The concern surrounding Nani’s leg injury are building. Today’s story in the Daily Mirror will have resonated throughout the Fantasy realm with over 46% of Fantasy Premier League Managers fidgeting at the prospect of the Portuguese trickster facing up to a month on the sidelines.

The Mirror’s scaremongering doesn’t carry too much substance to back it up, but states that the club doctors at Old Trafford have been unable to stitch the wound because it has swelled so much. The healing process is yet to begin then and United have been unable to offer a definite prognosis. Rumours that Nani’s own tears rubbed further salt into the wound are yet to be confirmed.

Fantasy Managers will be looking keenly at United’s schedule and hoping for a draw in this weekend’s FA Cup tie with Arsenal. If that game does go to a replay, then both will have their gameweek 30 fixtures postponed. That will mean that United will next play in the league on April 2 at Upton Park in gameweek 31. If Nani fails to return for that, then we can expect him to aim for the April 9 gameweek 32 encounter with Fulham at Old Trafford.

United have today stated that an official comment on Nani’s injury will come on Friday morning at Alex Ferguson’s usual 9.30 press conference. Regardless of that, Nani sales are continuing in earnest. Over 42,000 have now got rid in the gameweek with a price drop from 10.1 expected within the week.

Elsewhere in the United camp, Antonio Valencia is tipped to see some action against the Gunners on Saturday having been omitted from Tuesday’s reserve outing, although Untied have played this down in today’s official team news release.

Valencia’s return to the fray as a 7.8 prospect in the FPL will need careful monitoring. Valencia is a favourite of Alex Ferguson and his supply was sighted as key in Wayne Rooney’s 26-goal campaign last season. Valencia notched 5 goals and 9 assists last term but has been restricted to just 2 league appearances this season following an ankle injury.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Entry is still open (anyone can enter with their GW29 score). Once that is closed we will announce the cut-off.

It was indeed. Week 29 and as many points. Dan... I know who I want to transfer in (Adam, RVP, Lamps). I've got enough with 0.1 in the bank. Do you think I should make the transfers now before price rise makes it unaffordable?

You can't have a rough idea with entry still open - what if 500 more people apply with scores of 70?

Okay, that is unlikely, but point being there's no way of knowing until the doors are closed on entry.

It's a bit shit how (going on the number of entrants from last time) the majority of people who enter won't even make the first knockout round. The whole fun of it is having head-to-head match-ups against fellow site users, not getting knocked out immediately because of some silly qualifying round.

Obviously there needs to be a qualifying round, to whittle the numbers down to 2^n, but (again going on the numbers from last time) losing 800 entrants - out of 1300 - is pretty sucky.

Sunderland have a great run-in from GW32 onwards, but I'm not so keen on their next two fixtures. If I was bringing in a Sunderland player now or over the next few weeks I'd be looking to keep them til the end of the season.

In reality id like Tevez RVP Rooney Suarez Wellbeck & Carroll

Thinking now I'd probably go for Rooney over Tevez.

Nani, Arteta, Szczezzers being injured. Zigic, Ridgewell being crap choices, Coleman being more subject to rotation.
If I was the moaning type I'd have a right moan. Hey maybe I am a moaning type! Bitterness, anguish, misery, squalor, failure and shite.

i was thinking Van Persie back in, cos hes amazing.
I was thinking nasri for barton (which is probably the best one if he doesnt get injured)
or i was thinking luiz in for either smalling or skrtel.

Don't forget guys and gals, it's not only Man Utd and Arsenal that are affected, West Brom and Bolton would also have a blank week if Man Utd and Arsenal needed to replay their game. Not sure how my team would cope without the mighty Chris Brunt.

Since I brought him in, he's got 1, 0 (benched), 3 (in a DGW). 2, 2. So yep, pretty much nothing!

Still, the fact remains, if you're counting how many players might miss GW30, you need to include any Bolton or WBA you have in your squad. At least it might give me an excuse to finally get rid of Brunt though!

What happens if the other FA cup quater finals end in a draw:
        Birm v Bolton
        Stoke v West ham
        Maan City v Reading
Will these replays also mess up game week 30? Or can they be played midweek?

Don't think so - but then again I don't know why Man Utd/Arsenal can#t replay on March 22/23 like the rest of them. Man Utd don't have a European game on these dates.

I may be wrong, but I don't think replays can be played 22/23 March since the following weekend is designated for euro qualifiers? I guess teams not involved in the champions league or europa league could replay on April 5/6.

