The penultimate Podcast broadcast of the season is dedicated to one of its most controversial Fantasy figures and features a Mark vs Granville barney of reasonable proportions.

A long-term apologist for the Aleksandar Kolarov’s lack of attacking end product (there’s no excuse for his defending), I find myself under a tirade of predictable flack as Granville dares to use common sense against my rock solid statistical reasoning. The very idea.

Anyone who has personally been angered/abused/mildly upset by Kolarov this season should certainly listen in and blame me 100% for your pain. If that isn’t enough to tempt you then you can also eavesdrop on the usual array of regulars, and witness the mini-league banter as the gap between Granville and myself narrows to just nine points. Nine points. Just nine.

Nine.

Still don;'t know what to do...now thinking of saving a transfer

    Szczesny/Jaaskelainen
    Luiz,Djourou,Coleman,Walker,Kelly
    Nani,Malouda,Silva,Toure,VDV
    RVP,Rooney,Sturridge

5 points ahead of second place....any suggestions? Any move seems like a gamble
    VDV to Giggs/Valencia/Henderson/Sessegnon

    Rival's Team'
    Gomes/Myhill
    Kolarov,Luiz,Carr,Dawson,Coleman
    Johnson,VDV,Silva,Walcott,Nani
    RVP,Rooney,Best
    and he made 1 transfer?

Falling short by 0.2 to do VDV to Kuyt...also not liking Liverpool's last 2, Tottenham(H) and Aston Villa(A).

Didn't even think of Toure or Silva being rotated, im going with ...they will play

liverpool are flying though whereas tottenham and villa are doing terribly. Plus kenny always roles with his best eleven so no rotation risk really... I'm certain either toure or silva won't start. I reckon silva because of the type of player he is

      Szczesny
      Luiz Djourou Kelly
      Nani Malouda Silva Toure Kuyt
      RVP(c) Rooney

You could go silva to kuyt on second thoughts... i reckon he'll be rested but whatever, doesn't matter because your rival will prbs play him. You have a better team than his anyway you should be able to win

Short on cash to do a direct Silva/VDV to Kuyt. Don't want to take a 4 point hit either, Have only a 5 point lead. So do nothing?

Once again i'm here to canvas opinion of the 'morning' lot.

    I have this;

    Hart (Begovic)
    Luiz, Zableta, R.Johnson (Walker, Kelly*)
    VDV, Adam, Lamps, Yaya (Dempsey)
    Bent, Sturridge, RVP

I keep coming back to my gut feeling of Bent-->Suarez, but also feel he might score. Not much point in transferring Dempsey as who would i bench? So it looks like VDV-->Kuyt/Nzog is my move, but which.

I can't afford a point hit, seriously. So what do you think guys?

I think Bent -> Suarez s worth a 4 point hit, Suarez is involved in pretty much everything and is facing a leaky Spurs defence. Can see goals in that game.

bent does tend to score against the big teams, having said that suarez ooks like a good bet. i think you can take a points hit if you'll get the points back, I'm in the same situation pretty much going to do bent -->suarez and VDV -->NZog

I think you will agree my 5th position is precarious to say the least. So after looking at that, still worth a hit? and if i get Suarez, should I go Nzog rather than doubling up on Liverpool?

    Team for this week:

    Foster
    Djourou, Luiz, Lescott
    N'Zogbiz, Lampard, Adam, Kuyt
    Rooney, Odem, VP

    Subs: Begovich, VDV, Walker, Simpson

Was going to change Silva but threat of rotation too much. Bring on Saturday.

Anyone else starting to thing about next week, am wondering whether a cheeky Berba transfer and captain might pay off?

It's a tough week this week, rotation worries in the top sides...
I think if Arsenal win this weekend, then Man.City won't be able to get 3rd spot anyway. With 4th place secured for Man.City, i can see the likes of Adam Johnson, Milner, Viera, Wright-Phillips and Barry coming in to the midfield for some playing time....?
The relegation threatened sides look safe for no rotation, and if Chelsea are to have a vague chance at the title, they need alot of goals to win on goal difference.
I'm gonna keep VDV, he's on pens and is always in the mix.
N'Zogbia and Hitzslperger are tempting me...

The problem with Chelsea is that the title could be over by the time they kick off.

That could mean that Ancelloti may tinker with his midfield and strikers.

Personally, I'd play them if you have them, but I wouldn't bring them in if you don't already have them.

Do the math starscream. If Man City win their last 2 games they have 71 points. If Arsenal win GW37 but lose GW38 they have 70 points. City finishes third. However, perhaps you have a new theory of mathematics.

Hi Tosey - I noticed you said youre saving 2 transfers and might bring in nani and berb for gw38.

Just wondering why you don't bring in nani for fabregas this week - or is he back from injury?

i'm getting nani this week for bale. I think people are getting overexcited with gw37 fixtures.

United have the best 37+38 combo, and that is what should matter when you buy someone this week I think. After that it's a case of whether he'll start both, and i think (hope) he will!

gotta feel sorry for berbatov. He has a lot more to his game than hernandez imo

Hernandez has a great finish and pace - but compare their first touch and passing/ flicks, holding up the ball - berbatov is so much better

Out of interest, why does baird get a 2 match ban for a V sign towards an official, when other players and managers constantly tell the referee to "F*** OFF" and get no punishment?

I'm not defending baird - i just think shouting abuse in the referee's face is worse than a hand gesture.

He shouted at the ref too, but I agree that this is all weird. So many players shout ugly things to the ref every game and get away with it, if they want to start clamping down on this they can't just go on punishing specific cases where low profile players do it.

Tosey...did you bet on the Notts Forest game last night? cant believe they didnt score! Think that means Swans for the final -probably vs. Reading.

you still thinking of leaving Nzogbia alone this week? Think Adam is the sensible call given my closest rival has him.
Also do you think worth keeping Carroll this week? Would hate a 1 point sub appearance...esp as same rival has Suarez...

Great podcast. One of my best fall a sleeps ever :). I didn't hear the end, but will try today again without sleeping 😉 .

    Cheers,

P.S. That part about Lolarov was the best and clearly he is not good option I am with Granny. If he plays they usually concede and regarding free kicks, City has scored only 2 headed goals whole season. That will teach me with bringing Lescott, but there is still hope.

The podcast was great to fall asleep to...

      Is that honestly a compliment?!

I agree on kolarov as I was saying to Mark the other day. He defended it with opta stats (crosses/ shots) but the key stat is surely that almost none of these crosses or shots are any good... and he has 5 clean sheets to man city's 16 this season.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you here, his crossing is absolutely excellent and his shooting is good too but he shoots from too far away too often. Problem is he can't beat his man often enough, something I hope he will work on for next season. He's definitely a lost case for this year unfortunately.

Define an excellent cross or a good shot.

I'd say they'd have to serve their purpose more than once a season.

If we want to blame the strikers for not being good at heading, then that is a reason not to buy a wide player in itself.

The last point you make is a good one.

A good cross for me is defined as one that hits the right area in the box with good power and curl. Then it's up to the strikers to be there.

Im doing Lamps-->nani most probably in gw 38 and then depending on the Silva "rotation" I might bring Ohara/Hitzlspgr.

In your case i would do Silva-->Lamps. VDV has a good gw 38 and with a bit of luck he could have scored vs Blackpool in the last gw.
