The race to be crowned champion of the Fantasy Football Scout league has really stepped up this week; we now have four of the overall Fantasy Premier League (FPL) top ten, with the world number 9 and 10 joining up at the end of gameweek 36. Chris McGurn, meanwhile, has increased his lead to four points at the top of the FPL rankings as, with only two gameweeks remaining, he looks to emulate Jon Reeson and become both the FFScout and world’s number one:

Chris McGurn

Morons FC

Fantasy Football Scout Ranking #1 Overall FPL Ranking #1

Last Week’s Score 56 pts
Frank Lampard made way for Rafael Van der Vaart in the only change, with the Dutchman joined by Yaya Toure and David Silva as Chris’ double gameweek contingent. While Van der Vaart returned just 8 FPL points with the captain’s armband, the City pair made amends, bringing home a 19 pt haul. Ashley Young picked up 9 pts for his home performance against Wigan and Robin Van Persie managed 6 pts with yet another goal. Charlie Adam and Ben Foster helped matters along, with 5 pts each.

Gameweek 37 Preview
John Terry and David Luiz face Newcastle at home, with perhaps some concern over the latter’s game time, following a dodgy performance and possibly injury at Old Trafford last weekend. Wayne Rooney goes to Blackburn looking to fire Man United to the league title, Van der Vaart faces a difficult trip to Liverpool, Leighton Baines is off to West Brom, Van Persie and Young square up at the Emirates, while Silva and Toure host Stoke next midweek, with Man City looking to steal third place from under Arsenal’s noses.

Kevin Havelock

Beyond Havoc

Fantasy Football Scout Ranking #2 Overall FPL Ranking #4

Last Week’s Score 52 pts
Kevin’s one change was Charlie Adam out for Yaya Toure, which gave him an incredible six double gameweek players. While Toure, Jolean Lescott and Aleksander Kolarov picked up 19 pts between them, the Spurs trio of Van der Vaart (captain), Gareth Bale and Michael Dawson harvested 14. Dirk Kuyt continued his great run of form, picking up 8 pts, while Van Persie chipped in with 6.

Gameweek 36 Preview
There’s some thinking to over potential transfers: Gareth Bale is out, Andy Carroll’s fitness is uncertain and David Luiz may not start for Chelsea. For those likely to see game time, Ashley Cole and Florent Malouda host Newcastle, Van Persie is at home to Aston Villa, Kuyt goes head to head with Van der Vaart at Anfield and the Man City trio take on Stoke at Eastlands.

Yasir Naim

Bearded Ladies

Fantasy Football Ranking #3, Overall FPL Ranking #9

Last Week’s Score 51pts
Our first new entry in the Top 5, Yasir made two transfers for a four point hit in gameweek 36, as Nani and Clint Dempsey went out for Luka Modric and David Silva respectively. Another of our managers to captain Van der Vaart for a paltry 8pts, he did see Modric grab 9pts, while the City double gameweek players -Silva and Kolarov- returned 9 between them. Ashley Young popped up with 9 and Van Persie 6, while Peter Odemwingie’s fifth goal on the trot brought home 6 pts.

Gameweek 37 Preview
All thee forwards are at home: Didier Drogba lines up at home against Newcastle, Van Persie faces Ashley Young’s Villa and Odemwingie takes on Everton. Van der Vaart and Modric have a difficult game at Anfield, while Charlie Adam could come into play, with a home game against Bolton. Silva and Kolarov top the week off, with the Eastlands game against Stoke.

Richard Zajdlic

Yott

Fantasy Football Ranking #4, Overall FPL Ranking #10

Last Week’s Score pts
Richard is our second and final new entry in the Top 5. He’ll be glad to see the back of gameweek 36 after a lowly score of 43, after opting for just two double gameweek players. Captain Van der Vaart and David Silva both picked up 8pts, Van Persie’s goal at Stoke brought home 6pts, Ben Foster grabbed 5pts for a brilliant display at Newcastle and Charles N’Zogbia picked up 9pts at Aston Villa.

Gameweek 37 Preview
There’s some interesting midfield choices available here, with N’Zogbia, Jamie O’Hara and Charlie Adam all available for selection. With their teams battling relegation, the trio all have huge weekends ahead. Up front, Van Persie and Drogba have plum home ties with Villa and Newcastle respectively, while Rooney goes to Ewood Park looking for the title. Van der Vaart goes to Liverpool while Silva hosts Stoke.

Patrick Tyrrell

Scalachis Allstars

Fantasy Football Scout Ranking #5, Overall FPL Ranking #12

Last Week’s Score 55 Pts
Just the two double gameweek players for Patrick last week, with Yaya Toure and captain Van der Vaart mustering 19 pts between them. Van Persie and Odemwingie kept up their brillian goalscoring runs to bring home 6 pts apiece, while Joey Barton and Frank Lampard picked up 8 and 7 pts respectively.

