The race to be crowned champion of the Fantasy Football Scout league has really stepped up this week; we now have four of the overall Fantasy Premier League (FPL) top ten, with the world number 9 and 10 joining up at the end of gameweek 36. Chris McGurn, meanwhile, has increased his lead to four points at the top of the FPL rankings as, with only two gameweeks remaining, he looks to emulate Jon Reeson and become both the FFScout and world’s number one:

Chris McGurn

Morons FC

Fantasy Football Scout Ranking #1 Overall FPL Ranking #1

Last Week’s Score 56 pts
Frank Lampard made way for Rafael Van der Vaart in the only change, with the Dutchman joined by Yaya Toure and David Silva as Chris’ double gameweek contingent. While Van der Vaart returned just 8 FPL points with the captain’s armband, the City pair made amends, bringing home a 19 pt haul. Ashley Young picked up 9 pts for his home performance against Wigan and Robin Van Persie managed 6 pts with yet another goal. Charlie Adam and Ben Foster helped matters along, with 5 pts each.

Gameweek 37 Preview
John Terry and David Luiz face Newcastle at home, with perhaps some concern over the latter’s game time, following a dodgy performance and possibly injury at Old Trafford last weekend. Wayne Rooney goes to Blackburn looking to fire Man United to the league title, Van der Vaart faces a difficult trip to Liverpool, Leighton Baines is off to West Brom, Van Persie and Young square up at the Emirates, while Silva and Toure host Stoke next midweek, with Man City looking to steal third place from under Arsenal’s noses.

Kevin Havelock

Beyond Havoc

Fantasy Football Scout Ranking #2 Overall FPL Ranking #4

Last Week’s Score 52 pts
Kevin’s one change was Charlie Adam out for Yaya Toure, which gave him an incredible six double gameweek players. While Toure, Jolean Lescott and Aleksander Kolarov picked up 19 pts between them, the Spurs trio of Van der Vaart (captain), Gareth Bale and Michael Dawson harvested 14. Dirk Kuyt continued his great run of form, picking up 8 pts, while Van Persie chipped in with 6.

Gameweek 36 Preview
There’s some thinking to over potential transfers: Gareth Bale is out, Andy Carroll’s fitness is uncertain and David Luiz may not start for Chelsea. For those likely to see game time, Ashley Cole and Florent Malouda host Newcastle, Van Persie is at home to Aston Villa, Kuyt goes head to head with Van der Vaart at Anfield and the Man City trio take on Stoke at Eastlands.

Yasir Naim

Bearded Ladies

Fantasy Football Ranking #3, Overall FPL Ranking #9

Last Week’s Score 51pts
Our first new entry in the Top 5, Yasir made two transfers for a four point hit in gameweek 36, as Nani and Clint Dempsey went out for Luka Modric and David Silva respectively. Another of our managers to captain Van der Vaart for a paltry 8pts, he did see Modric grab 9pts, while the City double gameweek players -Silva and Kolarov- returned 9 between them. Ashley Young popped up with 9 and Van Persie 6, while Peter Odemwingie’s fifth goal on the trot brought home 6 pts.

Gameweek 37 Preview
All thee forwards are at home: Didier Drogba lines up at home against Newcastle, Van Persie faces Ashley Young’s Villa and Odemwingie takes on Everton. Van der Vaart and Modric have a difficult game at Anfield, while Charlie Adam could come into play, with a home game against Bolton. Silva and Kolarov top the week off, with the Eastlands game against Stoke.

Richard Zajdlic

Yott

Fantasy Football Ranking #4, Overall FPL Ranking #10

Last Week’s Score pts
Richard is our second and final new entry in the Top 5. He’ll be glad to see the back of gameweek 36 after a lowly score of 43, after opting for just two double gameweek players. Captain Van der Vaart and David Silva both picked up 8pts, Van Persie’s goal at Stoke brought home 6pts, Ben Foster grabbed 5pts for a brilliant display at Newcastle and Charles N’Zogbia picked up 9pts at Aston Villa.

Gameweek 37 Preview
There’s some interesting midfield choices available here, with N’Zogbia, Jamie O’Hara and Charlie Adam all available for selection. With their teams battling relegation, the trio all have huge weekends ahead. Up front, Van Persie and Drogba have plum home ties with Villa and Newcastle respectively, while Rooney goes to Ewood Park looking for the title. Van der Vaart goes to Liverpool while Silva hosts Stoke.

Patrick Tyrrell

Scalachis Allstars

Fantasy Football Scout Ranking #5, Overall FPL Ranking #12

Last Week’s Score 55 Pts
Just the two double gameweek players for Patrick last week, with Yaya Toure and captain Van der Vaart mustering 19 pts between them. Van Persie and Odemwingie kept up their brillian goalscoring runs to bring home 6 pts apiece, while Joey Barton and Frank Lampard picked up 8 and 7 pts respectively.

