It has been revealed that Manchester City will be without influential captain Carlos Tevez for the next three to four weeks.

Having injured his hamstring in Monday evening’s defeat at the hands of Liverpool, the Argentine forward and looks set to miss the side’s next couple of fixtures – including this weekend’s FA Cup Semi Final showdown with Manchester United and, more crucially for Fantasy Managers, potentially a handful of Premier League fixtures from gameweek 34 onwards that reads (bla, WHM, eve &TOT, STK, bol).

Manager Roberto Mancini confirmed the injury:

“Tevez is not available for Saturday. I think he will recover in three or four weeks. It is a big problem but we can’t take any risks.”

Coming at time where both Chelsea and Arsenal have a double gameweek, this will surely see the City striker’s Fantasy Owners look for alternatives and propel the likes of Didier Drogba, Robin Van Persie and maybe even Fernando Torres onto many a radar ahead of this weekend. Despite being the top-owned forward in the game, Tevez has been sold by over 200,000 Fantasy Managers in the last three gameweeks, with his price dropping 0.3 in the process. With so much doubt over his availability, expect that price to continue to plummet.

City fans will now be pinning their hopes on Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli in the crucial Manchester derby this Saturday and beyond, as the Eastlands battle Spurs for that all-important fourth spot in the Premier League. Coming in at 8.6 and 7.9 in Fantasy Premier League respectively, this could now be the pair’s chance to shine in what has proved to be a difficult first season in England for both. With City facing a double gameweek 36 on the back of a home game with West Ham, expect investment in the pair to increase over the next couple of weeks.

More to follow…

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

Anyone else think Arsenal might have a bit of a tough task against Liverpool, with them being on the up right now? I can see Liverpool winning.

I can't really see pool winning with their poor away form, but I do see a lowscoring game. Same goes with the Spurs game, I think Harry will keep it tight at the back and there won't be many goals in that one either.

I have three Arsenal players for the DGW but none are defenders. I don't think they'll keep a clean sheet in both games. That's why I also brought in Suarez, as I think Arsenal will concede a few.

Drogs is a risk as he might not start both games. Captaining him is an even bigger risk but one that could get a massive score, which is what I'm hoping for.I think Drogba has been lokking sharper and hungrier of late and he could explode and get a massive haul in the DGW. Here's hoping for a Drog hattrick and brace in the two games 😀

    TORRES 😉

Reasons why people believe he will not start both of Chelsea's games this GW.

Surely, if you pay £50million for a player and he's yet to score for Chelsea, given the nature of the opposition this week (and no Champions League distractions anymore), Torres will start both games??

    Hmm...HELP REQUIRED
I have a 20 point lead over my opponent going into this week

    Foster (begovic)
Luiz Coleman R Johnson (Kolarov K Walker)
    Nani Adam Lampard VDV (Barton)
    Suarez RVP Rooney

I have been tempted with either shoving in zamora/carroll for suarez and Terry for Kolarov.

I believe my opponent may put in Fabregas this week. He also has VDV and ash young currently as differentials...

But my tea leaves tell me that vdv will have his usual 60 mins of running around doing nothing, and be substituted by twitch, resulting in a fit of rage from the dutchman.

Whereas walcott has 2 chances of starting 90 minutes and is more likely to score.

I wouldn't take out Suarez - he deserved a goal on Monday. And it won't be long before he's getting through on Carroll's knock-downs.
I think its a little early to be "blocking" out your rival with a similar team. 20pts can be turned within a week so I think you should concentrate on building a bigger lead instead of consolidating the one you've got.

Hey dan, I would get in RVP and Luiz this week, For tevez and coleman.

Drogba isn't guaranteed a start in both games. Also djourou may only be fit enough for the bench, and luiz is a cheaper version of terry, and seems to be the bonus darling at the minute.

Hey jamsiep, I was arguing/ discussing with a buddy last night , the poor chelsea, i was of the belief that a lot of it has to do with lampard who used to be in control of everything going down a notch and overall not the same player he once was, he called me crazy, what do you think?

also for the sake of my argument, I see Lamps has 6 goals this season , do you know how many are from penos?

A combination of Lampard and Essien both having awful seasons. Neither of them command a game like they used to, and have both lost pace (not that Lampard had much in the first place!).

My question is whether Lampard is being shown up this season, now he's not surrounded by truly world class players, or whether he's just regressing because of his age. His continually poor performances for England hint that it could be the former, although age is definitely playing a part.

He's scored 4 pens in the league this season.

Judging from that it sounds like , whichever it is, you see it as a permanent regression and not just a one season thing?

hard to know, i dont think so tho, hes new blood why not let him have at it now and he has been doing well

hes only rotatable if alex needs games,
i wonder does he need them, or was he rushed back...hmmm

He should be okay. He's playing great, they probably won't want to rush Alex back and he's also versatile so could be played at RB/midfield.

But Carlo might tell us on Friday anyway.

Team for this week (after I make my free transfer)

    Foster (Begovic)
    Luiz Carr Djourou (Coleman, Walker)
    Lamps Nani Nasri VDV Adam
    RvP (c) Rooney (Welbeck)

My midfield is looking a bit 2010 with Nasri and VDV in there, one of them will be going for Dempsey for GW34.

    Any glaring errors?

Some of the teams I have doubled on defenders with:
    Wolves - fail
    Birmingham - marginal success
    Bolton - fail
    Liverpool - partial success
    Everton - MASSIVE FAIL

Now I'm bringing the curse to Chelsea - be afraid Luiz, Terry, Cole, Ivanovic owners, your clean sheet days are numbered

Wow. That's a "League of Extraordinarily Long Punts Defensively" 😀

Going for Ars, Chels, MU, MC too much low-hanging fruit for you?

I was actually considering the rightfully unheard-of triple defense from Chels, but I'll now do a rethink.

He probably will start both, but he's utter sh*te. I had Zigic and was looking at Jerome and Phillips, I passed on both and got in Suarez 😀

This is my first season of FPL, and I have learned to not buy Brum strikers. AM relies on his defenders for his goals 😀

really tempted with dzeko next week after this tevez news

he just has to start scoring in the prem soon doesnt he?

i dont think balotelli will start up as teh focal point of a 4-5-1 will he?

Wait for the FA cup. We'll see. Put him on watch list for now. And the logic with forwards he must score sooner than later more often is not right. Strikers needs confidence and more probably will score in a series.

If you want to catch up, try to get in Drogba somehow. I think he could score big against West Brom and Brum.