Gameweek 37 Preview
Lampard looks a strong captain choice at home to Barton’s Newcastle, while Charlie Adam faces Bolton desperately needing three league points. Leighton Baines travels to Odemwingie’s West Brom, Van Persie hosts Villa, Van der Vaart is at Liverpool while Toure squares up to Stoke at home. Will Patrick keep faith in Kevin Davies or will this be the week he moves the misfiring Bolton man on?

Question for you guys, I know that in your starting line up you have to have 3 defenders minimum - If you put 3 defenders in and one of them didnt play can a midfielder or striker come in if set as first sub?

In other words, with subs is it possible to play 2-5-3?

I'm pretty sure Dalglish would be happy to be playing in Europa League, they can blood some of the Academy kids in the earlier rounds and would stand a great chance of reaching a European final. I don't get the negativity about it personally, sure its no CL but it still brings in the cash and is a trophy same as any other.

I thought you were on about 'Arry when you said from the relegation zone to 5th. Kenny didn't do that.

Liverpool were always gonna finish in the top half at least. It's down to the Jeckyll and Hyde performances (the staple of this season) of their rivals that has got them 5th place. Spurs being the prime perpetrators. Liverpool should be nowhere near 5th spot.

But then again the league doesn't lie...

First post. Was tempted to start posting based on my desperation for advice to help me claw back a points deficit in the last two gameweeks.

I am 27 points my rival who has this squad to choose from (+ 2 injured players that I've omitted):

    Foster
    Baines/Djourou/Kolarov/Luiz
    A. Johnson/VDV/Dempsey/Jarvis/Gardener
    Rooney/RVP/Suarez

I am fielding this team currently for GW 37:

    Hart
    Baines/Koscielny/Terry/Hangeland
    Silva/Adam/Lampard/VDV
    Zamora/RVP

As you can see we have quite a few differentials but so far neither of us has used a sub. Neither of us has any spare cash so I can't even do VDV to Kuyt.

    Any suggestions?

hmmm Suarez -> Torres is tempting me now. It seems strange, because Suarez has the form on his side, but Liverpool have scored13 in the last three games, and he's only been involved in four of them. That's just over a goal/assist every three Liverpool goals, which they might not get vs. Spurs or Villa.

seeing as kalou was wank v man utd and anelka has rightly disappeared it will probably mean drogba starting on the right like he did against spurs. drogba, torres and malouda front 3

Hi All, can I have your advices please?

Context is I am ahead 120 points in one mini league, and 20 in another. My main rival has taken a 4 point hit and I have no free transfers.

    Foster (Bergovic)
Luiz, R Johnson, Kolorov (Huth, Djorou)
    Modric, Adam, Silva, Lamps (c)
    Drogs, Odem, RVP

My defence is rubbish and there are at least doubts over Kolorov, Huth and Silva .. and Luiz.

I am worried that Maxi and kuyt might sparkle again.

Any thoughts or recommendations please?Tempted to leave my defence though am sorely tempted to bring in kuyt/ Maxi

Great news that Torres is starting! Not that owning him has been a thrill but i'll take it. Thinking of Lamps(c) against a Tiote and Nolanless newcastle side.

John Terry has just come out and said "Luiz will be a legend at Stamford Bridge"

Looks like this a good sign v Newcastle

You can understand Ancelotti playing Luiz against a very poor Newcastle team to gain some confidence.

doesn't sound like a prospective "legend" would be dropped from the team when not injured

Ancelotti confirmed Luiz is fit as well

    Foster (Begovic)

    Luiz, Baines, Djourou (Cahill, Foley)

    VDV, Yaya, Silva, Kuyt (Barton)

    RVP(c), Rooney, Carroll

Need help guys, chasing a 25 point lead, Is my defence and captain ok?

1 free transfer but looking to make 2 transfers with a hit, have no money and thinking of getting rid of Carroll for Suarez and VDV
    for Adam/Nzogbia.

Or Carroll for odemwingbie and Yaya for Adam/Nzogbia

which is the best option? any of your own recommendations welcome

What if all close rivals have RVP though? If RVP scores/assist, no progress is made, while at least if RVP's captain you get double points, as surely not all close rivals will captain him?

      Wise thinking?

    Dawson, Luiz, R.Johnson
    Adam, Silva, vDV, A. Young
    Bent, RvP (C), Carroll
    Subs: Walker, Huth, Modric

2.7 in the bank. Please some suggestions! Have no idea what to do other than A. Young > N'Zogbia, my team looks like it's worth taking a few hits but i'm defending a 10 point lead.
