The double-gameweeks start right here, right now as round two in the battle of the ‘Pools kicks off in the Premier league and the Dugout Disucssion opens it’s doors especially. Ian Holloway is playing host to his hero Kenny Dalglish and there’s all sorts of interesting tittle-tattle to take from this game…

Charlie Adam is considered one of the hot properties of this winter transfer window and now he has another chance to show just what he’s worth. Perversely, Liverpool are reported to have entered to race for the Scot so will want to see their target play a blinder but somehow come a cropper this evening.

As for the teams, the baby boom continues on Merseyside as new father Glen Johnson is drafted back into the Liverpool defence, seemingly at left-back with Fabio Aurelio not capable of two games in a week, Martin Kelly more than deserving of his place in the XI and Paul Konchesky very much on the bench and out of the fray. The midfield gets even stranger as two of Liverpool’s worst summer signings -Milan Jovanovic and Christian Poulsen- are drafted in. Can Kenny get out of them what Roy Hodgson couldn’t? I’m guessing we’ve got a 4-3-2-1 on our hands, but it’s hard to tell.

Blackpool meanwhile set out a fairly predictable side after the rest the FA Cup afforded the squad, Elliot Grandin has sufficiently recovered from injury to jump right back into the starting side. Line-ups in full are…

Blackpool XI: Kingson; Eardley, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey; Adam, Vaughan, Grandin; Taylor-Fletcher, Campbell, Varney

Liverpool XI: Reina; Kelly, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson; Poulsen, Lucas; Kuyt, Meireles, Jovanovic; Torres

We will of course be keeping a close eye on affairs in the Carling Cup too. Arsenal are looking to get a head of steam on Ipswich in their first leg. The Dugout Discussion is of course on hand for anyone needing their Wednesday night fix.

Good week, moved up about 100k...but still with a less than impressive overall rank haha

    Foster Robinson
    Konchesky Kolarov Coleman Shawcross Jara
Nasri Nani Adam Van Der Vaart Ferguson
    Torres Tevez Campbell

Thinking Konchesky and Shawcross to Hangeland and Rafael over the next two weeks in preparation for the next DGW. Planning to wait a bit longer before using my WC, probably closer to GW25 or GW27.
Could get in N'Zogbia or Dempsey for Ferguson, but cannot stand the selection headache!
    Any thoughts

That's what I did for my 1st wildcard back in gw2 but it was alot easier because there was so many price rises. Gained about 1.0 in the week.

Wildcard aren't really made for gaining value. They are more for getting 15 players you will use over the next few weeks minimum. Hardly any trades made. Next 2 days will see alot more trades.

Obviously the 1st was more likely to gain value. The forced one should gain you something as most teams will be similar but nothing like the 1st one as price correction was alot stronger with the early value for money around.

Hi Switchfoot4, I do play NRL Supercoach. I finished 545th out of 121K & the league I was in finished 2nd. We had a few dead teams that kept us from 1st spot. Get in touch with me in a month etc. 🙂

That's the one. We have a guy who has finished 3rd overall for the past 2 years running. The team that finished 1st had more than one team & got caught out. I think the team that finished 2nd won the $30000. I would be interested if it's a overall position comp rather than a H2H one as any luckbox can win in the finals.

Is N'Zogbia back this week ?

Im not using my wildcard till after gm26 , i had thought i would swap Bale for Fabregas this week , however looking at the ficxtures i think i will just go Bale to n'Zogbia instead.

    23 home to Fulham
24 home to villa away to arsenal
    25 away to wba
    26 home to Blackburn

I know Wigan been poor ltely but that partly due to NZogs absense.

Hoping more than anything. He is only an attacker now so has to play vs sides that look easy on paper or else they may aswell sell him. Mancini quotes makes his chances of playing more likely. He will have to go when my WC occurs. If I get 2 from Rafael I will be pleased. He could easily get an assist or a bp.

