handful of posts makes it sound more pedantic than intended, but that's all I'm saying. Waiting to play your wildcard until the transfer window is closed just in case there might be a transfer you like is a bad idea.

What are the general thoughts about Chelsea is it worth keeping players or get rid??

    Hart | Stockdale

    Rafael | Kolarov | Vidic |A Cole | Simpson

    Nasri | VDV | Adam | Nani | Bale

    Elmander | Drogba | Carroll

gonna do Drogba > Rooney for the DGW and need to remove a Man Utd def for somebody

inconsistancy is a nightmare to play with.

The thing with Chelsea is that even though everyone expects them to come out of their slump, it's gonan be a while after that that they start battering teams 5 or 6 nil again.

      Can go without imo

    Nzog/Adam/Fab/VDV/nani
    Torres/Rooney

    8 double gw players

    bench: foster/carrol/carr/bardsley

    gw 25 = no trades
    gw 26 = torres-->tevez
    gw 27 = tevez-->rvp & nzog-->brunt(8 double gw players)
    gw 28 = rvp -->drogba 0.1m in the bank(4 double gw players)

Liverpool at home I'd keep Torres. He's only good at Anfield though, so with Liverpool having 3 home games in 4, it makes sense to give him those games and then ship him out.

Evatt - get rid, double gameweek or not.

Rooney -> Berba (scores well in poor games it seems), gives you the ability to upgrade elsewhere (N'Zog)

0.1 is not enough of a margin, I doubt you'll have the funds by gw28.

    2011

do you say Two-Thousand 11 or Twenty 11?

Im starting to think the human race is getting dumber. Its Twenty 11. a hundred years ago it was nineteen 11, 100 years before that, eighteen 11. Why is this so difficult to grasp? I was willing to put up with the Two-Thousand thing for the first decade, but christ the honeymoon is over, its TWENTY 11!!!

but we WERE the same in 1995, no one said it different. NO ONE. and in 1911, EVERYONE said NINETEEN ELEVEN. EVERYONE. im not talking about political views or clothes we wear. Im talking about numbers, which is supposed to be a constant, without that constant, there would be no math. we have consistently said this every other century ending in ll but you have decided there is no right way starting this century. Why? Why do you feel you have the authority to recognize both as acceptable now, when they never were before?

                  Different numbers isn't it.

Two thousand and eleven is alot less of a mouthful than one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

Regardless, the point of language is to convey meaning, no?

and if someone said to you 20 11, or two thousand and eleven, you'd know what they meant either way - not an issue.

Also, you weren't alive in 1911 so you can't possibly know that - since we are splitting hairs afterall. And on that note, why do you feel like you have the authority to say only one should be recognised as acceptable?

its not my authority, its history's authority. I didnt invent the standard. But it is a standard nonetheless. And keep thinking people said 1911 in any other way. i will find some Edison era recordings, yes i will spend my Friday doing this, but it wont change your stance. You can convey meaning in language with all kinds of idioms and metaphors, but the year? The year bro? I could tell my drill sargeant, no its not lights out at 1900 hours, its 7 o'clock. I know what you mean, but im calling it 7 o'clock. Im going to take the history and standard of your communicating time and say, meh, it dont matter, all the same. Whatever. How about recognize that those who say two-thousand eleven are dopes that when 2000 came, they couldnt figure out how to go back to normal again.

                    fuzzy ramble that was!

Poor logic anyway, i never said that people in 1911 said it differently, i said you can't know they all said it the same way - they're two different things.

If it was such an established norm then there wouldn't be people saying it two different ways, the fact that people seem unsure on whether to say 20 11 or two thousand and eleven means only one thing - a norm HASN'T been established.

Do you see the irony that you're using words like meh in your post. WHAT ABOUT THE HISTORY!?

Language changes, and is flexible. 7o'clock is ambigious, could mean am or pm, 2011 or two thousand and 11 are different ways of saying THE SAME number. That is a completely different.

Out of interest what did you say in the year 2000? Did you call it twenty zero? 2001 = twenty one?

ZING, no you called it the year two thousand, and two thousand and one, didn't you?

                    OH NO, THE HISTORY!!!!

wow you are quite the antagonistic douche. its clearly obvious you never had a strong opinion about it, but you saw a chance to arguementative on a message board and you ran with it, congrats. You talk in circles. Like a politician. You must defend alot of your points with the "thats completely different" angle. Can work for any debate. Just say that and dismiss everything. You cant prove people said it differently. Ok. you cant prove that they did. My grandmother was born not long after. She was surrounded by plenty of people in her youth who were all grown up by 1911. I asked her if anyone said it differently. She said, "How else could you say it?" Exactly.
There is no irony in my using slang stupid. I already made that point. in 2001, i refer it two twenty -0-1. just like it was 19-0-1 or 18-0-1. in 1900 it was nineteen hundred, in 2000 it was two thousand. Can you wrap your brilliant mind around that. look, you use all the tactics that a professional message board antagonist uses. If you decide to initially disagree with someone on a message board, there is nothing they would say to change your stubborn mind, you are too busy focusing on not being proven wrong. ZING? really? ZING? proof of how worried you are about not being wrong you confirmed your own speculation as truth you dipshit. saying things like "out of interest", its so disingenuous, pure snarky message board tripe. and how established does something need to be? several hundred years not enough?
now flex your fingers, put that smug face of yours on, and reply again. Dont let the lack of sunlight in your life get to you.

    Carroll/Tevez/Torres

    Should I wildcard to:
    Foster/*Stockdale*
    Coleman/Rafael/*Djourou*/Simpson/Bardsley
    VdV/Nani/Nasri/Adam/*Cesc*
    Carroll/Tevez/Torres

Really just to get more Arsenal coverage over the next couple gameweeks (including the double in 27). Later hoping I can get Torres -> Drogba (0.1 short now)

Alternative is to sit tight this gameweek and wait for 27 to do a similar thing.

id rather take an 8 point hit than use a wildcard for 3 transfers

Well how much would you change that team with a wild card in gw27?

the wildcard team i initially have pencilled in for gwk27 is very different to that

I was thinking about this. What's the minimum number of transfers required to justify WC? 4? 5?

all up to personal opinion but i think if your not doing 6 transfers then u really shoudl save it

i think by stocking up on dbl gwk players and using a wildcard to get rid of them youd make up more than a 16 point hit if that makes sense?

Yeah I'd agree with that. Seems crazy to take any hits at all with a WC in your pocket, but could be worth it.

Not sure I'd go Tevez over Rooney/Berb for GW24.

Djourou - 4.2mill, nice short term option given Arsenal's decent run of fixtures? Surely he's guaranteed to start after a strong showing against City and Sagna serving a 3 match ban?

Arsenal didn't need to do much defending against City though. Djorou's 2bps are a mystery to me. Joe Hart was City's most attacking player
