Robin Van Persie has handed Fantasy Managers another potential injury scare after being substituted with a suspected knock for Holland in their Euro 2012 qualifier with Hungary.

The Arsenal striker was replaced by Ruud van Nistelrooy at half-time after appearing to suffer a problem late on in the first-half having given Holland the lead in their 5-3 win.

Details of the situation remain sketchy – some reports suggest that Van Persie may have suffered another blow to his knee, others state that the knock is an ankle problem. It’s entirely possible that Van Persie was simply withdrawn as a precaution. We can only await further news from the Dutch or Arsenal camps.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

RVP news is an expected downer but finally broke my betting hoodoo after a bad run. Had a tenner on holland (-1), spain (-1), ghana (+1) and urguay (+1), brings back a tidy ton with the one and only gyan doing the business 🙂

I'm a man of my stats and betfair makes it about 68% that we'll stay up.
Personally, I think a lot hinges on whether we get prevent any key injuries to the creative midfielders. We need Brunt and Thomas to have strong ends to the season and I think we'll be safe. But it might be close.. What do you think?

Yeah, Brunt has been totally off form since Christmas now and needs to pick up. Thomas is fine, I still think Dorrans has a huge part to play, and in the games I've seen him play under Hodgson the signs are good that he'll play him in his best position more advanced where he can express himself a lot more.

We really need to make the most of our home games, a win on Saturday would go a long way for me as I don't see us getting much against Chelsea at home.

Still going with Wolves, Wigan and Blackpool to be relegated!

                    Wolves? Nahh

Although the Kevin Doyle injury could be crucial. I fancy them for at least a draw against Newcastle and afterwards the fixtures are excellent.

Yeah sometimes it makes me think whether the game would be better with 2 free transfers a week. It would probably make a bigger gap between the players who pay and attention and those that don't.

Apple RBJ - long thread .

I never said the reason he improved was solely down to psychological intervention. His main issue was lack of confidence , he also had percieved himself to be far slowly than he was , had extreme self doubt, lacked aggression etc etc.

Simple interventions can help these things and of course he improved as a player. I never said he was a 100%. It was the beginning of his intervention. The professor im talking about never said it either (that it was 100%) merely he was very weak mentally and when they fixed this he took off. And no Bowe actually got worse as he got older till 23,

I think you really are underestimating mental side of things. A whole body of work goes into it. Neil Jenkins the welsh kicker many would say he was a natural and never bothered with the mental side of things.
He talked at lenght since he was a kid he based his technique for goal kicking on trigger words based on self talk to help him settle calm, concentrate and focus. His entire career kicking on this. He says it himself.

Here is stuff on Bowe where he says some of it himself.
But obviously wont go into much details for obvious reasons

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/rugby_union/article6917306.ece

Regarding the physiology paper analogy, a paper which never considers confounding factors would never be published in the first place. Its the basis to peer reviewed work. So that argument doesnt hold water on this issue and is frankly irrelevant. Im not talking about mere opinions im talking about years of evidence based research. Its just alot of the sport is way behind the research. In 50 years this will be different

RBJ - shrinks are quacks with regards to sport psychology. Its a very young field and shrinks are ppl who work in it. Im saying people who are top level are generally speaking mentally tough. Those who arent can be massively improved upon if are weak.

you know by shrinks i meant sports psychologists.

maybe tommy bowe benefitted db, but the move and the new club were more important. I think the coach at the Ospreys ( who i atually dont rate- holley) would have helped him too, and assholes like jerry collins, and wingers like shane wiliams , who was nearly thirty when tommy joined.

there's definitely merit in it DB, and it helps some more than others, and i believe the mental side plays a HUGE part in things. HOWEVER, that mental side comes from within...most of it anyway. As freud said (alot of his stuff is rubbish mind...) " the greeatest shrink is yourself " - or words to that effect.

Im sure the guy had an impact on tommy , maybe helped him alot, but pout it lie this- had he not been there, i still think tommy's move to the ospreys would have got him to where he is today, along with the good irish management team that the irfu borught in and continues to bring in the past 5 years (eddie aside)

turning off now mate, ill check back in the morning/afternoon just in case you and apple get back.

ps- i think the ospreys are shite by the way, well, not euro standard anyway... but still, he was somewhere with good players from around the world and wasnt surrounded by hardworking dross in ulster.

I think the move, the new environment , the intervention all played apart.

Hard to ascertain which was the main proportion. But mental side of things is more important than percieved .
Ive moved away from that side of things now myself but i reckon in the coming decades it will become as accepted and common as taking water to re hydrate.