I think they'd be replayed on April 5/6, but i'd like confirmation. Otherwise gameweek 30 could be a bit traumatic.
If Man City can't beat Reading at home, then their GW30 fixture with Chelsea would also need to be postponed to make way for the FA cup since they are in the europe league.

Already did Nani to Lamps, before last night's price increase 🙂

I'm going to do major surgery on my squad, leading up to GW33 DGW, so lots of hits.

    Here's my current squad:
    Hart, Reina
    Hangeland, Bardsley, Simpson, Coleman, Vidic
    Dempsey, Adam, Nolan, Meireles, Lampard
    Zigic, Tevez, Rooney

Here's the squad wih projected 7 changes:
    Foster, Mignolet
    Luiz, Bardsley, Simpson, Coleman, Djourou
    VDV, Adam, Nolan, Nasri, Lampard
    RVP, Tevez, Rooney

This team should give me plenty of cover for the DGW, and good enough to see out the rest of the season.

Looking to overhaul about 60 points on the leader, in my mini league, so it's time to gamble. Any good? Suggestions?

cant really argue with that. yeh im a novice at betting which is why i wont ever bet more than like 10 a week unless its something i really fancy.

i used to bet on goalscorers but never seemed to get much luk so started to do small trebles or accys which seems to sort me out.

so you do alot of research based on the clubs forums on there opinions on results? are thye not biased on the forums of there own clubs tho? x

if you're looking for the winner of a game then its best reading the whole forum gaging their level of optimism, reports on last match etc, if your betting under or overs for goals then jus the prediction thread can do like in the case of last night

What he says. It's a mugs game unless you're comfortable in life and can afford to just do it for fun, knowing that you'll almost certainly lose in the long-rin. I've got a few mates always going on about their accumalators, how much they've won / could win, then bigging it up if they do. I know full well they've spunked away £1000's over the years, and these guys are still renting.... they could have been putting all that cash towards a deposit. Be clever, and start investing for the future.

You can obviously make money betting but you've got to be better at calculating odds than the bookies. And be good at bankroll management (and keep accurate accounting). And be willing to take the long run of losses which are sure to come. I started off with about £100 a couple of years ago and now have a few thousand to play with if I so wish, but I don't bet much these days. That was mainly through playing bookies and casinos at their bonuses though. I'm not allowed to use any Ladbrokes bonuses any more for instance 🙁

Whatever you do, do NOT gamble with money you can't afford to lose.

That's surely rule 2. Rule 1 is definitely to only use money you can afford to lose and keep it separate from your normal day-to-day finances.

A good way to know if there is value in a bet is to use an odds comparison site to see if any bookies are out of line. Or compare the odds you can get against a betting exchange. accumulators and scorecasts aren't going to make you rich 🙂

Also, I live in a community in the US where there are many soccer fans from all over the World. For many straight up win bets I find it much easier to bet directly with a fan of a particular team, especially if the odds are in my favor, I never have to give any odds and usually get a push on the tie. Even in American football, its amazing how much the odds change from city to city as a direct result of hometown bias.

Things can change so quickly. Still 100 points clear in my mini league but that was cut by 20 points this week. Got rid of foster to get chesney, after foster had been good to me and now chesney is injured. I can't really get rid of nani as he's risen so much and ill want him back. Really not sure what transfers to be making. Seems Coleman is being dropped and kolarov isn't certain.

    Wish I had a wildcard!

Yeah I've got Kelly too, and had i known rvp wasn't going to be out for long I'd have kept him. Saha really wasn't worth it. I'm thinking about getting caroll and spreading the money around. May get Luiz and lampard in a few weeks

Relax 80pts it quite good. If your main goal is your mini league, then copy his big players. Your team will gain points too don't worry.

It's 100 points now, was 120 until this week. Last time I copied his players I got elmander way after I wanted him and he stopped scoring. Only good thing was it made me get berbs the week before he scored 29

andy85, I hesitate to give you advice - seeing as you are so much better than me - but aren't you taking this "no hits" principle a bit too far? Of course, you could argue that I have gone too far the other way ... but that would be a different thread. I've got Lampard, and bet against him getting injured, and sold Nani, once I had ascertained that it was a shin injury - so I've made my money on Nani, and bought before Lampard's price rise, in preparation for GW 33, by which time I will have 3 Chelsea, and either three Spurs or three Arsenal ...

I was talking to some guys on here earlier this morning before the game started, I was going on about how you should always captain a bowler like Malinga, and captaining batsmen was too risky. Hope I didn't talk anyone out of captaining Dilshan :/ Least I have him I suppose.
