As the masses eagerly await the qualifying results for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV, there’s still the matter of its sister competition to deal with. The Members’ Paddy Power Cup is now at the Round of 16 stage going into Gameweek 30, and as we announce those ties we’ll take a look at how the last round panned out…

If you take a look at the full set of results you’ll see some very mediocre scores (an average less than 37), and it’s a double-whammy for most of those eliminated this week, as it leaves them with no cup competition left to compete in.

There was one drawn tie in the round, as Alchi-traz‘s superior overall rank, sees him progress at the expense of Vanilla Kush F.C. His opponent in the next round will be kapitidave, who sneaked past fellow Dave, Dave Boozle, 33 – 32 in another closely contested tie.

Ten points clear as top-scorer for the week was canetoad, who easily beat Ghost 56 – 32 in what was the widest margin of victory in the round. The Round of 16 draw has him pitted against the joint-second highest-scorer for the week (with the second-widest margin of victory), Touch of Class, who beat Walky Talky 46 – 26.

The draw has also thrown out some other great ties, as the two top-ranked Fantasy Managers in the competition have been drawn out together. Zophar, sitting 26th in the world, reached this stage after a nail-biting 36 – 35 victory over Zod. His opponent, oi keano, who is only two points and five places behind Zophar in the overall standings, had far less difficulty in dumping roversnick 46 – 28 out of the competition.

The main rival for the ‘glamour tie of the round’, has the third and fifth highest-ranked Fantasy Managers squaring off. That’s FFS Cup III Champion and 135th in the world, Gooner dave (luckily guaranteed a first round berth in the other cup competition), up against top 1000 contender FC Super-Hans.

All eight ties can be viewed right here.

Good luck to the 16 of you going for a Quarter-Final spot. I’ll bring news of the results, accompanied with the Quarter-Final draw, a few days before the GW31 deadline.

Once again, the prizes for the competition, provided by Paddy Power, are a free £150 bet for the winner, £75 for the runner-up and £50 for third place.

If you’re not with Paddy Power yet, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10. (All offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.)

Pretty happy with me Lee(c), Watson and Haddin trio in this match, though wish I had done the obvious thing and captained Watson. Still, should get a nice boost up the rankings. Also got MJ, but he didn't do much.

'Ere Granville, completely off topic but the sound effects you use in your games (cannon fire etc), how are they produced if its not too weird a question, I take it you have an in-house department so is it possible for an outside company to use those effects?. Is that type of material (sound effects) copyright protected?
I'm developing an audio-media product and I'm not sure about that little aspect of it. We can produce our own original music etc but don't know where to start with the sound effects.

Massive lead gents in my mini-league (200+ ahead) which is always nice becuase it went down to the last game of the season last time around with my rival. Although, my team needs some attention and with my extensive lead it's like I have a 3rd WC to use and I should be OK to take such a hit without too much trouble. What are you thoughts guys?

I would be doing Kolarov OUT Walker IN before we know the full extent of Djourou's injury, Kolarov is a waste of 5.7/5.8 if he continues to be rotated, doesn't get clean sheets and is still only "threatening" to score, rest are good moves.

well reports are so varied I am not sure, I just get a sense that Arsenal's legal team told the Swiss FA to back off with their statements of fitness, but it still seems up in the air to me, he is probably out, but I think Kolarov is expendable and frees up cash, and if Djourou is confirmed as out out by Arsenal, then sell next week.

All I am saying is that if I had him I would be holding this week as I have Kolarov too and want to ship this week.

      Play Kolarov this week.

You need rid of Arteta first and foremost cos the midfield and strikers are where you'll earn your points.

Vidic to Walker. Arteta to Lamps. Play Berbs this week I think he's going to start the league games. Or else do an 8 pointer for Rooney or Van Persie for Berbs.

That was funny. Fergie got it right though, Berbatov hasn't scored in his last 18 European games, 2.5 years ago.

no you haven't. You post in general like a retard, and your f*cking food posts would drive anyone to sleep. You also come across in general on here like a slow witted sub-moron, so go and f*ck off, so us all a favour and keep your general retardedness to yourself. Did you think that was gonna be an original post, what one you linked up there?

long term with Chelsea's double in mind would Berbs and Arteta for Lamps plus a good cheap attacker (wellbeck maybe) be an option?

Other than that out of that lot Tev to RVP looks most appealing.

      Harsh?

30K and a 5 game ban is nothing. It will have no effect what so ever on anything.

Touchlines bans have pretty much no effect on anything.

I have to say that it is a bit of a weird one- surely if they're trying to make proper punishments they should use coaching bans more often?

Besides, there's nothing stopping SAF from hooking up a bluetooth line to Phelan telling him exactly what to do/say etc

That implies fighting for a European spot, or against relegation. The three teams I mentioned aren't.

Each place in the league brings more money, stick to talking about Fantasy Football if you don't have a clue about real football.

Everton, Bolton and Fulham will not want to get dragged in to a relegation battle, its tight down there, stop being so clueless if you want a debate.

I know you get money for league placings (although you obviously weren't referring to that when you originally said 'teams fighting for various things'), but why does that mean you fight more now than in September? 3 points in September = 3 points in March.

There's never a good time for a 5 match touchline ban, but better to be playing Bol, Wham, Ful, Eve, City (in the Cup) than Ars, Che, Liv, City (in the League).

I'd say B) will probably be more consistent.

I can see Bramble getting more clean sheets, with Luiz posing more of an attacking threat, and I'd back Carroll over Young.

Not really - I've had Ashley in my team before, and he always manages to let me down, and score big the week I kick him out 😉

And Carroll has pretty good service, possibly better than at Newcastle, so I can see him doing very well.

He is not always right! He just says enough shite so you think he is right. Honestly, I have taken some FPL advice from him (On account of him being 45th last year), and it failed, but then on the other hand he can be a genius, like any other person who knows a bit about FPL really, this game is to much to do with luck, but He is like 4th of that cricket league? Non? Your top! Just remembered. Well done so far.

i'm with Kush actually. Watson was reasonably fortunate today. And tait was bowling excellently and looking like clearing up the lower order before ponting inexplicably took him off.

And yes, i am still top... by a country mile!

        Onwards and Upwards.

ralph - didn't watch any of the game, but Tait only ever bowls in spells of 2/3. Good win for Tango Man and co. last night though!!

In the article Akers says that Gooner Dave was lucky to get automatic entry into the new Cup (for winning the last one). If that means he wouldn't have qualified otherwise, then 37 is not enough to qualify. Arse.

So, isn't it about time we did away with the away goals rule, we've had it since 1965. Wenger is right, it was brought about in an era when the away team always looked to defend, that isn't the case anymore.

I dunno, I'm sure teams would revert to defence again if it was removed. I thought the Bayern v Inter game was all the better for the away goals rule.

I was kind of thinking something similar last night; If Marseilles got a bonus for getting an away goal, surely Man U deserved something for keeping a clean sheet away. Just as difficult.