Once more evidence comes its hard to dismiss (not that your dismissing but alot of the players and supporters as a whole do). On rugby Munster did a Massive amount of this in the last decade. Worked and were lectured by parts of there back room team and they went into great detail about it. Just not very well known in mainstream culture

I wish the admins would add some new FAQs to the FAQs list here:

      http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/fantasy-football-faq-and-glossary/

How do I track price rises and falls?

Who is injured and for how long?

When is the next podcast and how do I download/listen to it?

Where do I find the upcoming fixtures?

I reckon it would save a lot of people a lot of time.

How do I track price rises and falls?
this question is only asked by people who are playing the game for the 1st time and the people who are here can answer this without any problem...
Who is injured and for how long?
u can see this by clicking on injuries and bans section with links...
When is the next podcast and how do I download/listen to it?
i'm sure they don't set the exact date or time when will they do the podcast...they will do it only when they will have some free time...

Where do I find the upcoming fixtures?
A.people on here can help and if u are playing this game u should know the upcoming fixtures and andy usually helps people whenever he is here with the change in the fixtures...

Yeah, he was seen partying in Argentina this week end too. My guess is that he will not even come back to England this week; he did the same thing last year in March

Do you think it is necessary to have Fabs if someone already has Nasri and RVP(assuming he makes it)?

        Overkill, mate.

Of those 3 I'd say Fabs and RVP are the only 2 you need.

If van Persie is crocked then most of his points will go to Fabs. IMO, Walcott, when fit, is a better option if you want a 3rd Arsenal attacking player.

Nasri seems to work best when Fabs and Van Persie are both out. Least, that's how it looks to me anyways.

just listened to the 606 podcast after the england-ghana game.

alan green is a disgrace. his disparaging comments about capello's post-match interview were completely unnecessary and unnecessarily harsh on capello who was perfectly coherent in his english responses.

is green being told by the english media barons to take any opportunity to knock capello?

as the man himself would say, green is absolute tosh.

Agree. People say they don't understand capello, but personally I don't find his interviews hard to understand if I listen carefully. To be honest, I think a lot of people would find him easier to understand than someone British with a very strong regional accent who talks too fast.

      Fpl question (shock)

Does anyone think fpl would be more fun if the players were slightly more expensive (or the transfer budget a bit lower) it seems a bit too easy to have a team full of superstars, meaning loads of people have similar teams, and spotting a bargain is often pointless since you'd be left with money in the bank.

I'd prefer it if the initial budget was between 90 or maybe 95 mil (or if player prices were increased accordingly)

I think this would give an edge to serious players, which is surely a good thing since we'd mostly rather a game of skill than chance

So the casual player who never changes his team never has to worry about price rises. But the one who does manage his team weekly then suffers because he has to take players out when injured, loss of form etc and then can't buy replacements cos his budget is too small?

Yeah, sounds real fair to me.

Look, I don't really think there's much wrong with FPL as it is.

Fact is, some people will get lucky with their teams even though they don't spend a lot of time on it. Others will spend ages over their teams and still make poor choices and/or have rotten luck.

Some people on here need to accept that spending loads of time on their team doesn't entitle you to have a good overall score.

Do you think SAF will support Berbatov to win golden boots thus make him a starter?

      Any comments?

      Thanks.

P/s: I still have him for this GW & if does not start, to look for a new striker maybe Torres.

I think it's a shame that we can now, with reasonable accuracy, know when players prices are going to rise and fall. I too use those websites, but I remember a time when you didn't know when a transfer price would change, or at least hadn't heard of CTC etc, which could tempt you to transfer early and then find the player gets injured. Despite the possible negatives, the game was better then. We now have a little too much knowledge.

I also think they should cap the number of times a player can be transferred in during a particular gameweek, tempting people to have to sign them early or miss the boat. Those who get on the bandwagon early could profit more from taking the early risk. As it stands, you take a gamble and it might pay off, but then everyone buys that player the following week. My way could give you 4 or 5 weeks gain over league rivals, unless they transfer early.

Still a great game though and ramble over.

If your chasing then no i wouldnt i can see Valencia taking alot of Nanis points. But if your holding the lead I think it may be wise to have him as a 'blocker' I toyed with the idea of getting rid but all my rivals have him and im defending leads so no harm in keeping.

This changes everything- I'm going to cross my fingers that Tevez is fit and RvP is injured, but if Tevez doesn't make it I'll have to cross my fingers that RvP is ok, as I'll do the old switcheroony.

If it's the latter, then I've wasted some finger crossing. I bet we don't know either for sure before the deadline either.

you thinking Gyan as well tosey?
thought he looked excellent last night. despite his missed chances. He just seems a handful for defenders whenever the ball is played into him.
(If RvP is fit, then currently juggling with:
            A. Dawson/Luiz/Carr/Rooney/Welbeck
            or
            B. Terry/Luiz/R.Johnson/Gyan/Carroll
            leaning towards B i think
