The amount of time remaining for Fantasy Managers to either claw back or hold on to a league lead diminishes by the second now, with every last decision all the more vital in the race for bragging rights. That most crucial of choices -the armband selection- looks set to be a hum-dinger this week with no outright favourite standing out from the crowd…

Currently leading our poll is Liverpool’s Dirk Kuyt; with seven goals in six gameweeks he’s found himself in the limelight of late. The Dutchman’s likely forward role in the absence of Andy Carroll, combined with his spot-kicks duties, sees him narrowly head the pack at present. Team mate Luis Suarez is not far off the pace in fourth, as a home game with Newcastle offers the January signing another chance to shine.

Narrowly behind Kuyt in second place is a fairly unassuming name who has been in a good, if not staggering, run of form in recent games. With three goals and 8 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points in his last five appearances David Silva has picked up the burden of responsibility as the Citizens main creator in the absence of Carlos Tevez. Only owned by 3.6% of managers (by far the lowest of any one in the top five) the Spaniard looks to be a strong candidate, no doubt picking up steam ahead of the coming double gameweek.

Currently in third place is Frank Lampard, with his performances having picked up in the return to the 4-3-3 formation, penalty-taking back-up and the visit of Tottenham this coming Saturday evening. The most in form (9.5 points per game over the last month) player available in FPL, Peter Odemwingie, is bringing up the rear in fifth place, with the Baggies frontman looking to continue the form that has brought four goals, four assists and six FPL Bonus Points in the last five weeks. A local derby at home to Aston Villa offers plenty potential.

Further afield we see names like Yaya Toure and Mario Balotelli get a bump from the home fixture with West Ham, Charlie Adam relied upon to push Blackpool to safety at home to Stoke and the likes of Didier Drogba and Robin Van Persie bringing their form to top of the table clashes.

Sorting your gameweek by difficulty on Members’ Season Tickers will show we’ve barely even mentioned any of our top six ranked sides this week so there looks to be an abundance of choice this week – a gift and a curse. Plenty of chances to make some headway, but there’s certainly room for a pitfall or two without one or two standout options to give our backing.

Whoever it is you decide to grace with your most valuable Fantasy weapon, be sure to head back to the frontpage and place your vote, then head back here and maybe give a little presentation about your front-runner.

I would normally agree and I'm sure his run will come to an end but his form has been terrific (against good and bad teams) and he's home against a pretty poor Newcastle.

Guys would appreciate some advice on my team:

    Foster (Begovic)
    Luiz Hughes Vidic (Walker) (Kelly)
    Fabregas Lampard Adam Etherington (Nani)
    Carroll RVP Odemwingie

I was originally thinking about doing Etherington to Yaya but now thinking about the following for a 4 point hit, I'm just ensuring I can beat my rival so I don't mind losing 4 points like him:

    1) Etherington and Vidic to Silva and Kolorov?

    or

    2) Fabregas and Etherington to Kuyt and Silva?

Also do you think it is wise to bench Nani??

The equation is i want yaya in but dont want to take a midfieldes out. I will remove one of my useless forwards for odem/suarez. I also dont want anything to with dzeko but need a city player. So what so i finally do. Do i still go with dzeko cause it is the easy thing to do and then keep praying for him to play ?

    Morning all,

    Foster (Begovic)
    Huth, Luiz, Carr, (Djourou, Smalling)
    Lamps, Adam, Young, Nani (Barton)
    RVP, Bent Zamora

    Changes for this week?
    Nani > Silva seems obvious

But I dont like the look of my midfield for the run-in, its lost all balance and form, need to get VDV and silva in there.

Any other suggestions? Is Lamps worth getting rid now with two tough games coming up?

I don't know why Adam has such a low captaincy rate this week, he's at home to a Stoke team who will be tired and Blackpool are desperate for points, I for one will probably captain him.

You'd expect so, but my worry is Carroll making the game on Sunday and being extremely fired up for it.

Odem however gives you the position of keeping him for 4 good games, whereas Carroll would be a candidate to be transferred out next week anyway.

I'd say it's worth the hit.

I'm going to a wedding today so I won't get to see much info on teams. What are people with Carroll doing with him? Sticking or shifting?

Sticking. With your team I'd do the same.