Fantasy Football Scout Mark and contributors, I’d like to request some information regarding Lampard. As he is at the cheapest price he is likely to be all season, and wildcards are in full swing, this would be a great time to analyse his opta stats/heat maps/key passes etc.

I think back to that article after Gameweek 1 which showed Lampard as playing deeper than Ashley Cole and Essien in the Ancelotti formation, I am curious as to whether there has been a noticeable change since his return from injury, i’d like to establish how ‘essential’ he is, if the money he costs is really worth it.

Perhaps an article highlighting an XI of players that come with high reccommendation for the remainder of the season would do the trick, and would provide those wildcarding with food for thought.

    Thanks, Greg.

I thought as much, however would you say that those people putting Lampard in are taking a considerable risk given Chelsea's poor form? I for one have not contemplated Lampard until now, Drogba I've considered because he had a little run of goals/assists without being too spectacular.

you can look at the 4 games he has played and cfc havent changed much results or performance wise and in those games he has scored 1 penatly so im not so sure.
People talking about him for the dgw in 27 makes more sense since you can see if he gets some form.

malouda/drogba/essien are not high on confidence, teams know they can get at chelsea's defense and cause them problems now, their mighty aura/cloak of inpenetatability has gone, hence where they are. for me they are destined to struggle for a while longer yet.

when ivanovic/alex/terry/cashley line up together again i#m sure that will help the team confidence-wise

Need to swap out one of Konchesky or Dann this week as highly likely neither will be playing on the weekend. I'm WCing this week, so that gives me a free transfer for 1 week only of up to £6.2m. What defender below that value is most likely to keep a cleany. Will Bosingwa or Ferreira start for Chelsea do you think?

impossible to tell if either will start i'm afraid. ancelotti may even tell you on friday in a press conferance, but he won't tell you he's gonna sub one for the other on 57 minutes. prceed with caution.

same with kolorov, at 5.7 you don't know if he's gonna play or be subbed pre-60th

i'd go with huth, stoke good chance of clean sheet at home to bolton and potential attacking returns as good as anyone bar baines

So initial plan was to do Clichy -> Djorou this week so that I could afford Tchoyi -> Nasri next week. But now I wonder if I need to transfer Konchesky out. Team linked. Opinions?

I reckon stick to your initial plan. Your defenders are good enough to have Konch on the bench for one week.

    Hi all, at the moment I have;

    Foster (Stockdale)
    Baines, Bardsley, Djourou (Konchesky, Evatt)
Fabregas, Nani, Adam, Van Der Vart, Bale
    Drogba, Bent (Carroll)

    Thinking of wildcarding to this;

    Foster (Stockdale)
    Bardsley, Coleman, Djourou, (Raphael, Evatt)
Fabregas, Nani, Adam, Van Der Vart, N’Zogbia
    Tevez, Drogba (Carroll)

I will most likely switch Drogba for Rooney the following double gameweek. The problem is I’d had to bench one of Adam, N’Zobgia or Carroll each week.

    Any recommendations?

It's almost exactly my probable WC team, so I like it!

I've gone Al-Habsi over Stockdale and Hangeland instead of Bardsley.

Thanks Dave, I'm not sure if I should do it now or wait till next week. You're not worried about having to bench one of Adam, N,Zog or Carroll every week. I can see myself benching the wrong guy every week! 🙂

I can't decide that either...several of those I want to bring in will go up before the next deadline, but doing it now I think gives me a weaker team for this gameweek.

I think I'll base it on Carroll - if he's declared fit, I'll do it, if not I'll wait.

And yes I am worried about that!

Does anyone know, or know how to find out, the winning score every year for FPL? I know Reeson last year got 2668, but what about previous years?

PS How badly is Reeson doing this year? Poor bloke has got Bardsley and Coleman on his bench this week. Ouchie.

I made a couple of attempted damage limitation trades the two or three times I had time and access to a net cafe. This was often days before the deadline but no option. I didn't have time to study detailed injury, form and rotation information, just time to read the site articles. I think that's evident in my team performance. That's what I'm sad about.
