Arsenal gaffer Arsene Wenger has revealed that Fantasy Premier League favourite Robin Van Persie looks likely to shake off a minor knee problem and face Blackburn at the Emirates on Saturday. Van Persie, who is owned by 16.2% of FPL Managers, suffered the well-publicised knock whilst representing Holland in their Euro 2012 qualifier against Hungary.

After an initial worry over the injury prone forward, Wenger played down concerns:

“Van Persie has a good chance too. He has a final assessment tomorrow but we believe he will be fit. It is a bruised knee.”

Elsewhere in the Arsenal squad, Wenger continued the positives with news that the side are set to welcome back a key quartet of Cesc Fabregas, Alex Song, Theo Walcott and Abou Diaby – although the Manager was coy over their involvement. Aaron Ramsey and Nicklas Bendtner are in a similar position to Van Persie and they will undergo late tests ahead of the visit of Steve Kean’s side.

“[Fabregas, Song, Walcott and Diaby] will all be available. I have not decided if they will start the game yet but they will all be available. We have a few players with tests tomorrow – Ramsey with his groin, Bendtner with his ankle, Van Persie with his knee. I will make a decision after training in the morning. We just have Denilson out. It is short–term. We have one or two players with question marks but all the other players will be available.”

The Gunners are looking close to full strength then – just as the approach their gameweek 33 double (LIV tot) which is likely to draw heavy Fantasy investment in their squad. Rotation is now the key factor that will decide where this cash will go, Wenger’s lineup against Rovers will be eagerly anticipated.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

was at a shopping center with friends when the local teams back up goalie stepped out of a car. We all yelled Fern and he turned and waved and promptly walked into a post. Knees buckled but no tears.

                Just seen it 😆

To be honest mate, just take a 16 point hit and get it over with. You'll get a red arrow this week but there's really no point continuing with that lot. I'd consider my team as better than that but still taking a substantial hit soon (It's only really my defense that needs sorting).

Yeah, I know, but a 16-point hit would involve taking out the likes of Dempsey and Carew, and they're going to rip this comp wide open on their DGWs.

Looking for opinions on the following

    A. Rooney out RVP in
    B. Tevez out RVP in
    C. Rooney and Fabregas out RVP and Lampard in (4pt hit)
    D. Rooney or Tevez out along with Huth to bring in RVP and David Luiz (4pt Hit)

The background to taking Fabregas out is that I also have Nasri I do want to get RVP in but I'm not happy to have 3 gooners in the squad.

Which do you think is the best option to take. I can afford the hit as I've a comfortable lead in the leagues that matter to me.

    Thoughts welcome.

The only downside to getting rid of Tevez is the funds that are tied up and by transferring him I will lose out. To get him back in at a later stage would cost in around 700k which is a lot to have spare at this stage.

normally i'd say keep tevez because he has a double in gw36 i think it is... but in this case, with tevez quite a major doubt, and a waste of bench - i'd do it.

You'll lose a bit of money but by the time you want to bring him back in, money will be the last thing on your mind - There'll only be a 3-4 weeks left..

Johnson at the moment. Spurs defence has a ton of injuries right now so I'm not sure they're a good bet for cleanies.

Brum prob not that much better, tbh. Johnson better goal threat.

buying anyone for 2 games is never a good strategy unless their games are against really bad defences and theres a very big likeliood of a good score.

I dont like any of them options PIeces...not his week anyway.

Fabregas 3 goals, 1490 minutes, 10 assists, 24 bonus points.

Nasri, 1826 minutes, 9 goals, 1 assist, 19 bonus points.

I'll have both this week but will get rid of Nasri next week for Lampard. Cesc has a point to prove, i think he'll have a massive few GW's.

Who would you suggest I take out next week for Lampard out of A Young and VDV?

Reading the Midfield Masterplan post it suggests keeping VDV over Young, although I'd almost decided on the other way round.

Spurs have the better form but I'm not as keen on their fixtures and VDV could be rested.
Villa's form hasnt been good this season, but they have better fixtures and Young is nailed on to play.

    I'm now in 2 minds.

That is actually a brilliant suggestion MMW!

I've already done Barton to Adam this week and was planning Tevez to Welbeck next week. But I can still afford to take Adam out next week for Lamps. I was so blinded by getting Adam in I hadnt thought about taking him back out.

It'll mean I cant replace Kelly with Luiz though. But thanks it's given me a different angle 😀

VDV needs to get back into form and regain his match fitness - I'm tentatively looking at doing VDV > Lamps in gw33 and keeping Downing.

I agree about Spurs' fixtures after gw32...Don't know whether I can wait another 2 gws for Fat Frank though. I can see Chelsea getting 2 at Stoke and v Wigan....and his penalties and goals 'out of nothing' don't half irritate me when you don't own him...

I agree about not wanting to wait for Lampard but I've already taken a 4 point hit this week and will need another 4 pointer next week to take Tevez and a midfielder out for Welbeck and Lamps. Cant afford him any other way, so next week is the earliest I can get him in.

Yeah I think van Persie is more likely to start than Chamakh but am worried that he'll come off early. It's not as if Arsenal are keeping him for the Champions League. Also bruised knees are not as worrying as twinged muscles, so I think van Persie will play. We'll see what the situation is Saturday morning, I guess.

maybe, I just don't see why the cautious Wenger would risk him...maybe hold him in reserve and bring him on if they need a goal at 45' or 60'.

Nobody knows, it's a guess, but to me the circumstances warrant some worry.
