The FA have confirmed that Wayne Rooney will serve a two-match ban.

Rooney had previously admitted the charge for the use of offensive, insulting and / or abusive language at Upton Park last weekend, but the striker argued that the two game penalty was unfair.

The charge has immediate effect and Rooney will now miss Manchester United’s next two matches: Saturday’s Premier League clash against Fulham and their FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City. The forward is hot property at the moment in the Fantasy Premier League which he demonstrated by scoring a hat-trick in the aforementioned game with West Ham. He continued his sublime form last night by netting the only goal during the 1-0 Champions League victory over Chelsea.

United have released this statement:

“Manchester United is clearly very disappointed with the Regulatory Commission’s decision. The Club put forward a very strong case to have the punishment reduced, which was unsuccessful. Wayne Rooney apologised immediately after the match and the Club now wishes to move to on to what hopefully will be a very exciting conclusion to the season.”

Fantasy Managers will now have to consider the impact on United’s lineup against Fulham – presumably this will see a start for Dimitar Berbatov who was benched for last night’s Champions League victory, while Javier Hernandez would also seem set to retain his starting role if Alex Ferguson goes with a 4-4-2. Short-term interest in both could therefore increase as a result.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

I just dont understand this Torres love, Has done absolutely bo diddley for weeks is expensive almost never assists, not on penalties or free kicks and v prone to rotation. Surely he is becoming the end of season Boselli?

    I bloody hate this game!
I was going to take Roonpig out andput Drogs/Torres in mainly for the double. Then in Gw 35 take drogs/torres out and put tevez in. I'm now looking at my team and think Nani and Vdv could be hindrances to my team what would you suggest?

if you have 3 defenders that arent getting on the pitch, i think you need to start there. instead of a chelsea forward for the double, where you have rotation risk and possibly no haul, id concentrate on a double transfer that involves getting luiz in for one of your currently worthless (for lack of a nicer term) defenders.

unassured is way better than definitely not (kelly), matter of time not, if not already (smalling), and just plain rubbish (tamas). how bout walker in for one of these. at least funds wont be a problem. fixtures overall solid for the run in, some attacking potential.

I am tempted to do Nasri OUT Walcott IN and Tevez OUT RVP IN this week with my two freebies, I think that despite form and his stroppyness that VDV has excellent fixtures and it's hard to ignore him, that being said, there is a now always a risk of rotation hanging over him, but this threat may be gone following the home leg against Real next week

    A, B , C or D?

    A.
    GW 32: Rooney & Dempsey > Lampard & Zigic (4 point hit)
    GW 33: Kolorov > Luiz

    B.
    GW 32: Rooney & Dempsey > Lampard & Bendtner (4 point hit)
    GW 33: Kolorov > Koscielny

    C.
    GW 32: Rooney & Nani > Lampard & Anelka (4 point hit)
    GW 33: Kolorov > Koscielny/Clichy

    D.
    GW 32: Rooney & Nani > Malouda & Torres (4 point hit)
    GW 33: Kolorov > Luiz

Cant afford any option that gets Lamps, Luiz and a Chelsea striker in. 🙁 so which one would you go for?

i have no faith in zigic. i just dont see a safe reliable attacking DGW option other than RVP who i assume you already have. I know you want to load up on DGWers but theres other DGWs to come and bringing in a guy like zigic can block another valuable DGW transfer in GW34 (im thinking zamora myself). will a chelsea forward be worth the transfer, sure absolutely, but i have no confidence picking who it would be.

they were talking about this on RTE TV coverage of the CL game last night.
They dont seem to have any purpose, and are probably afraid to whisper in the refs ear, that 'eh, yes, that might be a penalty boss' for fear of abuse from fans.

I'm sure some of this was discussed last night but thoughts on Chelsea differentials. Currently think I'll go Lamps and Luiz and then either Terry or Cole.
    Bosingwa - Too rotation prone.
Zhirkov - possible massive differential OOP, was on set plays last night but again may be rotated.
Essien - Probably not going to produce attacking goods.
Ramires - Possible for attacking goods but not worth the punt.
Kalou - With CL could be worth the punt?

kalou for me is a good shout for Saturday, and maybe two sub appearance in the double.
He's the kind of player who comes on a 3-0 up and nicks a goal for himself. i can see him getting a goal and an assist over the next 3 games at least.

Posted this yesterday but got no response. 🙁

I NEED ADVICE FROM PREVIOUS MINI-LEAGUE CHAMPIONS.

64 points ahead in my mini-league.
Have RVP and Foster for upcoming double.
Rival has Carr and Wilshere for the double.
We both have Rooney, Young, Nani, Bent and Huth.

    What would you do?

    A. Take the initiative, do Rooney & Dempsey > Lampard & Zigic this week. (Kolorov to Luiz next week.)

    or

    B. Wait and see what rival does by Saturday morning. I know he cant afford lampard without doing at least 2 transfers.

    C. Suggestions??

With the lead I have, should I sit and wait, or act now?? (The only player I fear my rival could gain serious ground with is Lamps)

Well so much for the so-called apology anyway:
            1/ I didn't hear any apology
2/ Employing a public relations person to issue statements after you've behaved in ignorantly hardly impresses
3/ Getting your team mate to tweet that you've apologised so you should get let off is equally disengenuous
4/ And now we get his "I was shafted" statement which is hardly consistent with his so-called contrition

            What an ignorant prat!!!

            Good goal though

reading how people have held on to the likes of zigic and bentley just to get a DGWer out of them is heartbreaking. Im considering getting rid of VDV, and I love VDV, but am not partly because spurs have a double remaining on the schedule. I cant imagine staring at zigic week after week waiting for that giant payoff that in the back of your mind you know isnt coming.

    Cue zigic brace.

I do wonder if the current Chelsea-rush might end up yielding similar millstones. If Lampard doesn't score big in the next two GWs, and he might not, that is a LOT of cash tied up when the likes of Adam and O'Hara could be banging them in.

Why is it so hard to ignore him though when he has a double and everyone on here is talking about him.

young was gonna be kept to the end of the season in my original plan. If i keep young, it has to be nani or VDV out but with teams below me owning one or the other, its safer for me to take young out.

Guys I could really do with some assistance in getting fat lamps into my team, thinking rooney or tevez out, then either vdv / nasri / barton?

    Foster, Begovic,
Kelly, R Johnson, Luiz, Kolarov, Coleman
    Nasri, Nani, Adam, VDV, Barton,
    Rooney, Tevez, RVP

    1.1m in the bank

    So...

A, Rooney, VDV, Kolarov > Bent, Lamps, Dawson
B, Rooney, Nani > Bent, Lamps
C, Rooney, Barton > Welbeck, Lamps

    Any other ideas?

It's possible you could have a cheapie in the front 8 who you want to play this week but will bench from now on (with Rooney taking that spot). So getting Rooney now would save a transfer in future. But unlikely that thousands of people have planned to do that.
