It has been revealed by Roy Hodgson that Peter Odemwingie’s season has finished early after the striker suffered an ankle injury. He will now certainly miss the Baggies’ last encounter of the season – a trip to the North East to face Newcastle.

The Nigerian forward has been one of the Premier League’s signings of the season, cropping up with 15 goals and 9 assists. This good form has established him as a firm Fantasy Premier League favourite and he currently holds an ownership of 19.7%.

If this final gameweek wasn’t stressful enough, almost one-in-five FPL Managers are now left with another last-gasp decision. At 5.8 Odemwingie stands out remarkably against other cheap forwards and it is generally slim pickings when pondering the rest of this price bracket.

The obvious choice would be Steven Fletcher of Wolves – one of the most in-form players in the league with 5 goals in his last 5 outings as well as 6 FPL bonus points. Priced at just 4.8, he could also free up an extra million for other areas of the squad in need of a last hurrah.

Going off past form, Marc-Antoine Fortune seems the most likely candidate to lead the Baggies line in Odemwingie’s absence. Even with a cheap 5.0 valuation, his record of just 2 goals and 1 assist in 24 Premier League games (albeit mostly as a sub) doesn’t make him particularly attractive. Fortune has rarely completed the full 90 minutes this season, so expect him to be replaced by Ishmael Miller.

With a dwindled potency, West Brom are lacking much attacking potential, a clean-sheet could be on the cards for the Newcastle backline. Those Managers shopping for a goalkeeper look no further than Tim Krul, at 3.9 he is as cheap as they come and holds the capacity to grab some end of season points.

Elsewhere in the Newcastle defence, Jose Enrique is a snip at 4.7 and offers assist and Bonus point potential, respectively notching up 2 and 11 this season. Whilst Steven Taylor has scored in his last 2 Premier League fixtures and is yours for just 3.9.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

final piece if advice needed this season... 4 point lead and 2 free transfers...

    current front 8:

    cleverley, lamps, silva, vdv, young
    sturridge, rvp, suarez

wanted to do sturridge > berbs and silva > o'hara but front 3 should all start, unlike my mids....

so, is something like silva> adam and cleverley > n,zog/o'hara/ d fletcher a better option??

Or any other option i've missed...

    Thank you please

    Newcastle United 5 - 0 WBA
Ameobi 3, R.Taylor, Simpson with the goals. R.Taylor four assists. That might just win me the league.

Taylor over Ward any day I think. With Odemwingie out there is a reasonable chance we could keep a cleanie.

6 points behind my rival. My team's looking pretty decimated.
Is this worth a 4 pt hit if I am likely to only have 9 players:
    OUT: Odem, chica
    IN: Fletcher, Berba

Guys will silva play against bolton? He was subbed quite early against stoke but wasnt sure as to why as I didnt watch the game!

    Current front 8 is:

    Silva Kuyt VdV Adam Lampard
    RvP Odemwingie Carroll

Was planning Carroll to Berbatov because I have 3M in the bank but with VdV being a doubt who else could I bring in for a 4 point hit? I cant afford Odemwingie to Berbatov either!

Could be a 4-4-2 with Fletcher on the right, and Scholes and Ando in the middle, Nani on the left and Berba and Owen up front. Or, could be 4-5-1:

      Rafael Fletcher Anderson Scholes Nani
      Berbatov

      with Anderson supporting Berba.

Hmmmm. If Fergie isn't telling porkies and Fletcher, Ando and Scholes all start, not sure where he'd fit in. He wouldn't really suit the flying winger role!

In a 4-5-1 Fletcher could play on the right, with Gibson in the central 3.

Hey guys, i know theres alot of RMT's about but if anyone would be so kind to check out my situation.

ive already smashed my work league but dont want to take my foot off the gas and want high overall ranking.

    robinson (foster)
    luiz, baines, walker, (kelly, carr)
    vdv, lampard, silva, nzogbia, barton
    roon, rvp, (odem)

roon > berba is my planned transfer but as you can see ive got 2 injured players, 1 doubt and 1 out of favour... is it worth a 4 pointer for someone or just hope vdv and luiz play?

    cheers

If you've got your mini-leagues won, I'd definitely sell Odem for someone like Fletcher (Wolves) for a 4 pointer. Kelly's out, Odem's out, VDV is doubtful, is Silva fit? Will Luiz play?

    REPOST

Riiiiight. Finally gonna start thinking about my team this week. So many doubts over players, I guess this is what the last week is all about…

    Begovic
Carr (crap with a crap game)
    Hangeland
    Ivanovic
    Luiz (rotation risk)
    Lampard
    Nzogbia
    Yaya
    Adam
    RVP
    Ba (rotation risk)

    Subs:
    VDV (injury doubt)
    Huth (injury doubt)
    Odem (out injured)

This is ugly. I can and will Odem to Berbs? Any other ideas?

He will not take penalty kicks, or free kicks or corners. Ameobi takes the pens and R.Taylor the set pieces.

No one thinking of going for Scholes instead of Ando? Ando never been prolific and i no Fergie has said Scholes will probably be carrying on for another season but thats not set in stone so Scholes might play this game like his last at OT and go all out.

The appeal of Ando is down more to the fact that With Fletch and Scholes in the side he will be playing as an attacking mid like vs Schalke.

Scholes plays so deep now, and doesn't seem to shoot anymore. If we play 4-5-1 Ando will play the furthest forward of the mids.

Reckon Nani is a starter for this week; he won't start the Champs League final (Park and Valencia will), and Fergie will still want that bit of flair to win last home game. Not sure about this Anderson bandwagon though.. 0 goals and 2 assists ALL season.

He'll want to keep Valencia and Park on their toes in the build up to the CL, starting Nani on sunday is going to tell them they're starting. He likes to keep people guessing. Plus, what if Park/Valencia get injured during or before the CL match? he'll want a fully fit Nani to come in.

I don't agree at all Chuck, neither Park or Valencia are the type of players to think "I am starting most likely, can sit back and take it handy", Nani is low on confidence, there is no need to save him for the final to come on as an impact sub where his form is low.

He loves playing at home in OT, he is most likely only going to be a bench player against Barcelona, a run out against a relegation side will do him the power of good. He plays in my opinion.

Hmm confidence is a good point, and I know Val/Park aren't that type of players but he'll still want to keep them on their toes and trying very hard.
