The amount of time remaining for Fantasy Managers to either claw back or hold on to a league lead diminishes by the second now, with every last decision all the more vital in the race for bragging rights. That most crucial of choices -the armband selection- looks set to be a hum-dinger this week with no outright favourite standing out from the crowd…

Currently leading our poll is Liverpool’s Dirk Kuyt; with seven goals in six gameweeks he’s found himself in the limelight of late. The Dutchman’s likely forward role in the absence of Andy Carroll, combined with his spot-kicks duties, sees him narrowly head the pack at present. Team mate Luis Suarez is not far off the pace in fourth, as a home game with Newcastle offers the January signing another chance to shine.

Narrowly behind Kuyt in second place is a fairly unassuming name who has been in a good, if not staggering, run of form in recent games. With three goals and 8 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points in his last five appearances David Silva has picked up the burden of responsibility as the Citizens main creator in the absence of Carlos Tevez. Only owned by 3.6% of managers (by far the lowest of any one in the top five) the Spaniard looks to be a strong candidate, no doubt picking up steam ahead of the coming double gameweek.

Currently in third place is Frank Lampard, with his performances having picked up in the return to the 4-3-3 formation, penalty-taking back-up and the visit of Tottenham this coming Saturday evening. The most in form (9.5 points per game over the last month) player available in FPL, Peter Odemwingie, is bringing up the rear in fifth place, with the Baggies frontman looking to continue the form that has brought four goals, four assists and six FPL Bonus Points in the last five weeks. A local derby at home to Aston Villa offers plenty potential.

Further afield we see names like Yaya Toure and Mario Balotelli get a bump from the home fixture with West Ham, Charlie Adam relied upon to push Blackpool to safety at home to Stoke and the likes of Didier Drogba and Robin Van Persie bringing their form to top of the table clashes.

Sorting your gameweek by difficulty on Members’ Season Tickers will show we’ve barely even mentioned any of our top six ranked sides this week so there looks to be an abundance of choice this week – a gift and a curse. Plenty of chances to make some headway, but there’s certainly room for a pitfall or two without one or two standout options to give our backing.

Whoever it is you decide to grace with your most valuable Fantasy weapon, be sure to head back to the frontpage and place your vote, then head back here and maybe give a little presentation about your front-runner.

      Unless its critical to value changes this evening, then i would say wait as long as you can. Just in case of last minute injury news. Otherwise looks good.

    Points are getting tight in my mini league, and i don't want to take a hit. Which of these single transfers offers the best potential for points this week, in your opinion:

    Walker-->Lescott
    A.Young/Walcott-->Yaya/Silva
    Sturridge-->Odemwengie

    Comments much appreciated.

      Sturridge might be out, but has nice fixtures after with GW, so maybe hold on to him. Personally I'd recommend both of the other two for a hit (see above), but that's your call. Between the two... if you'd have to lay Walker otherwise, then the first option, but if you could bench him, then the second, probably in the form of Walcott > Silva.

        Thanks for the thoughts. I do feel like a point hit might be a good idea, but -4pt would drop me 5 places (and out of 'the money')!? So i am thinking maybe Walcott-->Silva this week, and bring in Lescott for the double.

    Team for the Weekend

    Foster
    Luiz, Kolarov, Coleman
    Walters, Adam, Young, Lamps (C)
    RVP, Rooney, Zamorra

    Bego, RJ, Bale, Walker

    Am I doing it right?

    Hesitant to double up on Birmingham defenders and have no reasonable inkling why Bale should outscore Zamorra. Anyone care to disagree?

      I think most in here are playing it safe so imo you´ll have to get at least one of them.

      You have the better squad this week.

      40 point gap is possible. I managed to get to 9 points behind the leader from 85 points behind in 3 weeks.

    Advice please:
    Hart
    Vidic RJ Luiz Huth
    Adam Nani Young Yaya
    Rooney (C) RVP
    (Al Habsi Carroll Hughes Barton)

    Correct bench? Worth another change for a hit (got 0.5 in bank)?

        got hart as city cover and dont think will keep CS vs Spurs so reluctant to double on city defence tbh. Worth taking carroll out if i get no positive news by 2moro deadline?

      Looks decent, I like the Rooney (c) could be a real master stroke.

      No hit needed.

        *essentially, whats happened is-

        lots of people talked him up, then loads of sheep followed. The i and others started pointing out his shite stats of one shot a game,(and none v wigan), and what you now have is have the people on the site saying YAYA, to jsutify thei own rash, early, and ultimately stupid (from an early point of view) moves.

      Hi all not sure what to do..

      Clinging onto third in my mini league but Dempsey has cut that down to 50..

      Currently squad is:

      Foster Bego
      Carr Coleman Ivanovic Luiz Shawcross
      Fabs Theo O'hara Young Nani
      Dembele Sturridge RVP

      I'm thinking Dembele will go and i need to cut the Arsenal coverage, probably Odem would come in and Maybe Kuyt or Silva. Also tempted to lose Ivanovic for Lescott but is a hit worth it for a defender..
