Just the one fixture this evening as the Dugout Discussion opens and the gameweek winds down to a close before the long, dark and cold days of the dreaded FA Cup. Ian Holloway’s Blackpool and playing host to Carlo Ancelotti’s men this evening.

With his talismanic captain, as well as his lead striker, absent through suspension there is a whole host of changes from the “expected” Blackpool side – most notably a front three of loanees Jason Puncheon and James Beattie alongside Andy Reid. Chelsea, meanwhile, bring in Jose Bosingwa for Branislav Ivanovic as David Luiz shakes off a knock while Didier Drogba and Yuri Zhirkov come in for Florent Malouda and Nicolas.   It's close either way. A 1-1 draw could mean 33 points & that might be the safety score. Foster is pretty popular & if he makes a lot of saves you could be in trouble.

Haven't read many comments on here today.. just wondering what everyone makes of this business of RVP being included in Arsenal's squad?
Wenger's usually pretty honest about his injuries so the fact that there's no comment by him on his inclusion i think speaks volumes. Maybe they're just bringing him to Spain for moral support?!

  RVP playing against Barca would be a medical miracle. He supposedly has ligament damage, which very rarely takes less than 3 weeks to heal and can often take months. This just sounds too fishy, but it was on the Arsenal site. However, I don't believe that it said that RVP was fit, only that he was named to the squad. They could have named me to the squad if they wanted (not a good idea though). Perhaps Wenger wanted to cause confusion for Barca, who might now have to suddenly plan for RVP.
  
  The only other explanation is that the original diagnosis was incorrect.

FPL Open Update

694 entered so far, top seed 21st, 64th seed 1598, last automatic qualifier 59048.

Two ways to qualify.

1) Have a rank below 60000 at least & hope you finish in the top 448 after GW29.

2) Get a nice green arrow this week & qualify by being one of 60+ teams to qualify due to their GW29 score. Only 1 team ranked over 1 million can qualify at best.

Less than 15 hours to enter.

      Slim chance we could be drawn against each other. Thinkin about it, it mightnt be too advantageous to be drawn against the teams outside the 448 since they're on the up or could be newly formed teams.. whereas the seeds they'll play will be consistently steady scoring teams.

        It's pretty easy how it works. The magic number is 513 in the 1st round. If you are ranked 200th, you play the team ranked 313th. Number 1 plays the bottom ranked qualifier or 512th. 256th plays 257th etc etc.

        Only 1 team outside the top million overall can qualify. The team leading that section has been playing awhile & used both wildcards. Seeds play qualifiers outside the top 448.

  37 is the safety score for you atm, you are only 7 behind. Will be making tougher rules for GW33 onwards so you still have a decent chance. A CS for either side may see you through.

      Alot of people are hoping for 0-0 to survive. Waiting for the full list of teams in the next hour. Hopefully SC adds the new players quickly. I am in the top league. I have a soccer name so it's a give away. Check out the soccer section as I have posted there about the FPL Open etc. The next 3 days will be dedicated to SC rather than FPL. Got money riding on it etc & after winning the money last season, I want to have a top 25 ready unlike last season where I made silly trades early on rather than saving them.

      It's 500K for 12 pt hit. 37 is the safety score. It's the score before hits. New rules in GW33 would probably have the safety score at 45 : 30 + (3x5) so think yourself very lucky to still have a chance.

    If you look at the home games' history, he didn't start against ManC but before that did start against Villa, Birmingham, Stoke and Sunderland. Based on that I would say he will start against Bolton.

Only dropped 100 places, nobody has Lamps (cue series of spoilt brat-like "I have" posts). Good news!

Despite his hefty price tag, he looks like the only offensive Chelsea player worth considering. Tevez to Wellbeck and Bentley to Lamps should do the trick.

      Barca are handicapped by a goal or 2 depending on what bet. The draw part is abit tricky. What site are you on? Betfair doesn't have that option.

Well, this just proves to show how the right captain choice can make a huge difference to your score and world ranking.

On saturday night I was in the depths of despair on something like 12 pts before 8 pt hit even taken into consideration. My only hope was that I'd ignored virtually everyone else and didn't go for Tevez or a DGW player for my captain.

You've still got captain Lampard to play tonight, I kept hopefully telling myself all day yesterday.

And thus, in one night, score went from 9 to 45 (after hits). Jumped up from 44k to 18.9k in the rankings.

  I don't think so but there are a few fixtures that are at risk to being moved.. I think if United and Arsenal draw in the F.A cup then they both have a blank week in GW30.. So this would obviously create a blank in the future..

      You are 60th at the moment due to 3 top 1K palyers joining after the update. Not much difference between 60th & 70th to tell you the truth although at 60th you get someone just outside 55K rather than someone just inside at 70th.
