The Watchlist rankings have had their weekly refresh and earned a new update today following last night’s events. You’ll find the current standings in the bottom of your right sidebar.

Double gameweek’s again have an influence, although many of the assets amongst the Everton and Birmingham squads all appear to come with caveats, suggesting that the allure of the double fixtures is nowhere near as strong this time around. Old favourites hold the top spots then, and there’s a real dilemma amongst the strikers on offer as injuries and rotation cut the options and may well force some risk-taking.

Ben Foster’s two forthcoming double fixtures earns him top ranking amongst the goalkeepers with Arsenal’s Wojciech Scezesny and Chelsea’s Petr Cech, his nearest rivals. Cech’s fixtures, capped by his own double in gameweek 33, enables him to take up his highest ranking for a good while.

Uncertainty in the Chelsea back four also boosts Cech’s appeal, although David Luiz has suddenly emerged as a real Fantasy prospect, compounded by his impressive showing against United last night. Yellow and even red cards may be a concern, but his energy and power looks certain to catch the eye of Bonus judges, while clean sheets could arrive given the opponents lined up for Carlo Ancelotti’s men. Champions League ineligibility only bolsters the case for Luiz.

He’s a high climber in the defender rankings then, but hovers just outside the top five with Seamus Coleman and Roger Johnson’s doubles keeping them in the top echelons. Johnson is marked as an unconfirmed injury doubt right now and could be swapped out for Liam Ridgewell if his knee injury looks set to sideline him for the weekend clash with West Brom at St Andrews. Fulham’s Brede Hangeland and Tottenham’s Michael Dawson look handy differentials in the mid-price if you’re in the market for such a thing – again, fixtures play a major part in their attraction for the coming weeks and have them ahead of the likes of Robert Huth and Aleksandar Kolarov.

Samir Nasri and Ashley Young are undoubtedly the hot properties in midfield right now and the fixture list should bring them continued returns over the coming weeks. Nasri’s potential will likely be increased as a result of injuries to both Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie – the Frenchman should assume penalty and free-kick duties as a result. More on him to come.

Fulham’s Clint Dempsey is another high climber and makes the top five with two strong home fixtures on the horizon. The American is the big goal threat from Mark Hughes’ side and, although unlikely to be handed a strikers role, he continues to return goal attempts with regularity. A goal or two in the next 3-4 gameweeks looks very likely.

Wolves’ Jamie O’Hara is of course the budget option of choice. Ineligible against Spurs this weekend, the loanee still hast the fixtures in the coming weeks and indeed, until the end of the season, to flourish further in Fantasy terms. We’re expecting big Bonus returns from him given his level of influence within a fairly unspectacular Wolves lineup.

The rankings amongst the forwards are really hard to call. Carlos Tevez holds top spot despite faltering form; his fixtures look to offer enough assistance to turn this around and, it must be said, there’s a lack of consistent rivals to threaten him. Wayne Rooney is showing form and has decent fixtures and gets closest his City rival, while Daniel Sturridge, Louis Saha (with his double fixture) and Moussa Dembele, all have strong appeal as differentials. The absence of Robin Van Persie and the insecurity amongst the Chelsea frontline really does limit our current options however. The current level of uncertainty and the opportunity for differentials in this area appears to offer hope for those currently chasing a mini-league lead.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    My team are:

    Foster,Robinson
    Dawson,Coleman,Simpson,Bosingwa,Kelly
    Nani,Yaya,Cahill,VDV,Nolan

I have Kelly, Cahill, VDV and VP out this week, should I use my wc to set up the team for the last stretch?

Just me, but I think you can field a strong team this week with just a 4 point hit and save your wildcard. Cahill and RVP are both out for weeks so replace them, hold onto everyone else.

Cahill out, Young or Nasri in
      RVP out, Zigac in

For another 4 points, maybe bring in Baines or a Brum defender, or hold off until next week to address the defense.

Both decent teams. Just a couple of points..
I wouldn't touch Dawson or any Spurs defender.
If VDV looks fit for the weekend stick him in.
It'll be tough to decide who to bench.
No money in the bank gives you no room for manoevre in your next few transfers.
You're going to be changing your team around by gw33 for the 4 dgw teams and you're pretty light on Spurs & Arsenal. Since there's such huge gaps between GW's coming up i'd probably hold off on the wildcard til then. As it is both wc teams have alot of flavour of the week and it's set up only really for the next couple gws.

    Alreet lads

I can't stop staring at Arsenals fixtures (SUN,wba,BLA,blp,DGW) and crying at the thought of all the points Fabs, RVP and Walcott would have racked up. But then I brighten up when I think that EVERYONE would have them anyway. I'm doing the obligatory Walcott > Nasri, but its still not enough, I want more. I'm seriously thinking of getting Bendtner in for RVP!! This would go against my better judgement (he's basically crap) but I can't help thinking that arsenal will create about a million chances over the next 4 games, if even a few of them bounce in off his arse then he could get loads of points.

The one thing that is putting me off is the thought of him playing on the wing. What do we expect the line up to be on saturday?

Possibly, but going on his injury history, I would expect him to be out for longer than expected and then probably start from the bench. You're right though, if it looks like he would start for BLA, blp then he would be straight back in. At most I would be risking a 4pt point hit for an extra transfer. As my 3 arsenal players are injured at the moment, hopefully their replacements would have done enough against SUN, wba to cover that.

Basically I would be gambling that he would miss more than the predicted 2 games. The same gamble worked when I got rid of Carrol when his injury was first announced.

If I go for anyone else, other than Bendtner then I would be faced with the prospect of going into the blackburn and blackpool games without an arsenal forward (or look to get RVP back in after 2 games anyway). I don't think my nerves could take that!

