Arsene Wenger has confirmed that his skipper Cesc Fabregas sustained a hamstring injury in tonight’s 1-0 win over Stoke. The Arsenal boss has stated that Fabregas will be assessed on Thursday, prior to Sunday’s Carling Cup Final with Birmingham.

The fear is that Fabregas has suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury, sustained back in November that kept him sidelined for a number of weeks. Wenger had this to say in his post-match comments…

“It is of course a concern that he is injured but it can happen unfortunately. He was very upset, I am as well, but it is not his fault and it is not my fault, it is part of sport. It’s strange that it happened early in the game but we have to face it.”

Theo Walcott is also a major worry for Wenger. The flying winger was stretchered from the field on 71 minutes tonight. Wenger has confirmed that Walcott has suffered an ankle strain and has already ruled him out of Sunday’s final.

Looking beyond Sunday, Fantasy Managers need to consider the likelihood that Fabregas will play a part in Arsenal’s next league game against Sunderland at the Emirates. That match falls just three days before the second leg of the Champions League tie with Barcelona. It therefore seems very unlikely that Fabregas will be risked against the Black Cats given the apparent fragility of the Arsenal’s skipper’s hamstrings.

With Robin Van Persie also nursing a hamstring problem, there’s every chance that Arsenal could go into the Sunderland fixture without arguably their two key attacking players. Wenger has confirmed that Van Persie’s fitness will be assessed on Friday ahead of Sunday’s final.

Fantasy Managers currently sitting on Fabregas and/or Van Persie are faced with a blank fixture in the forthcoming gameweek and must now make a decision whether to risk benching and holding the Arsenal pair, with the hope that they will play some part in gameweek 29.

Right now we’re dealing only in pure speculation but, it has to be said, the chances of Fabregas and possibly Van Persie facing Sunderland, look fairly remote.

We await more information from Mr Wenger.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

don't see the point in people not taking a punt on an everton midfielder with them being at home and having a double next week. You gotta play the averages

an out of form arteta or an unfit cahill over 3 games will surely get more points than some of the names being bounded about

After an almost 100 point week my team suffers of a lack in games and too much yellow cards and injuries:

    stockdale, BERGOVIC
    COLEMAN, djourou, BARDSLEY, HUTH, CATHCART,
    vdv, MEREILES, NANI, adam, fabregas
    rvp,BERBARTOV,TEVEZ

    My thoughts are:

    GW28 (4 point hit)
    Fabregas to Cahill
    Djourou to Kolarov

    GW29
    Stockdale to Foster

    What do you think?

Looks reasonable, depends on the seriousness of injuries. Not sure Djourou to Kolarov is worth 4 points with rotation risk and Arsenals fixtures after the blank.

So much for forward planning, was going to field 10 this week with one hit but now in trouble, what do you think about this:

    Team at present:

    Begovic (Foster)
Kelly Evatt?! Coleman (R Johnson Murphy)
    Nani (VDV Walcott Fabregas Adam)
    Odem Tevez (RVP)

    Have 6.2m in the bank

    Murphy to Baines
What to do with the midfield???
    1) Wait on injury news then cry
    2) Walcott to A Young
    3) Another midfielder for Cahill (if fit)

    Help.

Good news for you sire is that the cash is there...

6.2 in the bank alongside the sale of RVP or Fabs is going to bring in pretty much anyone you want. You could load up on ManU but mids are rotation risk at the mo. May be worth bringing in VanDSar instead of Foster for the double and long term?

Otherwise, there's not much scope at the moment for likely lads. I may look at chelski again, so desperate are the times!

Otherwise 1... Wait on injury news, then cry.

Hmm. Now this is a dilema.
Admittedly, I knew I'd have to swap some players around, notably Arsenal, and in a way it's good that the players injured are ones I was going to swap/bench anyway.

However, now it's a case of figuring out who's out the longest, and it looks like Adam is back in the team.

I'm thinking of Fabregas (for the money) and Wallcott (worst injury?)

But is it worth a 4pt hit to get Perhaps Berbatov (in for RVP) for the double?

Without his 9 yellows, Charlie Adam would be the joint 3rd highest scoring player in the whole FPL and only 4pts off Nani in the midfield rankings. This, for a player who plays for Blackpool whom most people, including me, were avoiding at the start of the season

Just because he's a good FPL player doesn't mean he's that good in real life. I agree he's had a good season and has been very influential within a Blackpool side but I don't think he's that amazing of a player all round.

I don't think this argument works this way round. Any player who scores well in FPL has to be doing plenty right on the pitch. Admittedly he's on penalties, but you don't get all those assists by not being a good player.

There are of course plenty of excellent players who are useless as FPL prospects.

Rangers played him on the left wing as he was the only left sided player we had (minus injury prone beasley). Rangers at that time had the likes of Thompson, Ferguson, Davis, Hamdani all ahead of him in the pecking order in the centre.

