With the qualification mark set at 43, it’s now time for the 509 qualifiers to join our former winners in the first round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV. The draw has been made and the full set of fixtures can be viewed right here. [Tip: Use Ctrl+F to find your tie.] Once you’ve learned of your opponent (or if you haven’t got one), read on for a summary of some notable round one ties…

The one to avoid this round was arguably oi keano, the highest-ranked (31st in the world) Fantasy Manager in the competition. The challenge of upsetting the odds goes to 780th in the world Shy Ted. A tough first assignment for our favourite.

Our former Champions join the fray at this stage, having earned the right to bypass qualifying. Which is just as well really, as none of them would’ve done enough in gameweek 29 to make passage.

FFS Cup I winner, but currently languishing 182,085th in the world (too much too young?), donnellyc has a very winnable match-up against EpicFAIL, as he looks to rediscover his Cup-form and resurrect his season.

This time last season, Jonty started his journey in round one of the FFS Cup II with a 74 – 58 win over Sonnky, on his way to the ultimate glory. This time round, sitting 26,392nd overall, he’ll be very confident of notching a win over jacklfc88, a Fantasy Manager ranked outside the top 400k.

Then we have our reigning, defending Champion Gooner dave, who sits at a lofty 135th in the world. Still involved in the Members’ Paddy Power Cup, will juggling the two competitions be his undoing? Lovely_Camel will hope so, as he has the daunting task of stopping the fantasy juggernaut.

There’s not many Scout Contributor’s representing in the first round, but we’ll be doing our best to keep the flag flying. It’s Akers Vs. Sizo, with my opponent easily outranking me with his superb position of 540th in the world. Next up it’s Granville Vs. Bluevikings, as the top 500 in the world Scout gets a favourable tie against an opponent ranked outside the top 100k. Like Granville, Big Dunc will be pleased will his draw against Oscar 12, boasting a far healthier overall rank over his opponent. Pure Olivia is up against it however, as he looks to out-muscle stevebland. Our final representative is Da beeeez, who will no doubt be cheered on around these parts with his match-up with Titus Shambles.

Lastly, a mention for the no. 512 entrant, Ronnay Barkay, who will be hoping to make easier work of Cup progression this week against cameron craigie.

Good luck to everyone in the first round, and I’ll bring you the results a couple of days after the gameweek has concluded.

    3 things:

    1) Boo to the lurkers! Maybe the cup should be fo regulars with over certain number of posts 🙂

    2) Come on Carroll, play your way into my WC team.

    3) if on a WC do u think Smalling is worth a punt for a few weeks at his price?

That's the thinking, was struggling for my 5th defender with Djourou out, was looking at Carr but have Foster, and aren't Carr and Smalling similar price? It's a no brainer I suppose!

Write Home - For some reason I cant get back to your post to reply directly to you but I would just recommend you to get the track listings for "I had the blues and shook them loose" album and just go through them 1 by 1. what I like might be different to your choice of good sounds but there are a few good tracks on that album. Skip the Intro track

Nah, English I'm afraid. I freeaaaking love the Scottish accent though. I'm roughly 74% more likely to like a band if their singer has a Scottish accent. And I'm in love with Karen Gillan (that one from Dr.Who)

        Thanks. Just found the details...

Dunne and Collins hit the booze hard while boss Gerard Houllier and No.2 Gary McAllister absent at Spurs versus AC Milan last Wednesday.

Irish international Dunne then let Villa coach Cowans know what he thought as he delivered a damning assessment of Houllier’s troubled reign.

Dunne and Collins have publicly apologised but the club are pushing for a massive four-to-six-week fine of Dunne’s £53,000-a-week wages.

That contradicts PFA rules, which state players can only be fined two weeks’ salary, so the players’ union are set to get involved in talks too.

Collins is in the dock for being close-pal Dunne’s drinking partner, but it's the Irish stopper is in the deepest trouble.

Right I'm resigned to taking a 4 pointer this week.
    Which one gets the vote?
1-vdv in for yaya and rvp in for tevez
2-rvp in for tevez and somebody in for djourou/vidic

    Cheers.

If you're going for option 2 there's one thing I still fail to fathom...

I do not think it is worth taking a four point hit to sell Tevez this week. The risks far outweigh the reward and the times I've been able to scan our comments this week I've been shocked by how much this is considered the "to do" transfer this week (I accept I'll inevitably be the one with an eggy face).

That doesn't stop Tevez scoring though, either, to be fair.

The way I see it is they're both (Tevez and Robin) penalty taking bonus bagging uber-talented strikers. Van Persie does have better fixtures but bones made of poohsticks while Tevez will be resting the next 2 weeks and is the second most popular player in the game and plays in the last game of the gameweek for the next three (i.e. selling him could end up cutting deep).

If and/or when I sell Tevez, and I very much may, it shan't be until after Sunderland.

If it's the only transfer your making then go for it, if not then its madness imo. Tevez has been impressive against Chelsea in recent years.

True, and honestly if it wasn't for rvp I wouldn't consider it. You could look at tevez being my "free" if you want and the 2nd being the 4 pointer!

Hah, that's kind of convoluted arguments I always use to back up my transfers - it never works!

If I had I wildcard I'd definitely consider offloading, it makes sense, but there's so much danger (and loads of injured people right now) that I personally don't think it's something worth doing... yet.

Why on earth did you transfer out someone who will play 90 mins when over half your team are injury doubts?
If I were you I'd forget about your defence and sort your midfield out. Probably start with MGP > Bale or VDV.
