Arsenal’s class proved too much for Leeds’ bluster in pulsating FA Cup replay at Elland Road. Samir Nasri’s weaved his magic to create the foundations, before Robin Van Persie ultimately ended the hopes of the Championship challengers in front of their noisy faithful…

Arsene Wenger predictably shuffled his teamsheet once again. In came Nicklas Bendtner, Chamakh, Kieran Gibbs, Denilson, Arshavin and Bacary Sagna – the latter returning from a three-match suspension. That meant that the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Robin Van Persie, Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Gael Clichy and Emmanuel Eboue all dropped out.

Samir Nasri was handed the skipper’s armband on the night with Cesc Fabregas starting life on the bench. The Frenchman responded with a display typical of a season which has seen him emerge as Player of the Year candidate. Nasri’s smart finish for Arsenal’s opener was the icing on a cake crafted from seemingly endless prompting and passing. Nasri glided through a crowded Elland Road midfield to dominate matters. He remains a key component of our Fantasy squads, despite the return of Fabregas and Robin Van Persie onto the Arsenal scene.

That pairing played their part in the victory – both emerged from the bench to combine to kill the tie off. It was Fabregas’ pass that set Nicklas Bendtner scurrying down the right flank to find Van Persie with a delicious cross which he duly converted with a header for the third goal; a reminder of the Dutchman’s often forgotten qualities as a centre-forward. Van Persie he offers so much more than far post headers but, in this instance, his ruthless contribution was telling and the goal will only raise his profile further as FPL Managers contemplate their wildcard squads.

Bacary Sagna had earlier blasted Arsenal into a two goal lead – an advantage that looked unassailable given their dominance. Bradley Johnson’s incredible 30-yard effort changed the complexion but Arsenal’s class and Van Persie’s intervention was to prove too much for Simon Grayson’s side.

Wenger’s team selection for the weekend clash with Wigan will be interesting. We should of course expect starting roles for Van Persie and Fabregas. Theo Walcott would also seem set to earn a recall and his fifth consecutive league start. He will likely come in for Andrey Arshavin who dwindled several opportunities at Elland Road. The back four would seem likely to remain untouched, aside from Clichy’s recall to left-back. Johan Djourou looks set to continue then and offer clean sheet potential against Wigan for a price of 4.2.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Hmmm – which is better?

    A:
    Vidic Skrtel Coleman Djourou Simpson
    VdV Nani Fabregas Adam N’Zogbia
    Tevez Berbatov (Carroll)

    B:
    Carroll -> RvP
    and
    Vidic -> 5.0m defender (Kelly/Evatt/Pantsil/Baird)
(which will leave me minus a ManUtd defender)

    C:

My defence for this weekend is
    Kingson
    Coleman/Evatt/Nelsen

Is it worth a 4 point hit to bring in a DGW defender for Kyrigiakos leaving me playing 4-4-2 and having to bench VDV.

Sounds like a silly question, but was considering it??

    Fabs / VdV / Nani / Nasri / Adam
    Tevez / Berbs / Odemwingie

I'm pretty set this week with 7 DGWer's but really want to get Van Persie in next week.

    1) Van Persie and Bale (or Etherington/Nolan)
    2) Berbs and Nasri

also, what are peoples views on nasri vs fabs in team selection?
fabs is pricey and not getting him would free up money for an rvp move, also nasri is looking pretty good value atm

sensible move is to play Hart or if u want to rick it Kingson. but I would guess Kingson will come away with 3-5 points and Hart probably 6 but who knows?

Do you have to? Bench a striker? Otherwise VDV?

I have Tevez, and will have Rooney or Torres too, just testing the water. Just think I dont have enough DGW players, due to Fabs, Nasri, VDV, Coleman, Nelsen, Tevez. Seems silly not to play any of them

Don't get tooooo distracted by the DGW. Tevez, Fabs, Nasri, VDV can certainly all outscore the majority of DGWers.

Anyone want to give me some ideas? Got two transfers this week and don't mind taking a hit because of the doubles. Going to wildcard for gameweek 27 so short term transfers. Replacing drog and konchesky are the priority!

interesting... was thinking of going doing one of these, either:

Drog & Konchesky OUT, Torres & Skrtyl IN
        or
Drog, Konchesky, ShawX OUT, Bent, Skrtyl & Evra in (-4pts)

So, with Welbeck out and Bent gone, looks like Elmo will be playing attacking right wing again??

anything between 6 and 9 should suffice. 11 is overkill

it's important not to get carried away with double gameweeks. Alot of teams have poor dgws, i.e. one of the fixtures is very tough (read 2 points). It's important to remember the calibre of player/team, not just hunt the doubles. For example fabregas could easily get a massive score this week but a lot of people will overlook him because teams like wigan are playing twice