I will always remember his FK v celtic (under the wall) & his solo goal v Stuttgart in the CL

If Cahill is fit then I will take a 4 point hit but no way am I doing that when it isn't clear if he'll play. I can field 10 players at the momennt without any transfers so need to be sure not to waste one/two.

Many people are taking hits this week, be it 4pt, 8pt or even 12pt, just to field 11, 10, 9 or even 8 players this week.

    Is it better to:

    1) Take hits to sort out your own team, knowing that just this one week the hits get cancelled out by your rivals taking hits as well
    OR
    2) Take no hits (assuming that your team is balanced enough to navigate thru gw28 without much problem) and gloat at those around you who are losing pts even before scoring has begun

    just a thought

I think a good analogy would be going out with £40 to spend on shopping, but being prepared to spend £20 on your credit card if neccessary.

If I can think of a player that I think could really do well, I might take a 4pt hit.

I also have the benefit of knowing the league leader has 7-8 players out this week.

I'm thinking more long term. Utd's double just doesn't excite me. The only player I'm worried I haven't got is vidic. Rooney and Berba are a lottery. I've already made 1 one transfer this gw and have another free to field 11. That will leave me needing to get brunt and odem out of my team next week so I'll prob either take a hit then or get rid of one of them this gw instead. I'm not taking more than a 4 point hit though, just don't see the point unless you generally only have about 7 or 8 players

RVP zero games Rooney 3 games. Rooney 6pts - 4 for the hit that's 2pts at least and everything he brings you. FPL wise is a bonus. Sound logic?

I bought a SNES and it came yesterday. I like 3 too, but it gets a tad confusing, I think SMW is the more polished game.

Also, it's odd, but a lot of the time having Yoshi is a hinderance because of the slow turnaround.

Absolute genius of a game. Though I like Galaxy, Mario works so much better in platform version.

One thing I would say is once you master flight on Mario World it makes a lot of the levels terribly easy.

Noticed that Kolarov played 52 mins in derby. thats not the first time he's been taken off early. however, is it safe to presume that against easier opposition, he's more likely to play the whole match (2matches)? need him for gw28+9

yes. Him and Fabs are going. Might bring in Cahill and Young, however if depends how long Fab is ruled out for to be honest. If he is going to be back for GW29 I will bring is a cheapie like O'Hara so I can get fabs back in without a hit.

Can we have discussion for Fabs to Lamps? I am starting to think that this is the best transfer. GW 29 I'll bring Nasri as Ars cover hopefully for 1-2 games in the middle, not on the flank. I saw Lampard in CL game and he looked lively. Some penalties also will do the job IMO. The fixtures are good also IMO. I certainly expect from him to bring points in the Utd game too. In the next 6 I am not sure on City game only, but last year he scored 2 in the same fixture. Its time for his strong finish of the season - again!!!

P.S. His mega haul has won my mini league last year. I closed gap of `120pts in 12 GW's. I think everybody that are chasing should do the same transfer, before first big haul comes around.

I'm getting him (if at all) in gw31or32, for his run of 3 home games in 4 and a DGW in GW33. Not now though, MU this week, MC gw30, and Chelsea havent convinced me yet. When TOrres/Drogba/Anelka are taking all the space up front, Lampard doesnt excite me as much. Also have to consider that he actually costs MORE than fabs, so instead of having loads of money to spend when getting rid of fabs, you actually have to conjure up more money to sell fabs. eurgh.

Can only field 8 at the mo - have 1 free transfer - plan is:

    GW28: RVP & Fabs -> Rooney & Cahill/Silva
    GW29: Wingie & Bosingwa -> Saha & Carr
    Gw30: Tevez->RVP or Silva -> Nasri

Sound ok? Cahill or Silva debate - Cahill seems logical given double, but given not certain and lack of form/fitness, is Sliva better?

How does this look for a WC team for this week?

    Begovic (Foster)
    Coleman,Simpson,Walker (Djourou, Kelly)
    Nani,Nolan,Barton,Young (VDV)
    Bent,Rooney,Tevez

3.8 in the bank. Worried there's too much Villa, wanted Cahill but not sure it's worth getting him in if doubtful.

Barton and Nolan might be overkill but will ship Nolan for Adam as soon as the ban is over, and Adam/Barton rotate very well.

    Have a team of

    Hart, Foster
Walker, Kelly, Panstil, Carr, R Johnson
    Etherington, VDV, Nani, Fabregas, Walcott
    Rooney, RVP, Odemwingie

Looking at a bit of a headache for this week coming. Considering bringing in Everton midfielders for VDV and Walcott and then possibly Tevez for RVP. Am willing to take a point hit to get enough players actually on the pitch, figure it works out positively if the players I get score at least 2 points a game.

Any thoughts/ suggestions will be much appreciated.
