The Watchlist rankings have had their weekly refresh and earned a new update today following last night’s events. You’ll find the current standings in the bottom of your right sidebar.

Double gameweek’s again have an influence, although many of the assets amongst the Everton and Birmingham squads all appear to come with caveats, suggesting that the allure of the double fixtures is nowhere near as strong this time around. Old favourites hold the top spots then, and there’s a real dilemma amongst the strikers on offer as injuries and rotation cut the options and may well force some risk-taking.

Ben Foster’s two forthcoming double fixtures earns him top ranking amongst the goalkeepers with Arsenal’s Wojciech Scezesny and Chelsea’s Petr Cech, his nearest rivals. Cech’s fixtures, capped by his own double in gameweek 33, enables him to take up his highest ranking for a good while.

Uncertainty in the Chelsea back four also boosts Cech’s appeal, although David Luiz has suddenly emerged as a real Fantasy prospect, compounded by his impressive showing against United last night. Yellow and even red cards may be a concern, but his energy and power looks certain to catch the eye of Bonus judges, while clean sheets could arrive given the opponents lined up for Carlo Ancelotti’s men. Champions League ineligibility only bolsters the case for Luiz.

He’s a high climber in the defender rankings then, but hovers just outside the top five with Seamus Coleman and Roger Johnson’s doubles keeping them in the top echelons. Johnson is marked as an unconfirmed injury doubt right now and could be swapped out for Liam Ridgewell if his knee injury looks set to sideline him for the weekend clash with West Brom at St Andrews. Fulham’s Brede Hangeland and Tottenham’s Michael Dawson look handy differentials in the mid-price if you’re in the market for such a thing – again, fixtures play a major part in their attraction for the coming weeks and have them ahead of the likes of Robert Huth and Aleksandar Kolarov.

Samir Nasri and Ashley Young are undoubtedly the hot properties in midfield right now and the fixture list should bring them continued returns over the coming weeks. Nasri’s potential will likely be increased as a result of injuries to both Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie – the Frenchman should assume penalty and free-kick duties as a result. More on him to come.

Fulham’s Clint Dempsey is another high climber and makes the top five with two strong home fixtures on the horizon. The American is the big goal threat from Mark Hughes’ side and, although unlikely to be handed a strikers role, he continues to return goal attempts with regularity. A goal or two in the next 3-4 gameweeks looks very likely.

Wolves’ Jamie O’Hara is of course the budget option of choice. Ineligible against Spurs this weekend, the loanee still hast the fixtures in the coming weeks and indeed, until the end of the season, to flourish further in Fantasy terms. We’re expecting big Bonus returns from him given his level of influence within a fairly unspectacular Wolves lineup.

The rankings amongst the forwards are really hard to call. Carlos Tevez holds top spot despite faltering form; his fixtures look to offer enough assistance to turn this around and, it must be said, there’s a lack of consistent rivals to threaten him. Wayne Rooney is showing form and has decent fixtures and gets closest his City rival, while Daniel Sturridge, Louis Saha (with his double fixture) and Moussa Dembele, all have strong appeal as differentials. The absence of Robin Van Persie and the insecurity amongst the Chelsea frontline really does limit our current options however. The current level of uncertainty and the opportunity for differentials in this area appears to offer hope for those currently chasing a mini-league lead.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

wht people think on berba. I got him and if i chop him (looks like less game time) i will lose 0.4 mill. RVP injured, barton doubt and vidic suspended means i looking and 2nd consectutive hit.

    I can do:
    Berba out, Rooney in
RVP out, 8.3 mill stirker in

Who to go for, Zigic has best fixtures for me so leaning to hip? Worth taking hit or holding berba for a few weeks more? Ta

I need a few opinions...my team has been dessimated by injury and suspensions....i'm in 1,300th position but not for long more i reckon...

    vidic/kelly hughes, walker, coleman
    VDV/adam/cahill nani, dempsey
    RVP/Berb tevez

thinking 12 point or 8 point hit (just to have 11 players)
    4 transfers would be...
    cahill-nasri
    rvp-rooney
    berb-saha/carroll
    adam-young

will VDV be back? will berb play? drop adam for young or keep adam and only play 10 players?

any advice appreciated. i can offer advice for any other questions. thanks

I'm in a similar position, riddled with injuries / suspensions.
Am keeping Berba as he scored a hattrick in the reverse fixture.

Thinking of doing the following for 12 point hit:
      Fabregas replaced by Nasri
      Cahill replaced by Duff
      Van Persie replaced by Saha
      Campbell replaced by Tevez

    Rafael* Kelly* Djourou Coleman Murphy*
    Cahill* Fabregas* Young Nani Barton*
    Rooney Tevez Odemwingie*

A lot of doubts as to whether they start or are injured this weekend.

Nasri price going up, shall I do Fabregas->Nasri now, so I can afford to go Odemwingie->Saha? Any other ideas?

Don't really want a hit on the defenders, and Rafael/Murphy (because of RJohnson inj doubt) should get some points.

        lol. Dont get me started

Long story short doing abit of a review of her and her "background".

She seems to have done nicely at not linking her background anywhere.

All i can find is she worked in Mathematics, then suddenly in recent years has become like you said a Gillian McKeith.

