The Swiss FA have given Arsene Wenger and Fantasy Managers new hope after announcing that Johan Djourou could return from injury within two weeks. After previously being ruled out for the season with a dislocated shoulder, suffered in the FA Cup loss to Manchester United, the defender who has been key to Arsenal may make a shock return.

The Swiss FA are hopeful that the defender may be fit for their Euro 2012 qualifier against Bulgaria on March 26. Their statement reads:

“The shoulder injury to Johan Djourou is less serious than feared on Saturday and announced by the coach of his club. The Arsenal defender and member of the Switzerland national team was submitted to thorough medical examinations on Monday. At the end of a long exhausting day, Johan Djourou had new hope that…. his season is not over yet.”

It is reported that Djourou has not suffered any fractures or bone injuries and the ligaments strained during the dislocation of the shoulder do not seem to be seriously damaged. The central defender will await the detailed assessments of a medical examination he underwent on Monday. If Djourou does return, he could be back for the Gameweek 31 fixture on 2 April against Blackburn.

Arsenal have kept 7 clean sheets in their last 9 Premier League fixtures that Djourou has played in. So far this season, in the games in which Djourou has featured, the Gunners have won 13 out of 16 and drawn the other 3. Valued at just 4.4 on the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Djourou has been a bargain buy for many Fantasy Managers. With stats like these, a possible return will be a huge boost for Arsenal Football Club and his FPL owners.

In the meantime, Laurent Koscielny will be partnered by the Sébastien Squillaci who has been less than impressive in his time at the Emirates. The Gunners are also linked with a short-term move for veteran former goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, who will be back-up to Manuel Almunia with Lukasz Fabiański and Wojciech Szczęsny ruled out with long-term injuries.

It is expected that Arsenal will make an official comment on the players condition in the next few days and the player may reveal more through his Twitter account.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

Guys, reckon I can get away with the following team this GW without any transfers?

    Al Habsi (Hart)

    Huth/Rafael/Coleman

    VDV/Downing(c)/Nani/Nasri

    Tevez/Zigic/Suarez

    Subs: Hangeland, Bentley, Djourou

I have 2.2 in the bank and I really wanted to save the transfer and use 2 freebies next week to do Nani > Lamps and Hart > Foster. Would also mean taking a hit to fund it and do Bentley > O'hara. Any thoughts? Thanks

I wonder how possible it would be to build up cash, and how quickly at the start of the season.

    Lets say your aim is...

    6m 4.5m
    7m 7m 6m 5m 5m
    12m 12m 9m 8m 5m
    11m 11m 10m

That would take 118.5m. Well it looks like the most valuable team in the world is only 121 at this point in the season, and they take hits etc to get there. He's 1.7m in the world.

I wonder if there is a specific point at which you get a really big advantage? Undeniably extra money at the beginning of the season is a bonus.

Yeah I've noticed that with a couple of the very top players (it think notably the guy in second?) that they haven't even had a mammoth week but have just been steadily ticking away in the top 100k every week.

To be consistently good, you need to spread your risks, which means you tend not to get mamoth scores. Gambling will get you big scores from week to week, and over enough players, it will get someone a big total at the end of the season, but for the individual its a risk.

It's an interesting question Soop but I don't see any reason why there would be a specific point where the advantage is "really big".

Perhaps you could data mine a shitload of teams and compare their team value and points in graphs to find some more information.

that would be an interesting project.

        I think it would
        a) still require a little luck
        b) possibly require an early wildcard.

You'd have to get the high-performing big players before they're out of reach, and get the fast rising cheapies. I think the key is the newly promoted teams who all start at a max of 4.5.

Wait for the United lineup and play Marseille if Vidic is out. That is what I will do.

You can get Marseille at 8.3, they'll easily win more than one in 8 attempts against United without Rio and Vidic. All it takes is a fluky away goal and their position is great.

    Here's a question:

Should I do Saha -> RvP [no hit]
or Zigic -> RvP and Silva -> Duff/O'Hara/(someone cheap) [4 pt hit]

Would rather hang on to Saha than Zigic, but is it worth a 4 pt hit?

I'd go for the no hit option.

i'd keep saha, still has a nice run of games
just do zigic -> somebody else, maybe wellbeck or carroll

But isn't RvP a must-have this week? And Silva has appalling fixtures coming up...

Just back off injury hasn't scored in either game.
I also have Silva and the last three time he's played (Europe, Prem and Fa Cup) he's been fan of the match and has been their most influential player. Against a Chelsea team who is at their lightest in midfield I'm gonna give him a chance. (I think)

Tricky one. I have Saha, and he does have 3 home in 4, including his old club Fulham this weekend. However, with Everton's injuries to key players you wonder who will create the goalscoring opportunities. I think his ship has sailed and we all missed it (apart from MFaulkner)

Although I think Zigic is gash, I would do Saha to RVP and save the 4 points.

    Should I do
    A) Tevez + Bendtner > Roonpig + Wellbeck (4pt hit)
    B) Tevez > RVP
    C) Silva + Bendy > RVP + O'Hara (4pt hit)