It was posted awhile ago. The latest update was "Greetings from Dubai, it’s really amazing! Enjoying the sunny weather over here but also training hard to get fit again of course :)" at the end of Feb. I'd go A if VDV said anything positive. Got a feeling Birmingham may not a clean sheet this dgw though.

        1) Rafael is v unlikely to start due to O'Shea form and No Vidic/Rio experience in defence.

        2) VDV is doubtful due to injury

        3) Berbatov far from assured a starting spot given Chico form and playing away at Liverpool.

arteta should get 4 points just for playing both games, so worth a hit straight up if you cant field 11. Also if you have a def that will be a 1 or 2 pointer then not much gound for atreta to be worth the hit. I waiting to see some news if arteta will play an att role this week.

Hey Inalize, you reckon it's worth an 8 point hit to do
Rafael & Cahill -> Johnson & Nasri this week. I'm thinking if VDV is passed fit then just do Nasri, otherwise do both...Current squad (after my free hit of Wingie -> Zigic) is:

    Foster, (Stockdale)
    Djourou, Kolarov, Coleman, Rafael, (Kelly)
Nani, A Young, VDV, (Adam), (Cahill)
    Tevez(c), Zigic, Berbatov

Am getting rid of RVP this week HOWEVER I DO NOT want Tevez or Rooney as I am crazy stupid and don't wanna have a striker everyone owns. SO, I wanna get a Chelsea forward, I am leaning torawrds Torres the most because I think he's gonna go crazy very soon.

Well, I don't want Rooney or Tevez, everyone has them. And yes the Chelsea forwards are a risk but I only see Man City as a problem, I think most games after that are winnable, and I want to profit from those wins.

I can't explain it. I'm just drawn to Chelsea at the moment. I want one of their strikers. I see their fixtures as quite profitable, other than Man city. Also, Torres has to find some form soon right? I mean, it's either he scores against Blackpool or gets mobbed by some REALLY angry Chelsea fans right?

But, at some point, Torres is going to score again.

For strikers goals are like buses. You wait ages for one to come and when they do they tend to come in pairs..

Torres could do nothing again this weekend. He could also do a Berbatov this weekend against a woeful defence that are going to give him plenty of opportunites to open his Chelsea account.

If ever you were going to take a risk on him this season then surely this week is it?

brought nasri in last night, saw he got through his appearance against the O's ok and I beat the price rise. Nice. however, waiting for other shoe to drop as I got rid of brunt when i have 3 unavailable players. So now i still have no bench when i could have had at least one option, but that just defines how badly I wanted rid of Brunt!!! Be gone you 1 point magnet!!!

    Szczesny

    Coleman, Carr, Huth, Simpson

    Nani, VDV, Nasri

    Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov

(Cahill, Adam, Kelly) .8 in bank

Who is the weakest link in the lineup?

Is it worth 4 points to get a birm mid in for adam or arteta in for cahill, benching weakest link?

Is this squad green arrow worthy as is?

brunt was a nice value player the first half of the season, since the new year hes done phuck all. I cant bring in a forward when i have 3 already available, gotta be a mid. plus i have no faith in birmingham attack. Averaging less than a goal a game for the year doesnt excite me.

            +1

Fuzzy - Im also not a Zigic/Birm fan, but if you are sitting with Berba(like me) then it's nice to know that Birm rotate excellent home/away with ManU.

Plus you are probably 100% guaranteed 8pts from Zigic over gw 29 and gw 33. After which zigic is toast.

Also makes it possible to load up on the big hitters in the midfield: VDV/Nasri/Nani/Young/Arteta

      Everton(29-33) & Villa(29-36) have nice fixtures. Maybe Saha/A young?

brought rooney last week to max out for the double, worked out ok, of course if had rooney already and brought in berbs, that would have been poor. berbs will go as soon as a striker i trust is hitting form. but after his trick against liverpool last time out, and the fact that kellys absence makes the backline look more like it did earler in the season when pool were leaking goals, makes me feel ok with having both, not tremendously excited, but ok 🙂

nasri and arteta seems logical for fabs and walcott, nasri gives you the arsenal coverage and areta gives you a DGW to help absorb the hit. can you afford cahill/walcott for those two and keep fabs? dont know how long youd want arteta and cahill together on the team, even with the kind fixtures.

I think it will work it out. The previous week was the way to go with bug point hits IMO, but so be it. No time for loosing make the hit, improve your team.

Opps u can't buy Ferguson and Zigic. Check with your cash then

Pretty sure I can't don't those trades with my money situation. Selling Cahill might do the job though.

Who will get more gametime over the the dgw Saha or beckford, or should both be first choice coz Cahill is out? I'm thinking beck coz of saga injury record

I agree those old people do tend to pick up injuries. 😉

Injuries and suspensions have just ravished my squad.

Took a shot on Cahill over Young last GW - had RvP, Cesc, Djourou and brought in Smalling...

Adam and VdV are out as well.

    So team is:
    Foster/Begovic
    Smalling/Walker/Bardsley/Coleman/Kelly
    Cahill/Adam/VdV/Nani/Ferguson
    Tevez/Berbatov/RvP

Leaving me with a team of:
    Foster
    Smalling/Walker/Bardsley/Coleman
    Nani/Ferguson
    Tevez/Berba

    9 for the gameweek!

Is it worth taking a serious points hit (8) to bring in players, thinking Kelly -> Baines, Cahill -> Young/Nasri, RvP -> Saha/Bent

    Any ideas?

I've taken an 8pt hit and may yet do one more. I think a lot of people will be in the same boat,so the normal damage of points hits probably won't be as great. On my recent record however, I'll give you the best help I can by not recommending anyone in particular.