Gameweek 37 Preview
Lampard looks a strong captain choice at home to Barton’s Newcastle, while Charlie Adam faces Bolton desperately needing three league points. Leighton Baines travels to Odemwingie’s West Brom, Van Persie hosts Villa, Van der Vaart is at Liverpool while Toure squares up to Stoke at home. Will Patrick keep faith in Kevin Davies or will this be the week he moves the misfiring Bolton man on?

Any A Young owners sticking with him?

Being on penalties and free kicks against an arsenal team that have been giving away alot of pens and free kicks recently?

Been thinking all week of selling him for Nzogbia but you just never know with charles.

I currently dont own charlie adam, would adam over nzog be a smarter move?

    Midfield is:

    VdV Lampard(c) Nani YaYa Adam

Am thinking of using my two free transfers to get in two of N'Zogbia, Kuyt and Maxi (probably the first two) at the expence of Yaya and one other. Would VdV be the likely 2nd candidate?

dont try and match him, 10 points if nothing, go for the player who will get the most points

think suarez against a tired spurs side its a points bomb waiting to happen

blackpool have tightened up big time, it took spurs nearly a full match to score past them

Bolton then face a city side still in the hunt for 3rd... although sturridge could get former club syndrome and score past them

Hi I'm chasing a 50 point lead and have been for the last three weeks. I have been taking risks ie balotelli, defoe, walters but unfortunatelty they are proving unfruitful. What changes for this weekend? Am willing to take a major hit ie 12 points but have been avoiding kuyt and suraez ~(as rivals have them) Team at present is:

    Foster (bego)
    Luiz, Cole, Kolarov (Walker, Kelly)
Lampard (c), Nani, VDV, Walters, Toure
    Defoe, Caroll, Balotelli

Currently thinking Luiz Defoe and Balotelli (all might not play), -> Djorou, RVP and Torres (c). Is it worth doing one of other midfielders for Adam/Nzog or am I totally on the wrong path

Oh, finally someone who is chasing a lead bigger than I am 😀
First off I wouldn't take out a defender... you need players who have the potential to score 10pts+.
RVP and Torres are good choices. Sturridge, Maxi, Adam, Nzog and Sessegnon are your other choices. The main thing is to make sure your rivals don't have the same players.

      Good luck!

Sturridge is a possibility I suppose, Luiz out only on the fact I have two doubts on defence (Kolarov and Luiz) one definite out (Kelly) plus it frees up a chelsea player for attack. Rivals also have luiz so if he just has a cameo could work

Ah you already have 3 chelsea players, bummer. I think having Torres is essential if you chasing a big lead so I would swap Luiz for Ward (wolves, he's been playing in midfield), Glen Johnson or Baines.

Probably not, but I'm starting him in case with RJ as back-up.

Really considering putting RJ there instead though, considering I have Cech and Luiz could get a 5 minute cameo.

4pt hit to do VDV+Carroll--->Odem+Kuyt worth it to give me:

    Hart
    Vidic RJ Luiz
    Adam Yaya Silva Kuyt
    Rooney RVP(c) Odem
    (Al Habsi Hughes Huth Barton)

    Right bench and capt?

Yep agree with lineup and captain. Nice team for this week, a lot of away fixtures next week but seems like that for most people.

Yeah but what I meant was odem and kuyt's fixtures are good in gw37 but not so great in gw38, as is similar for most of your team. This doesn't really matter if you're confident they'll do well overall in those 2 games

    I think I've got a wenger complex.

I refuse to budge from my transfer principles even when it's obvious matching the guy 25 points behind me is sensible. I'm just determined to win in style, my own way.

    Am I alone in this?!

Good for you! I guess it's like some people will bite or knee someone in the balls in a fight.

        We've all got different principles...

I'd only do that of the guy was MUCH bigger than me!

Well, throughout most of the season that's definitely true but in the last few weeks I think it would almost guarantee victory over this particular rival, who could only really win if 1 or 2 differentials do very well.

However I think it would likely have a negative effect on my overall ranking, so don't want to do it.

    Current team:
    Foster, Mignolet
    Luiz, Coleman, R.Johnson, Djourou, Walker
    A.Young, Lampard, VDV, Silva, Adam
    Zamora, DJ, RVP

    Rival's team:
    Foster/Begovic
    Hangeland, Kolarov, Luiz, Smalling, Evatt
    VDV, Silva, Meireles, Adam, Nani
    Suarez, RVP, Sturridge

I currently have 1.6M in the bank and a 10 point lead

    Options:
    1. A.Young to N'Zogbia
    2. A.Young to Kuyt
    3. A.Young to Nani
    4. Zamora to Steven Fletcher or Odemwingie
    5. Zamora to Suarez and A.Young to N'Zogbia for a 4 point hit

What do you think is the best option? Or is there a better one?

Thanking you in advance for your great advice! 😉