She has a diploma from somewhere in nutrition and its imposible to find. I have severe doubts its a proper one as there are loads of mickey mouse ones which mean nothing

And she now has made alot of claims I and many have issue with not withstanding the fact eh how will i put this - she has more books published than read , 0 research and ya seemingly no background in nutrition , exercise obesity but is making a nice bit of money from it it seems.

        Howd you know her btw?

Magic of google - I've never heard of her until I saw a slight opportunity to wind you up 🙂
Seems like one of those professions that should be wholly regulated and treated as a science but has fallen into that holistic kind of claptrap thing where you can make massive claims and people will believe it of it means they'll lose weight/look better without any effort. Snakeoil salesmen are nothing new I suppose.

Hit the nail on the head.

Would you believe it worse than that.
There are a few branches not to bore you
Dietiticians - regulated work in ur NHS etc
Nutritionists - regulated under new body formerly Nutrition society (About 7 of 150 courses are real ones)
Academics - Public health research producing papers on health, obesity , nutrition etc

But then you have the gurus calling themselves Nutritionists as you see the term is not protected like a doctor, nurse or dietitian.

Step forward Gillian Mckeith with here academic award a dead cat can achieve or it would appear zoe harcombe and every other media nutritionist.

Its about time the government sorted things out cos besides the 7 or so proper courses, dieticians and reserchers the rest (always in public for obvious reasons) are making alot of dangerous claims

Dont know if you saw Patrick Holdford on Late Late. Another guru with no qualfications so he made up his own unregualted nutrition school.

Its gone beyond a joke at this stage 😀

Ya love that its a great one.

Only one downside is the people in the 7 (not correct but ball park number) are getting tarnished with the same brush* as the self styled gurus with little to no knowledge of anything nutritionally.

While i wsa in Galway last year in the Winter came much surprise to find a woman from the Hollistic Nutrition (ya one of those courses) lecturing in GMIT on sport nutrition, nutrition for babies etc. And whats more (surprise surprise - you had to pay to attend)

Things only seem to be getting worse. Thankfully Dara is bringing it to light.

*Just to be clear im not one of these people 🙂

just not sold on Arteta or Everton this DGW, it is hard to call with Everton's form to be honest, I have been saying that if there was ever a time for Arteta to step up to the plate it is now. But I would prefer Zigic over Saha purely because he should get 4 points at the very least.

and no, not a 360, but I did change my view on his likely output, very persuasive arguments on here, he frees up cash for me to upgrade Giggs to Lampard too, so I have my own reasons.

absolutely, but RVP being out for a confirmed 4 weeks changed my mind, it's a freebie, and having looked at arguments on here for playing him I think he may get a goal. But I would still prefer Berb over Zigic this week if I had Berb.

lol everyone's better than Zigic. But to be telling people to bench Zigic and play Berbatov is mental. At least Zigic has some sort of form and will definitely start. Plus he has 2 games meaning a likely minimum of 4 points, can you say the same for Berbatov? I think not.

Does that mean i get the choice? I go for passive, i don't have the energy for aggressive.

As for your opinion it still doesn't make any sense to me. You've said you'd play Berbatov this week of you had him over Zigic, yet with your free transfer you swap RVP for Zigic. Why not just do RVP > Berba? Is it just so you have the cash for Lampard?

I am thinking the same but Giggs OUT Lampard IN, I am leaning towards yes having looked at Frank's stats over the last 6, more shots on target than Malouda, who despite being played as a proper winger now, was my other consideration, Frank soaks up alot of funds!

In a week where alot of people will be taking hits, 4 points will seem insignificant, and I am thinking about GW33 now.

I already did RVP OUT Zigic IN for my freebie, said with 4 weeks there is no point in holding and Zigic should get a goal at least, leaves me with a strong looking squad, http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/entryhist.mc?id=977, but Frank is tempting me, think Giggs will start against Pool, but I think Chelsea will smash Blackpool, and I want and need Chelsea cover.

    Evening all.
I'm not feeling any love, personally. for this Eve/ Bir DGW. I just feel it could be a bit of a red herring.
I'm in the same boat as most (5 red flags), yet I'm very tempted not to take a points hit. (I could still field 11 with one transfer). Last week, no points hit seemed a nice differential and I'm feeling the same might apply this week. I've had no points hits for 8 weeks running and I've risen from 208k to 22k. I know that's not a good enough reason to not take a hit this week...BUT.....
    Cahill to Lampard (c)

    ....it's all I've gotta do...right?

Thanks for your attention for the boring post.

Good move Daithi, I am thinking Giggs OUT Lampard IN myself for a 4 point hit.

Only thing about your theory is that looking at your team I don't see great scores, Simpson and Brunt in particular, might be worth a hit to finally shift Brunt who is in miserable form, but that being said, I am not sure funds will allow you to do much with him and that is the problem with Lampard, alot of funds tied up in one player, but I for one think he will be worth it in the next 6 weeks.

Hey JU. You're dead right about Brunt. I could get Nasri in, but it would mesn an 8 pointer (downgrade VDS to a 4.2 GK + Brunt to Nasri). But I'm gonna hold VDS coz he rotates perfectly with Foster.
        Thanks for the input.

I think he will, we will need to get goals because we can't be too comfortable with our back 4 without Vidic there, so I would say Fergie goes for a 4-4-2 formation, or 4-3-3 anyway, with Rooney wide if needs be. I do think that Berbatov will start though.
