Rafael Van der Vaart is set to sit out another spell on the sidelines after aggravating his calf injury in training. The Dutchman had just made his return following a calf muscle strain, playing his part in the fine 1-0 win in the San Siro last week.

Harry Redknapp has confirmed that Van der Vaart will miss tomorrow night’s trip to Blackpool, ruling him out for those Fantasy Managers who gambled on him contributing for Tottenham’s second fixture of the gameweek.

“Rafa did his calf again yesterday in training so he’s struggling…Rafa missed a couple of games, played in Milan, got through 70 minutes and then yesterday morning didn’t feel good.”

Although a precious Fantasy commodity, Van der Vaart’s recent fragility is beginning to cause concern.

Spurs have a string of attractive fixtures, with some particularly obliging opponents due at White Hart Lane in the coming gameweeks. Fantasy Managers need Van der Vaart fit and ready to inflict damage in those, but with Redknapp citing fatigue as a possibly root cause of the Dutchman’s problems, there’s real concern that he will be handed rests – particularly if Spurs see off AC Milan in the second leg of their Champions League tie.

In the short-term we are at least given respite by Tottenham’s blank in gameweek 28. Spurs miss out as a result of Arsenal’s involvement in the Carling Cup final and that will give Van der Vaart time to make his recovery for the next league clash with Wolves. Redknapp seems hopeful that his playmaker will be back in the frame for that clash…

“We have a break, with Wolves away next then AC Milan at home. We’re hoping Rafa will be back for Wolves. He should be ok, it’s not a tear.”

Even if he recovers, the concern is that Redknapp will look to use Van der Vaart sparingly against Wolves with the second-leg in mind. That nagging doubt could well see the Dutchman sold on by a lot of his owners prior to Saturday’s deadline, as Fantasy Managers look to ensure that they have an intact starting XI available.

Van der Vaart was ranked second in our recent poll which canvassed opinion on those players being transferred out ahead of the Gameweek 28 deadline.

Hey guys,

Looking towards next week and I'm a little unsure of how to progress. My team atm is:

I think my first priority is getting rid of Brunt but who for, but also think I should bring in Kolarov? Got 1.8 in the bank.

Just to check - the games that now need to be rescheduled are:

1) Chelsea - Birmingham (from GW28)
2) Tottenham - Arsenal (from GW28)

3 & 4) Two fixtures from GW37, as some bright spark has scheduled the F.A. Cup for the same weekend, and it looks like being an all Premier League final.

Is that right for the moment?

    I'm not, really. It is a little bit farcical though... Watson bowled three completely irrelevant overs in the middle of innings, and he'll probably get more bowling points than Lee who took one of their openers.

West Ham, Burnley, or Stoke, will be in one of the FA Cup semi finals.

As will Birmingham or Bolton.

Either an easy route to the final for someone, or an easy final. Also means that in GW33 where these fixtures will be played. West Ham or Stoke and Birmingham/Bolton miss out, so its not really a biggy.

        I've used it all my life. Its a normal everyday word for us black folk.
        
        Chill Pill needs to watch an episode or two of Desmonds to see the word in use in all it's fine afro caribbean glory. Together with the obligatory kissing of teeth which is usually the sound you make to denote your vexness.

    Cheers, not willing to downgrade Fabregas though and don't want Berbatov, since I won't want to keep him. Would be interested in Rooney but can't see how I can afford him without downgrading a player who I consider essential.
    
    Also not really that convinced on loading up for Utd's double. The away game at Chelsea doesn't have FPL points written on it for Utd players. For that reason I'm not so sure Nani is the best captain choice either..

      I thought Fabregas would be essential too but since van Persie has come back I dont think so. I think fabregas and Van Persie is spending too much on one team and Nasri and RvP would be fine but fair enough if you think Fabs is essential! Theres nowhere else you could downgrade.
      
      Away against Wigan is an attractive enough fixture on it's own... plus one extra game where Man U COULD score a few.
